  1. Yep, it is shallow. I hope when that firefighter(who never serverd in the military) goes in to your burning house to pull your unconcious family member out and saves their life, you'll explain to them why they don't have as much credibilty as that verteran who stood on the curb with the crowd watching your house burn. Well, you can say that if you wish. No slur was intended then, nor now, several years later. As I am still a serving law enforcement officer, and work with firefighters all the time, I have no problem with them, veteran or not. Please take your preaching somewhere else. Thanks, Mac aka Breaktrack
  2. I wish people like this would remember that. And yes, I did send an email to the company, and no, they have not replied. Yeah, like it is the troops fault they are sent anywhere? LOL. Mac
  3. Once again let me take the time to say to everyone, "Thank you for your service, and welcome home". Mac aka Breaktrack
  4. That is quite amazing! I think I've missed one of the 261 so far. Scary. I Should dig out the logs for chat #1. That might be amusing. Hmmmm, I think I've missed a few more than that.....hehehehe. Mac
  5. That is one of the best poets of anything military EVER. Kipling wrote for the soldier, that's for sure. I've tried to memorize Gunga Din a few times, but never with a lot of success. Another great one for sure. Between that and trying to memorize Alfred Lord Tennysons "Charge of the Light Brigade" I've simply shown my complete and utter failure at such things...lol. Mac
  6. Wow, now that is really something. As I've stated here before, I was at the Christening of the Washington at Newport News shipyards in 1990. I've always had an interest in her since then. How is she holding up after all these years??? Mac
  7. I've been lurking on and off for, oh, since, well, heck, a long time ago....heheheh. I say that because even though I'm a charter member of this "club", I do tend to stray away for long periods of time and then come back all of a sudden....hehehehe. Still a premium member without a break from the time they were first offered, and proud of it. After the first of the year (2007) I plan to get back into Geocaching again actively, new GPS and everything!! Just have to wait and see how it goes. Definitely have to do some major maintenance on some of my caches...LOL. Mac
  8. Once again I'm just checking in on this thread to see the new posts, and reposts of some who've posted long ago. It is inspiring to me to read about each of the experiences and stories of each individual veteran. It seems no two have the exact same thing to report, and each expresses their term of service in a different way. Keep them coming folks. I love the fact that our kindred spirits in other countries than just the U. S. chime in as well. As has been stated before, ALL military related service in any country is welcome to be posted. Another kudo to all who have posted without it turning into some kind of political issue. No politics here, just the culture of service to something that is bigger than ourselves. As I tell my buds still serving in harms way: "Keep your head down, use cover, and wear the full 'Battle Rattle' at all times." Those that know will understand. Mac
  9. Hahahahaha, man, no matter how long it is between visits here, I can always count on getting a laugh when you reply to topics like this....LOL. You never let me down...LOL. Mac
  10. Wow, now ain't that somethin'??? Congrats on the new smurf!!!! Mac
  11. Amen to that!!!! I had no idea that when I started this thread it would have so many folks respond, nor that it would last as long as it has. I also want to thank the Groundspeak folks for grandfathering this thread and letting it live for so long. Kudos to you as well. Mac
  12. For all those who have served, and are currently serving, kudos to you. Anyone that is interested please consider joining the Patriot Guard Riders. We attend the funerals of fallen soldiers and veterans to honor their service and sacrifice. You do not have to be a motorcycle rider to join or participate, everyone is welcome. Go to http://patriotguard.org/ and see what you think. Once again, thank you. Mac McKinney Captain, USAR (ret).
  13. Hmmmmm, if the cache placer in question is still paying the money to be a premium member, then that might give a hint as to the intent toward maintaining caches. Another thing is, who cares if they've logged in "recently" if their caches are still being maintained. I do not come on here and necessarily log it when I check my caches. If they are doing fine, I have no reason to log anything on the site. A couple of my physical caches are needing to be checked right now and I have temporarily disabled them so cachers will know they are not in shape to be hunted for right now. When I have them back up and running I'll put them back online. Mac
  14. Yup, it is good to get that 20 year letter, ain't it? LOL. Mac
  15. Diablo, it is so cool that you are still doing this after all this time!!! LOL. I know I've chatted with you about getting one of these staffs made several times over the past few years, and then had something come up each and every time that kept me from doing so. My loss. Mac
  16. Man, is this a great thread or what??? LOL. Mac
  17. Rock on to Nuke EMs! I'm a nuclear trained electrician on the USS George Washington currently. Wow, you have a great job!! Believe it or not, I was attending my Officer Basic Course at Fort Lee, Virginia when the U. S. S. George Washington was christened at Newport News. President Bush (the first one) was going to be there and the first lady (Barbara Bush) was going to do the actual christening. I talked about 20 of the other 2nd Lieutenants (Ensigns to you swabbies) into going to the ceremony. I'm sure all of the naval personnel in attendance had a hard time figuring out why there were a whole crew of Army officers in dress greens on the dock, but hey, we like to confuse folks....lol. Now remember, I served for four years active duty in the U. S. Navy in the late 70's, so I can talk about the canoe club all I want....LOL. I've always kept up with the Washington ever since, felt a small connection with her after that. Mac
  18. Woodsters, I didn't know you did all that!!!! Cool. Mac
  19. Hehehehe, oh man, this has resurfaced again!!! Every once in a while this particular "internet craze" is pronounced dead and buried, but it then crops back up in some obscure way and place, and we're off and running again!!! LOL. Hmmmmmm, kind of like me...... Mac
  20. SBell111, you said a mouthful there....lol. The world is amazingly different and the enemies not as well defined, eh? Oh well, the only thing about life that does not change, is the fact that change is inevitable. Mac
  21. Bump. Anyone with any more news or ideas about military geocoins? Mac
  22. Just saw this one, sorry to not check in more often. As Snoogans said, it is a true loss to us all. Sounds like he was a very talented individual as well as adventurous. Having lost my little brother to the same kind of cancer in December of 2000, I do understand. I definitely feel for you. Take care, Mac aka Breaktrack
  23. Which "our" nation are you all talking about in an international game? Oh, and my wife and I have served in the former yugoslavian secret service. Now that you know, we'll have to shoot you all. By the way: I like the picture of the icelandic cavalry. BalkanSabranje Actually, at the time this thread was started, I did not give any thought to military service outside the U. S. Admittedly, that was short sighted and the listing of service in military organizations outside the U. S. had become quite routine in this thread, and is most welcome. Thanks, Mac aka Breaktrack
