  1. I think I'll make a resolution to add wherever I can to the swag. If I "think globally, act locally" I may play my (admittedly very small) part to help out with this problem.

One of my caches had a Rod Stewart cassette tape in it for over a year. I know why it wasn't traded. That thing was priceless, baby. How do you put a value on that? No one was able to trade up. ;):D

  2. Why is so important to the organiser anyways? 99% of this hobby is based on the honour system. I know I'm not checking the logs of my caches to make sure everyone who claims they have found them have. Does anyone else?

I've been at some events for hours and some for minutes. (Then there was one event where someone stood talking to me all night and so it felt like I had been there all day.... ;) ) The time frame is not important at all.

  3. Well I got rid of that annoying banner using a combo of Firefox and Adblock.

I still need my friends find counts back please. Thank heavens I got to 1000 before my milestone was erased from that page. :)

  4. Well at least having Friends on the geocaching site is now useless.

I used to care about what they were up to, how many new finds they had etc. Now, to go to all the trouble of clicking through their profiles? Forget it.

I guess I need not make any more friends. :(

    Will this "fix" be fixed?

What an awesome idea! I'm going caching in future with a dozen or so micros. I am never going to log a DNF again!

Best for last. Perfect example of mis-construing plain text for some thing else, oops, sarcasm. Guess one does not realize that I have only done this twice, and one lid with sopping wet log.

nor will it be my last

    Best for last. Yippee!

I did read the circumstances under which you replaced the micros. My comment was born more out of the frustration I feel whenever I've been unable to find even 1/1 micros (that people find the same day as me even!) My comment was intended to be humourous, but it may come across as rude. I apologise for that.

    Happy caching!

    I ah...rest my case!

Seeing the OP has admitted to making a mistake and is willing to rectify said mistake, what good did this post do?

I could say the same about your post. Indeed, yours is worse. Now, having read enough to see the OP admit their mistake I could delete my post. However with your quoting mine, there is no way I can remove it completely now, can I?

    Speck, meet thine eye.

  7. So here is what I did, I tend to carry several micros, (As do a few cachers) for an emergency hide, or in this case as a replacement. I really did not want to DNF a cache when it was obvious as to where it was placed. So I headed back to the cachemobile, grabbed a bottle cap micro, signed the log, and replaced it at the logical location. Got on the cell to log, and that is when I realized it had been temp dis-abled for over a month or two, so I logged a find, and placed the notice as to what I had placed in the GZ area, placed it on my watch list.

  8. You're cute. Are you seeing anyone? Do you like Jack Russells?

Sorry Patrick. I know it is hard to tell from photos (guys and gals sometimes just look alike these days), but I am a dude and I am straight.

    :D

Flattery can get your cache that is too close to another one published though, so call me. Maybe we can hang out and cruise the local park for babes.

Somehow I think this comment was aimed at your DOG and not so much at YOU. :):D:D

Um, if you look at my profile, you will see that I *am* a dog.

    Oh. :o My mistake.

  10. [i've also posted this to the BC Geocaching forums.]

Hi I'm Jacqueline. Most of the time I cache on the weekend, as time permits, with my 3 year old son and hubby.

The problem is hubby doesn't always want to join me. I've cached alone, and just with son - and both are fine, but I much prefer to be part of a group. I discovered this a few times when meeting up with cachers at cache sites and pausing to talk and share stories. It would be nice to do something similar on a more organised basis.

I live near UBC, so west side Vancouver caching has been my thing. There are still many more for me to grab around here before I move further east. Daytrips appeal to me also.

Let me know if you are looking for a caching buddy, or to take a newbie under your wing.

  11. The best thing about geocaching is that it is open to anyone. The worst part about geocaching is... that it is open to anyone!

    Hear here!

Not all cachers are like that, so I am sorry you are getting discouraged. I'm a newb too, but so far I'm getting a really positive vibe. Although, I don't really attend events because I'm pretty shy at social events. It is a goal of mine to meet more cachers.

Maybe you'll come down to Vancouver some time. :anicute::D
