This friend wants a unit that they can reliably navigate work vehicle and geocache in a handheld unit. Price is pretty much open and they don't know the differences between Garmin and Magellan. I on the other hand lean towards Garmin but I do not want to force them into a unit that won't do all that they want it to.
Any help will be helpful. I know there are lovers of both types out there and I would like to keep it civil here.
BTW they are going out to look tomorrow 11-15-06 for the units.

I personally use the rechargables in my camera and GPSr. The brand I use is Digital Concepts from Wal-Mart. I tend to get all day out of the 2200MAh ones that came with the charger and about a day and a half out of the 2500MAh ones. The charger is one of the one hour style ones with trickle charge when done and has the house and car adaptors. The current packaging has 4 AA's, 4 AAA's, The charger, AC power pack, DC cord. All for about $20, Extra AA cells 4pk 6.97 AAA cells 4pk $4.97.

Add a dog or kids to the guy in the background! It would count for him being second to find!!!!

Whew! Yeah, I don't know if I'd drop that into a cache. Somebody might take a fancy to it, or at least you might lose the side mirrors and such as it traveled. .
Although, it would be a pretty fun 'event only' bug!
I didn't even think about taking it to events. I just want it to sit near my desk.

Any special plans for this TB?
Maybe!!!
I was thinking of setting it up on a Green Jeep That I bought, But the jeep is too big to put into a cache 1/18th scale (BTW it is the big brother to the gree jeep TB's we see out there)
Take a look at the pics I took of it here

I ordered some TB Dog tags and as I was going through them I noticed one was missing the activation code.
What can I do to get the code?
Thanks

Hi All
I'm travelling round the USA for 10 weeks and I've brought a travel bug with me. I need some help to get it into a cache though. Track the bug with TBQ8R9 and you'll see all the info.
I'll be in Chicago for the next few days before moving onto Denver, Salt Lake City, Vegas, L.A, San Francisco, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Washington D.C, Edenton NC and New York City.
If there's anybody out there that thinks they could take the bug off my hands and get it started on its travels I'd be really grateful. I don't have a GPS with me and my schedule's tight for finding the time to track a cache down.
Feel free to E-mail me at - the28wall@yahoo.co.uk OR I don't mind if you give me a call on 401 339 0990 to lend me your help.
Hope to hear from somebody.
Matt
I could possabily pick it up from you when you reach Salt Lake City. I live north of Salt Lake.

I'm thinking of putting up a cache near my place. But I want to keep muggles out since this cache will be the origin of many TBs I plan on putting out in the world.
I want to put a combination lock on it to keep the muggles out. The combination would be part of the cache name, in the description and hint. So geocachers could be able to open it up.
And no complicated puzzles either. I just want to put the combination out there for geocachers only.
Is this a good idea?
I'd suggest a confrence with Tommy Trojan. He has quite a few caches out there with locks on them. He should be able to give you some pointers on installing locks to the containers.
