  1. OK... in the order they came out of the box USA Tranquility - Its the only one of its kind I have, and I just love the stark contrast in colors. The detail is also inspirational. Greatest Cache of All - I got this one for my girls, but ended up having a hard time giving them away! I think it is the combination of artistry and the imagination that went into the concept. Silver/Red Journey - It just jumps out of the pile of coins. Friends that see my cache of geocoins always pull this one our and say "wow'. Alien Compass Rose - Its just cool and different, and the color detail is amazing! Oh, extra points for glowing in the dark Proximity and Permanence - These two GCC coins are takes on two of the geocaching guidelines, and do it in a classy way. 2008 Compass Rose - This one is a classic favorite I think. When you can just say a coin's name, and most folks know exactly which coin your talking about, you know you have a classic. This is one of those! Celtic Sun - I got this in one of my fist trades ever from the creator. This is just one of my coins that just finds its way to my hand without me thinking about it. No picture I've seen does the coin justice, especially this version which I think is an AE. Crown of Thorns - I like a lot of different type of coins, but I love the ones that really mean something. This is a work of art at many levels in my book. Blue/Gold Celtic Cross - I get weak-kneed at a lot of the Celtic and ancient culture coins, but this one is just amazing. I like holding it and looking deep into the blue and gold inlay. A striking and enchanting coin. I could help putting my sig coin in the mix with these great coins. That must be part of the magic of the geocoin. They become so personal and part of who we are as a community. When I see the Journey coin, I think of the person who made it. With other coins it is the thoughtful person that gifted it to me, or the person that traded. Rarely, but sometimes... it was the person that left the coin in a place (cache) for me to take and enjoy. There is also the group of coins that I only get to see in caches and then release; and someday I hope to own one of my own. If we were to so this list again, say, a year from now, I believe that it could look much different as people, places and experiences come and go from out lives. - Savoy
  2. I found this today in the Rising Cache (GC1MCN8) near Barra Beach - Brazil, the OusKonNe & Cetyla Geocoin (TB26G8A) - WOW, this thing has some kilometers/miles on it!! The other coin I tried to visit today was not in the cache (must have been 'dipped'). - Savoy
  3. Well... I should have called this thread "what 'should have been' in the cache today" Before I left the Memphis area, I purposely went after three caches that should have had some interesting coins in them - but unfortunately, they were already AWOL. I'm going to hit a few places tomorrow that should have a coin or two... I hope to find and post them tomorrow. BTY, all the coins in the Oasis Cache that I placed yesterday have all be discovered or picked up! Wow, that was quick. - Savoy
  4. That Turtle is BEAUTIFUL!!!! DJ.J.ROCK, I wish I had that "first coin" too... it was a Signal coin... but I'm not sure which. Truth is, I didn't know what it was until after the fact! This went into the Oasis Cache today: Along with this... and for whoever wants it...
  5. Package repaired and dropped in the mail!
  6. That is a cool coin - Thanks for sharing it! I wouldn't mind running into one of those myself, but there isn't one ANYWHERE near here.
  7. Thank you... and thanks to the thread host for the idea. I'm not sure I have ever written down this story before so it was a great chance to be reminded and share, as well as to be encouraged by all the other posts! - Sav
  8. We have a thread for stories and pictures of geocoins that arrived in your mailbox - usually for trades or purchases, but what about those WONDERFUL coins that you find in an actual cache that you DIDN"T keep - perhaps in was activated and on a mission, unactivated and you decided to leave it for the next person, etc. Post your pictures and stores of coins you found in caches and sent on their way. Though not a full 'coin-test', I have marked several coins on my "wish to see" list - (I like seeing the coins, but really don't keep too many in a collection). If their picture/story appears in this thread, I'll send a Unity Dragon Coin as a 'thanks for sharing' award. OK... I'm out to do some caching, perhaps I'll be the first to post!
  9. As I started to write this story about my first date with my soul mate, which happen to be on a Valentine’s Day, and realized that in order to tell the whole ‘love story’ that I had to back up several years before our first meeting face-to-face. Even to this day, I have a hard time wrapping my brain around the whole thing. But first, like many others have already stated in this threat, you have to realize that I don’t believe in accidents – I believe in Miracles. Savoy (Les) and Elisa at home in Rio Elisa was starting her Senior Year in High School in Montana. One night, while her parents sat down stairs, her boyfriend put a pillow over her face, and raped her. Though the details of the location changed, this scene would repeat itself over the next two months with increasing frequency. Finally, when someone noticed the bumps and bruises, the abuse stopped, the boy went away, she was pregnant - and even more alone than ever. Everyone, especially the family didn’t understand why she wouldn’t just get rid of the baby – effectively erasing the family embarrassment (on many levels) but she refused. The family shunned her as it began to be impossible to hide the secret anymore. The boy returned, and beat her in the stomach, in hopes that the attack would abort the baby. This time she fought back. He wouldn’t return again. Elisa sat with her high school classmates while six months pregnant, just a few months before she would give the Valedictorian address. A college music group filed in the gym, I happened to be a member. Though I was raised in a wonderful Christian home, and am a spiritual person myself, the program was meant to recruit students for the college and purely for entertainment. That night, I sang a duet called, “Somewhere out there” from An American Tail. The song really did some up our lives up to that point. I was 24 but since I was 15 years-old, I had been calling out to God on behalf of my future wife – not ‘for’ a wife (I was having a great time dating – a lot), but that whoever she was, that she would be cared for and helped through whatever the world may be throwing at her. That night Elisa remembers me singing out to her these words: Somewhere out there beneath the pale moonlight Someone's thinking of me and loving me tonight Somewhere out there someone's saying a prayer That we'll find one another in that big somewhere out there And even though I know how very far apart we are It helps to think we might be wishing on the same bright star And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby It helps to think we're sleeping underneath the same big sky Somewhere out there if love can see us through Then we'll be together somewhere out there Out where dreams come true And even though I know how very far apart we are It helps to think we might be wishing on the same bright star And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby It helps to think we're sleeping underneath the same big sky Somewhere out there if love can see us through Then we'll be together somewhere out there Out where dreams come true I believe in Miracles. I filed back out of the room never meeting Elisa. A short time after graduation, Elisa drove herself to a hospital an hour and half away, and gave birth to a baby boy. That evening she handed him to his new parents and the next morning she drove herself back home. I believe in Miracles. Elisa attended college that visited her high school on a scholarship and working for the tuition – her family would not help her. A year later, we met in the music department. A group of us decided to go to a ‘sock hop’ on Valentine’s Day. As it got closer to time to go to the dance, someone called in a very lame excuse… and then another, and another, until only Elisa and I remained. We were setup. We went anyway (I have to admit that I was not too happy about being ‘pushed’ into a date) and even won the dance contest that night as a couple. I believe in Miracles. Six months later, we were married. That was 21 years ago, today. Elisa and I share passions, and now, a strong faith. Our love only grows deeper. We’ve been blessed with three wonderful children – and have traveled the world together as a team in every sense of the word. The Family Today One more thing. On our 5th anniversary, we got a phone call from a little boy. Though the adoption was ‘closed’, the child that Elisa was pressured to discard, wanted to meet us. We not only met, but he has been a part of our lives and family ever since. Brendan The love of my life is a person of integrity, strength, and passion the degree of which amazes me, every day. Yes, I believe in Miracles because I married mine.
  10. You're welcome... and the timing of it all. You, Crowesfeat30, and 'Sofi and Holmbiorn' have the only complete sets in the world , and you all posted within almost minutes of each other! Thank you guys, I posted on the previous page the wonderful coins I'm taking back to Brazil with me!
  11. Great second day! AND since I'm back on the road today, the only cam I have is a "built-in", so you need have a sense of humor with my pictures and a little imagination but, I hope you'll get a sense of how cool these coins are! My "Permanence" coin arrived - I've been looking forward to have a partner to my "Proximity" coin. I got 2 LE Silver and Red Journey Coins from my second "by-mail" trade - WOW, these are beautiful. I also got a silver Neverland Coin, a AE black-nickel Celtic Moon (WOW), and an AE "Eclipse" Celtic Sun in polished nickel (double WOW). For the second day in a row, I'm just blown away by the artistry of this set of coins!
  12. Want List emailed in ... thanks for all your work on this!! - Savoy
  13. Well, I have a confession Though I have several coins in my collection, I've never really received anything from the 'mailbox' - just hand to hand, or cache to hand. We'll after months of waiting, that changed! Pictured here are, 4 journey coins (copper, silver, and bronze), 3 Wherigo Coins and 2 '06 Signal Coins, 2 coins that shall-not-be-named, 1 Alien Compass Rose, and a beautiful pathtag from Crowsfeat30 with a Blue/Gold Celtic Cross which was a trade (my first ever). I also got to see for the first time in RL the Unity Dragon Coins, in Silver, Bronze/Gold, and the LE Copper. This is the Blue/Gold Celtic Cross... just a wonderful coin! I glad on many levels that this was my first 'by-mail' trade. These are the RL images of the three versions of the Unity Dragon. Only the ant.silver and ant.bronze/gold were sold. The ant.copper is a trade only coin (left). I was just tickled at the richness of the metal colors! I put my military school ring (Citadel) by the bronze/gold to show off the color. The bronze almost perfectly matches my gold ring, and the copper has deep rich tones; I couldn't be more happy with them! I wasn't sure how I would feel about the transparent parts of the Journey Coin, but all three version of those coins are marvelous. I JUST LOVE this guy's GC art work - a very talented man. Anyway, I just wanted to be able to post here finally Thanks! - Savoy
  14. OK, We're in! Below are my to GeoPuppies. Mezzo is 7 months, and Arpeggio is 7 weeks. Mezzo, my GeoLab Arpeggio, future GeoYorkie? (Well, we'll see ) We live and GeoCache in Brazil (Rio de Janeiro) and when we get back in the US, Arkansas. Savoy and Mezzo, Caching near Barra de Tijuca
  15. I'm trying to find the best place to ask this question... and the "mailbox" thread seems to be the best please to start - please feel free to redirect me if I'm 'out of bounds' here. :-) I want to 'surprise' someone that has been very helpful to me recently with a little token of my appreciation, but I'm new to this actually so, - how are you guys exchanging address, etc. without 'letting the cat out of the bag' so to speak? Thanks, Sav
  16. Welcome to geocaching Mike! I'm sure there is a FAQ on travel bugs, but I know that it can be confusing at first... geocachings, geocoins, travel bugs, pathtags, oh my! Once you use the activation code to 'turn on' your travel bug (TB), you be giving a number that you can use to reference it in public. You can think of this as its public name. You can share it, write about to others, blog it, whatever. If someone wants to do a search on-line or on geocaching.com to find out about it... its reference name is what they can us. The number printed on the coin is its private name or tracking number. You should never post a message with this number, take pictures of that number and post it, etc. because knowledge of this number is evidence that you have actually had the object in your name in 'real life' (RL). To add a log on geocaching.co. (GC.com) that you 'discovered', picked up, or dropped off this coin, you have to supply this number. You'll see in time, all trackables (TBs and Geocoins) have a reference number and a tracking number. I hope that helps, you take care, and welcome to the game! - Savoy
  17. If you are mostly in the US, then I suggest ExpertGPS or Geobuddy (ExpertGPS for geocachers). See this link: http://www.geobuddy.com/ If you are outside of the US, then you can still use these, but you have to add your own base maps - not a big deal buy not nearly as nice as the US 'on demand' features. These also integrate with GoogleEarth so you can see your tracks as a layer there too. Take care! Sav
  18. Glad you like them (I'm still waiting for mine!!!), but wanted to point out that those are Journey coins, not the tengwars LOL - and I'm waiting for my Unity Dragon coins too! (Scavok is the Journey Coin guy, and I'm the Unity Dragon "Square one" guy) I actually bought the journey coin too - I'm really waiting on both Oh, The Irony of it all!!!

Thank you, I'm glad you're happy with them!! I'm getting hit hard in the old mail box for folks looking for more coins, so I'm letting a few more go through http://cointracking.com though they'll cost a couple of bucks more now. I noticed a few being released on eBay by "geoCache and release" traders too. I'm going to see my first one in Real Life when I return to the states Feb. 8th, a little less than two weeks. I JUST CAN'T WAIT. I didn't get too many of the standard finishes, but do have a little collection of the ant.cooper LE which I'm going to use exclusively as RL cache rewards and sig. coins. Thanks for the love! Savoy

Yes, they'll have their own icon... I'm not sure why there is a delay on getting the icon associated with the coin listings, but so far CnPs have been on top of things so I'm not worried about it actually happening. If it doesn't appear by the end of the initially shipping period, I'll email them and see what the delay might be.
  22. Good dates... I never get to attend the May event because I'm only in the US during June and July. I'm there as long at I'm in the US!

Boy am I jealous! I'm happy they turned out well, and can't wait to REALLY see one myself. I'll be back from Brazil in a couple more weeks - I'd love to see a pic of one of these in someone's hand!! I think it will seem more 'real' to me then. As I told someone that email me today about the coin, I'm happy you're happy with them. Its a good sign the project turned out well. I'll be writing about some LE (copper) trades after the 19th of Feb. or so. Take care! Sav
