  1. We have a winner My daughters enjoy watching the reports on Santa's location come in over the course of Christmas Eve at www.noradsanta.org .
  2. Absolutely right for part one. Anyone for the remaining questions?
  3. A multi with a Christmas theme: What bi-national organization tracks Santa's route on Christmas Eve? When did they start tracking Santa? Why did they start tracking Santa? How does Rudolph help with the tracking? Bonus Q: What is the difference between Santa's weight at the begninning and at the end of his journey?
  4. Coca Cola portrayed Santa wearing red in an advertising campaign. Or, maybe it's so that it matches Rudolph's nose.
  5. The organizers of tonight's event in Mississauga posted a note a few days ago saying there is now more space available.
  6. I take my dog with me. She's cute and fluffy but she barks and growls convincingly when someone is coming along the trail.
  7. Sounds like a lovely idea. I know my kids would enjoy finding a cache like this one. Welcome to caching ... it's addictive. CanadaKate
  8. Our geo-pup is a help and a hindrance all at the same time. She's happy to hike as far as we want to go ... but she picks up every burr, leaf and mud particle in the entire forest.
  9. Here in Ontario, Canada, if we didn't do snow caching we wouldn't have much to do for several months of the year. For some photos of my kids (Team_BG) going the extra mile to extricate a snowbound cache, check out the photos from 1/1/09 at GCH0D1 . This was a cache that we had DNF'd in the summer due to just too much vegetation not to mention nasty insects. It was easier to find in the winter than the summer. Have fun this winter! 10. Hi, I'm in Toronto but would be delighted to attend a GSAK workshop as I currently don't have a clue about how to go paperless. CanadaKate [ Sounds like a good topic for a future SWOG event Yes, yes it does.... currently writing that on my "to-do" list!
  11. I think this is definitely case of "to each his (or her) own". I can understand why it's often more tempting for people to hunt a short multi ... but my family's favourite so far was a 16 stage multi that took us four visits to finally reach the final: GCQCMV We enjoyed the great experiences along the way. The next multi we're thinking of tackling only has 11 stages. I think it's less about the # of stages and more about how possible they all are. I'd hesitate to tackle 4 evil stages but have no problem with 12+ moderately difficult one.s
  12. Not so many milestones for me yet, but I did choose #50 (in California on a visit from Canada) and #100 (a nice multi) with care. My kids, who cache under a different name, bypassed an easy 100th because they said "Mom, we don't want our 100th cache to be called Fungus Tree" and decided to have their hundreth cache be an after-event gathering. As I head for 200, I am alert for a meaningful cache. Maybe I'll be more jaded as I head into the thousands ... or not ...much of the fun of caching, for me, is to set targets and meet them (as long as there are some nice hikes and ammo cans along the way.
  13. Found ours at Play it Again Sports in Toronto ... disguised as hockey tape.
  14. When I had my first cache published a week or so ago, it only took 4 or 5 hours from the time I submitted it until it was published even though I had made a beginner's error that the reviewer corrected. Thanks, CacheMinder.
  15. Sorry ... I'll try to do a better job of uploading pix from the other computer tomorrow.
  16. Here's what was in E of Team_BG's package from Just a Trifle.
  17. My daughter, E of Team_BG, was very happy to receive her birthday package today ... all the way from Australia to Canada. She was delighted with the intriguing and generous contents. I'll try to post photos tomorrow before the gifts all disappear into her room. Many thanks to the sender (JustaTrifle) for a wonderful package ... these missions are great at keeping my kids engaged with caching. All the best, CanadaKate
  18. Nope .. but I (and my family) see potential geocache spots everywhere. We can't drive by a ravine anymore without at least one person saying "That would be a good place for a geocache," A few times we've wondered if the other people near GZ were cachers but when we've later checked the online logs, there haven't been any from them. Guess they were muggles acting suspiciously while trying to be stealthy while walking their dog.
  19. When I was an even newer newbie than I am now, I participated in a geocoin contest. There were some great poems/take offs on nursery rhymes. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...=205205&hl=
  20. Welcome ... it's a great way to get kids out into the woods. When we tell our girls that we're going for a hike, they moan; when we tell them we're going caching, they want to know if they can hold the GPSr and who gets first pick of the swag. CanadaKate (mom to the Team_BG girls)
  21. Talk about excellent timing: my daughter, S of Team_BG, received her birthday package *on* her birthday. She was very excited. I'd love to post pictures but the treasure disappeared into her room so fast! I did see two lovely geocoins, a personal pathtag, candy necklaces, hair ties and other treasures. Many thanks, on S's behalf, to the E&Cplus3 family for a great birthday parcel.
  22. Here's one in Ontario, Canada. It includes a photo of the happy couple. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GCH02G
