  1. Ok, this isn't exactly photoshop material, but it is fun! Check this out: Geocache-mobile Commercial
  2. Yes I did and I just filled it out! How did you answer the question about stripsearching for cache containers?
  3. I'm looking at City Select Europe in Mapsource - looks very detailed. I haven't had a chance to try it out in my 60cs yet but that seems like what you probably need.
  4. So what are the "community standards" as to whether I should log a second find on GCP721, Miramar Lake Overlook Park, if I go find the new cache? Judging from the coords and description, it's apparently just steps away from the old location, but a different kind of container and a different kind of hide. Seems to me that, even though it's the "same" cache, if I go there, hunt for it, and find it, I've accomplished the same thing as having found a "different" cache, so I ought to log a find again. Is that considered kosher? Thanks. That situation has happened to me many times when people I'm with find a cache that I've already found. Many times the cache container is different and the cache has been moved. I personally would never log a cache I've already found because it's still a multiple find on the same cache. But I'm still debating Duncan's idea of logging finds for each slice of pizza that we eat at an event...... I'm wondering how the Miramar cache mentioned above became a "different kind of hide" and yet still has the same GC code? On the cache owner's page, changing the type is not possible (at least not on ours). And regarding Chupy 1, I'm surprised someone would want to move a cache 1/2 mile away and have it be the same cache. I'm going to change our only cache from a multi to a traditional cache. It looks like the proper way to do that is to archive the multi and create a new traditional cache using the actual cache location. One nice thing is that people who've found the old cache can log the new cache -- if they want to.
  5. I agree with RM's sentiments BUT, here's the thing - if GC.com didn't want anyone logging a cache more than once, they easily could have programmed the site to prevent it. It's not something I'd do though. I'd probably archive my own cache and create a new one in the same place so others can come back and log it again if that's what I wanted them to do.
  6. Hmm, reminds me of something...
  7. Wow, that's pretty impressive!
  8. Next photo will be with the Rubi fully modified. Parts are on order. Stay tuned. Oh, have you got your matching t-shirts!? P.S. There are enough Wrangler owners out there - do you all have sticks or automatics? Is there a preference for off-roading?
  9. We went up to Palomar today - besides not having any of the caches in the GPSr, we weren't really in the mood for excavation caching . It was gorgeous though - there were still piles of snow up in the trees (although plenty found its way down onto our heads). And relatively quiet - great sledding. We brought a load of snow back with us but it didn't last long! Took lots of video and only two stills: Looks like fun. Were you in the main park? How crowded was it? Hindsight says we should have gone there.....next time.... Anyhow, it is supposed to rain there on Saturday too, but if it doesn't........ We went to the area right across the street from Mother's (after first heading down to the north park and then over to the observatory). The best sledding was right there. It wasn't crowded at all - there might have been a dozen other people there - we could pick from many spots to sled down (some rather adventuresome ones too), although it started to pick up by the time we left. It's strange how they leave all the CHAINS REQUIRED signs up when the road is nearly 100% clear, although I guess at night the melting snow can freeze and be challenging. We actually saw some motorcyclists up there (talk about "die-hard" ).

  11. We just got the hail out by the WAP! It was wild! See my photos on the "This Just In" thread! My yard in La Mesa looked just like that!! Cool thunder too. Wot! no "Arrgh?" ARRGH! Shiver me frozen timbers, matey!
  12. Ask this guy? http://www.djlang.net/GPS.htm
  13. Why are you indoors? It's nice out here on the coast - we're kinda missing all the exciting weather everyone else is getting. Here's today's alternative to geocaching at 11:45 in La Costa... What the heck! We're missing all the fun (Del Mar area)

  15. Interesting article in today's UT on using walking sticks. We've got 3 sticks in the family, and they're indispensable. I thought I'd mainly use them for poking for ammo cans, but can't imagine a trail hike without them. I finally got one and I love it! But on the longer steeper hikes I wish I had two! I just ordered a second one from REI - thanks to their 20% discount and my "dividend", I'm getting it for free!
  16. Hehe, the difference is, our snow is avoidable! You won't find any between the ocean and around 3000' above sea level. It's there if you want it and not if you don't!

  18. should be an interesting weekend. Yeowsers.
  19. Look on the bright side, you can just hop up Palomar and go sledding! I heard that there may be snow in highly unusual places this weekend, like the Mojave desert and Joshua Tree! FYI, this is a good site for forecasts - you can click all around the county instead of having to type anything in: http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/sgx/
