    Where am I?

    Spot on. Take it away!
  2. Well played indeed - for those still wondering - its those crazy 3d pictures where you have to unfocus your eyes to see the 3 d image. I still can't see them! You are up Elsies Ha. I should've known this - it was under discussion at our recent coffee in Obs!!

    Where am I?

Nowhere close yet. Here's a hint. It's not too far from the cache which Sheila is looking for below:

    Where am I?

Head more south-west. I'll post a hint tomorrow if there are no takers.

    Where am I?

All right then. The cache is "Stone Kraal" (GCZ36M). I have a few pictures up my sleeve. Watch this space.

    Where am I?

Harties, yes. View to the north, Schurveberg or Confessions, No. Come on RedGlobe - you found this one Haha, it was too easy to find out which cache this was, even though I haven't visited it myself. I'll refrain from answering for the moment, but here's a hint: it starts with an S...
  9. I have arrived in the Western Cape and while the weather has played havoc with my initial plans, Monday turned out to be the perfect day for caching in Silvermine. Crisp cool day with virtually no wind. I haven't solved all the puzzle ridge caches, so I was in no hurry to find as many as I can, since I plan to come back for the other puzzles - if I managed to solve them, that is. q: I started off by finding the first waypoint of "Follow the Dog!" and then proceeding up the hill to the two puzzles I did manage to solve. Up to the elephant's eye, then to his other eye and down to Sentinel View and from there back to the car. I still had the legs to climb a hill or two, but I wanted to show my girlfriend the Chapman's Peak drive, and time was running out. I'll do a cache or two in the next few days, but my conference is keeping me busy until 18:00 each day, so it'll have to be nightcaching! And of course the cache "Muizenberg Multi #2" which is around the corner from AIMS, where my conference is (I've already found the first couple of stages in the break over lunch). Ooh! And I see that "Muizenberg Multi #1" has been replaced! Thank you SawaSawa!
  10. I've used my new BlackBerry Curve 8900 for the first time today for GeoCaching with CacheBerry, and I found it less than ideal. Granted, I was doing a multi-cache and my main pain was that there doesn't seem to be a way to navigate to waypoints one after the other, which was annoying. Currently I use my GPS for geocaching, and I carry my BlackBerry with me with all the cache info preloaded for paperless caching in the field. I did a lot of the caches in the silvermine area yesterday, where there is very limited cellphone reception in places, and the GPS+BB combination worked like a charm. Having said that, I've downloaded BlackStar and will use it over the next few days to do a cache or two. I'll report back on its performance with the BB as a caching device.
  11. I had an issue that only a small subset of my caches were getting county information. Turned out that it was a firewall issue! I tried again on a different internet connection, and all's well now. Thanks Jors!
  12. Ek sien nou eers dat jy verwantwoordelik was vir die dataset vir die SA munisipaliteite! Goeie werk!
  13. Ah. That solves the problem. Partially, at least - it seems like not all caches has municipality information yet.
  14. Maybe I'm a little thick, but I can't get this to work. GSAK updates the counties for some of the European countries I've cached in, but the South African "counties" aren't updates. How do I do this?
  15. I've already gotten into a bit of trouble, and I'm not even in the Western Cape yet. I've been very subtly placing words like "fitness" and "endurance training" in various sentences, and now I'm being accused of calling her fat. Upon explanation, the accusation changed to not having any faith in her at all. I might have to swap the bubbly stuff for some sparkly stuff set in platinum if I want to make it down the mountain alive!
  16. Thanks for the info, Doc. I reckon I'll start some fitness training with my maintenance run of my own caches on the little koppie (by WC standards...). I can always do the bunch of caches over two days if need be. Then, on another note, there's that overdue cuppa that needs to be scheduled...
  17. The day before I left for the Ivory Coast, I did that cache and saw your racer, but alas, I couldn't grab it, because I've handled it before.
  18. Thanks paddawan! My next question would have been whether Elephant's Proctology is reachable from that side, because I've had my eye on it as well. I've also had a look at Mines of Moria and wanted to do it, hence the question about that area. I'm pretty OK with all-day hikes, but haven't done one in a while, so I guess I might have to hit the gym in preparation. And, of course, put in another effort for Number Crunch 2, and the new puzzle or two which I see have appeared. If the weather is decent I might even jump in the water for a surfing session.
  19. The time has come for Besem's Grand Muizenberg Caching Spree! I will be visiting Muizenberg from 9-17 July, and I will have the days of 10-12 July available for caching. The plan so far is to spend a day doing the Silvermine caches (puzzle ridge in particular) and finally bagging Sentinel View and another day doing other caches in the area. So I have a few questions. How strenuous is the Silvermine hike if I wish to do pretty much everything that's possible? I'm pretty sure I'll be fine on such a hike, but I'm dragging my girlfriend along, so if I need to start her fitness training it has to start now. Also, if anyone is interested in joining me on caching trips during those three days it would be awesome. Also, how feasible is it to walk from Kalkbay train station up to do the cluster of caches around Echo's Edge (GC1Z4PE)? So many caches, so little time! Of course, I prefer quality over quantity, so any suggestions in that regard would be most welcome. I enjoyed the few Cism puzzles I have done to date - I like puzzles and good multis, so there's also the option to go on a Cism cache spree. Anyway, looking forward to my WC visit.
  20. Eish - you've had chances to discover the Africa coin! I had it at the event at the Walter Sisulu gardens... Corner me at the next event we see each other at, and I'll be happy to let you handle it.

Geluk met jou 1000 Danie! Baie geluk aan veer-innie-hoed vir sy 200e cache, al het die ^%#&^$ drie FTFs voor my weggeraap. ;p
  22. From what I've read it can be done by combining Garmap & OSM into one gmapsupp.img file using Mapsource. You then use the Map Info button on the Nuvi to chose which map to display. Trouble is that I haven't come across an OSM compiled map that can be loaded into Mapsource yet. The link I gave above doesn't have the Mapsource file. Anyone know of a site? When I was in Europe I used this site to generate maps that are MapSource ready. I don't know how detailed the SA maps are, however. This site is a useful resource for getting OSM maps when you travel elsewhere. Some are Garmin ready, some are not. I've been happy with the mileage I get.
  23. I second that. You're providing an awesome service to the local geocaching community!
