  1. it would seem that a particular GC.com member has generated in excess of five thousand discover logs over the past few days

most (maybe all) of the items discovered appear to have tracking codes that begin with "PC0"

indications are that the discover logs were made in such a way as to suppress the usual e-mail that notifies the owner

I do not think that it is my place to name names

(I have sent an e-mail to Groundspeak)

if you have a collection of trackable items that do not leave your possession, you should be able to easily detect such items by requesting a list of your owned items, sorting by last logged date, and examining a few of the items with recent dates

to me, this is a disturbing new development

up to now, all of the bogus logging appears to have been done manually

but based on the volume of the logs, and the speed with which they were done, this looks like an automated process

whether you find such behavior creative (and welcome it) or find it obnoxious (and elect to delete the logs) is entirely up to you

I find such behavior obnoxious. Five of my geocoins were logged by this jerk, and I have deleted them. What's his point anyway? There are no prizes for the cacher with the most discoveries. Why does a jerk like this have to spoil the fun of others anyway? I have no problem naming this cheater. His caching handle is "ithink314". Obviously he doesn't "think" about what he does to the integrity of our hobby.

  2. Why did you have to screw-up a good thing? Where is the option to select your own state and see a list of the events for the next several months? Where is the option to see a list of the new caches and new TB drops in your area? I really don't care if there is an event in Belgium next week or if a travel bug was dropped into a cache in Nova Scotia yesterday! Also it appears that cache websites developed in HTML format are having the left 20% of the page cut off (e.g. GC1A9E2).

  3. Today's release represents a significant update to Geocaching.com. Although there have been numerous bug fixes, the primary focus has been to improve the process for creating and renewing Premium Memberships.

We are now offering 4 different ways of purchasing a Premium Membership, with both PayPal and credit cards being accepted. PayPal no longer requires a subscription ID and both methods are instant. Any active PayPal (renewing) subscriptions will remain valid unless, or until, it is canceled for whatever reason.

    PayPal

    • $30 Annual Premium Membership (Non-Renewing)

Credit Card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover)

    • 1 Year Premium Membership (Auto-Renew) - $30 USD/Year
    • 1 Year Premium Membership - $30 USD/Year
    • 3 Month Premium Membership (Auto-Renew) - $10 USD/3 Months

And now for the bug fixes! Here they are in no particular order:

    • Updated email notifications for Premium Membership
    • The "renew" membership link will now only appear if the membership is within 60 days of expiration

We still have plenty to keep us busy, so if your favorite bug didn't make it into this release, fear not. We will get to it as soon as possible.

  4. Where can I get the activation code for a 2006 NWPA (Northwest Pennsylvania Geocachers) coin? Previous posts have said that the code is on the sleeve. Not so with my coin. Other posts have said that geocoin club can activate it. Not so. I even sent a photo of both sides of the coin to the geocoin club and was told that it is not a coin in their system. I have contacted the person who sold me the coin on e-bay and he can't provide an activation code either. On the back of this coin it says "track this coin geocaching.com". So where do I go from here? Help!?
