  1. Fine, but you missed the point. The "rocket science" comment was aimed at figuring out why you don't see a rating system, which is aimed at the comment that obviously Jeremy does have better things to do with his time.
  2. Does that mean I shouldn't use this as a cache container?
  3. I'm sure Jeremy keeps very busy, but did you notice that Jeremy appeared to have a favorable view of a "favorite caches" rating system, perhaps very similar to Markwell's proposal. To decide he "has better things to do" should be his own decision. At least in the past, he had a positive outlook on a "list of favorites" style of ratings. See earlier in this thread for Markwell's proposal and link to Jeremy's comments. Yes, I'm quite aware of his previous post. Do you see a rating system implemented? Hence my comment. Not rocket science, now, is it?
  4. I have only cached out of my home state once, but when I did, I found Carleenp's "Saxman Needs to Visit Nebraska" cache, 231 miles as the crow flies, NNE of me.
  5. IF If some folks can find a thousand caches, Then why can't I find one? Although I'm having fun, The caches just aren't there. I'd rather find an ammo box, Or tupperware out there, A micro's just too small And only makes me swear. Then one by one, my cache count starts to rise, Before my very eyes, They're appearing everywhere.
  6. Neither of my websites mention caching. The URL's are both in my sig line, but I must warn you: One site contains pictures that may not be suitable for anyone eating dinner (or planning to eat for the next few days). I had to add that disclaimer because of all the whiney, namby-pamby people who seem to be averse to seeing people's faces in various states of disarray.
  7. Well, I'm not worried about that happening. Have you looked at the competition? Besides, a rating system on caches that only a handful would use, and the other handful would abuse isn't gonna be a deciding factor in the success of this site. Oh, yeah....that's funny!
  8. It'd be simpler just to not have Jeremy implement a rating system. He's got better things to do with his time, I'm sure.
  9. narcissistic adj : characteristic of those having an inflated idea of their own importance [syn: egotistic, egotistical, self-loving] Pot meet kettle.
  10. Wow, talk about a one trick pony! Must EVERY thread be about vacation caches with you? You always seem to say what I'm thinking.....that's scary!
  11. It's an AS thing......tomorrow is "Cartoon Day", so I started a bit early.
  12. One thing I am not clear on is, do you actually have to submit an essay or picture to win a Jeep?? Is catching and logging a YJTB enough?? It is just my 5 year old and I going caching, so pictures are tough to get composed.....and I dont know if our walks in the woods are enough to win a smile, elt alone a Jeep... shadango No, you can enter from the front page of gc.com.....there's a link there that will take you to a form to fill out to enter the contest.
  13. Just checked the log for the other cache that had a YJTB on the same day I got mine (yeah, apparently only two made it this far from KC), and it's already being reported as MIA. Looks like it was there about 4 days. Dropped on the 29th of June, one person logged finding the cache on the 3rd of July but doesn't mention the TB at all , then the next finder makes a note that the TB is already gone from the cache . Hmmm.....doesn't look good for the guy that logged the cache on the 3rd. Anyone wanna send him an email and ask him about it? PM me for the name. I won't post it here, as that wouldn't be proper, and I don't want to accuse him of anything, just that it looks pretty suspicious......
  14. Thank you. That is what I was trying to point out before I was so rudely rebuffed. Good luck on your trip, KA. I read about what Criminal has planned for you over on the NW forums, and I envy you! Sounds like fun!
  15. Hoo, boy. Here we go again. Couldn't you have phrased that better? It really doesn't sound good to call RK's opinions "spewing garbage".
  16. Nope, not all of them. Between the state quarters and the bicentennial quarters (waaaaayyyyyyyyy back in 1976), Sunshine and I have over $500 worth. We didn't "buy" any of them, just collected them from pocket change. I found my YJTB, as I mentioned earlier, and will move it along. When I saw a watchlist notice pop up in my email box, I was on the road after the TB in less than 3 minutes, and had the TB in my possession in under 25 minutes. Hey, what can I say, I just wanted to jump on the bandwagon!! As much as I love writing, I didn't write a story or try to win a Jeep. It was just a part of caching I wanted to experience for myself, much like locationless, virtuals, micros, traditionals, and BM's. I've vowed to at least try each part of caching, to give it a fair chance. I don't like all types of caching, but at least I experienced them so I can say I did. Thanks, Jeremy, for the opportunity to do it!
  17. How do you tell it's a deer tick by looking? That would be handy to know! Condolences on...that other thing. Look for the antlers.
  18. Well, I think it's pretty rude to hoard them like that. I've got one in my possession, but haven't been caching since I found it. I'll get it moving next time I go caching. As far as the "commercialization" thing, I don't mind that Jeremy did so much work to get this thing running, and I hope those that do remember when there were so many threads every day complaining about slow servers. I seriously doubt that Jeremy pocketed any money from the deal, if there was any. I'm sure there must've been some money involved, but I'm equally sure that Jeremy used it to better the site in the way of better/more servers, better equipment in general. I can't see that the "commercialization" has had any negative effects on the site, or on geocaching as a whole.
  19. Pitiful.....just pitiful.....Come on, Pony Boy! What, won't they let ya take yer laptop into the ICU with you? Heck, they've got enough worthless medical stuff there like heart monitors, O2 monitors, BP monitors, End Tidal Volume monitors, respirators, etc.....don't ya think you could unplug at least one of those to make way for your laptop so you could keep approving caches? Sheesh! Barefoot in the snow, uphill both ways....you know what I mean? Take care of yourself, Michael....the caches can wait.
  20. Very well put, Captain Chaoss!! A properly used Markwell can be a blessing at times, but a blunt "We already talked about this here!" Markwell can be very rude, and quite often a show-stopper. Give someone else a chance to discuss a topic and don't manhandle the topic to go the direction you want it to go.
  21. Absolutely correct. Why bother starting a new thread, when there is an old thread with the same topic. Just by posting a response a month, 6 months, a year later, doesn't change anything with that old thread. And, it's right there for people to reference, they don't have to open up another thread to find out what is being discussed and why.
