  1. and so it is goodnight from one and all and thanks for the discussion!!
  2. So are virtuals lame - This seems to be the point of the discussion now
  3. Sounds like a brilliant idea - I sincerely hope tat the powers that be grant you your cache.
  4. Earthcaches were under discussion. Virtuals are still supported Waymarking was not under discussion but I am happy to support your right to bring it into the discusson if you feel it relevant.
  5. I fail to follow the logic that 'obviously virtuals are lame'. This discussion has clearly demonstrated that people do want virtuals on the website but it is the geocaching website - you are possibly getting confused between the websites!! Let's not go off topic and start debating Waymarking again. Keep it on track - please.
  6. Great idea to leave the new coords for a while at the original location. This would have prevented a number of DNFs in the past.
  7. RK I do not understand your comment re grasshopper. What are the asterisks? Confused
  8. Flask The cachers I meet are very friendly and I have not met any who have not welcomed the chat. These include cachers of many nationalities. Why allow the few cachers you do not wish to meet spoil the rewarding experience of meeting the majority of cachers who are friendly. By all means give a false name if you wish to remain anonymous. It is intriguing that one can easily remain anonymous in the forums but that is not 'real' life!! Or is it?? Go out and enjoy the extended caching family where all are welcome. I would welcome a chat with you as a fellow cacher regardless of all else.
  9. It seems that we are violently agreeing. Labelling it as an earthcache does not make it good. What makes it good and a WOW is the cacher taking the time and effort to make it a WOW cache. The success of the cache depends on the design and the skill of the cache originator.
  10. I saw this and got quite excited: Today, 03:46 PM Last post by: TrailGators Then I realised that it was not the last post but the latest post. Scintillating discusson about - sorry I have forgotten what the original subject was again! Looking forward to the next exciting installment.
  11. I would not jump to conclusions about lying!! Perhaps it was a genuine misunderstanding - try a courteous email.
  12. Go and say hello and search together ! This is not the Olympicsand for me it is not a competition but a astime involving a pleasant walk in the countryside and if I get an additional chat that is a bonus!
  13. You asked for opinions - mine is that you can go ahead and log it. Remember this is a game which we do for fun !! However after some cache hunts in nettles and through mud I sometimes need to be reminded that we do it for fun. Peter
  14. If someone pleads for a detailed hint I would give explicit directions. This is about helping each other to enjoy the game. Some people do not want detailed hints biut others do. Help people to get what they want from the game!
  15. The earth caches we have visited have been a real WOW and we thank the cachers who have taken the time and trouble to research the information and provide an interesting location. To state that earth caches 'seldom' take you to aninteresting place is disrespectful to the cachers who have done their homework and worked hard to provide cachers withan interesting cache. I am grateful for the earthcaches I have had the privilege to visit.
  16. Can anyone tell me what UK maps are available for these GPS models please? Peter
  17. QUOTE(Roadtorque @ Aug 15 2008, 11:46 PM) Encouraging doubt makes no sense not only in religion but in anything where there is a teacher student relation. Encouraging doubt is to be encouraged. This is the basis of discovering the world around us. Challenge and investigate - it may well be that in the end the concept being challenged is sound but the journey to investigate may well have many positive side effects!
  18. Stating - the contents are harmless - does not give any guarantees of course. I eagerly await some advice and guidance on the police advice for reducing the fears that we have left bombs. No doubt Groundspeak will be able to update the guidelines.
  19. People often resort to humour in embarrassment or difficult times. I do have sympathy but sadly can only offer platitudes. It seems that you have a detailed investigation in progress to determine the culprit. Take care and do not jump to any conclusions.
  20. Well said Mushtang! The previous entry can be related to the old interview adage "Have you stopped beating your wife - YES or NO!" Frequently there is no absolute or binary situation.
  21. I too am enjoying this discussion about how we can help each other. "I can't help you if I don't understand what the problem is." Have wenw moved on to problem analysis? I have forgotten what this thread is about .
  22. A strawman is also an outline concept frequently used in business. A "straw-man proposal", also known as an Aunt Sally, is a brainstormed simple business proposal intended to generate discussion. We have suceeded in generating discussion here. Peter
  23. Just watch eastenders etc - would you like your kids to speak like that!! It should be all about respect for others
  24. this makes the UK forum look tame. But there we have strict moderators!!
