  1. When ever I see a closed forum thread (with the lock symbol) I think "hmmm, wonder what that one was about?" and I click on it and read it just out of curiosity. I was wondering if anybody else does this. BTW, I won't be supprised if this topic is closed soon. The Mountain Bike Guy from Joplin MO ------------------------------------ Long Live Long Rides

  5. We shouldn't roll over & play dead yet. the policy isn't set in stone & when it is we should still keep trying to get the best policy made that we can. We can't let park officials think that we are all a bunch of pushovers. We've got to let them know, not just in Arkansas, that we care for the areas as much as or more that they do. Everyone got their letters sent yet? We've got one week from Thursday to get them there! I'll look into making this an event cache, I'd have to get coords somehow though, anybody close enough to help with that? Also, whoever does make it to the meeting, could you report back here how it goes? The Mountain Bike Guy from Joplin MO ------------------------------------ Long Live Long Rides

  7. quote:Originally posted by elifish:I know this is way late in coming, but I just went paintballing for the first time and I definately think it could be incorparated into goecaching, though in abit different of a manner... An unbiased referee type could hide one or more geocaches and two teams could them try to find the stash and return it to their home base. The other team trys to stop them from doing this. It is like capture the flag, but the flag is only to be found by GPS. I bought my gun last week and went painballing for the first time on sunday. My brother had a suggestion very similar to what elfish posted. You would need at least two people playing, each with a flag they would hide, and then radio the other player/s the coords for it. Once all players have the coords put into their GPS, then the game would start. You would try to get your enemy flag (or as many flags as possibale, if your playing with more than one team) and make it back to your base without getting shot. If you are shot, then you would have to drop the flag and radio the new coords, and head back to your base to start over. I really like the idea of limiting ammo and having more hidden in caches around the woods and finding them with a GPS. Sounds like a great game i'll have to try next time we go "GeoPaintballing" The Mountain Bike Guy from Joplin MO ------------------------------------ Long Live Long Rides
  8. When I saw that the first thing I thought was "Hey, thats a great idea for a cache!" Next cache I think I'll work on is a multi cache, with a Star Trek: Nemisis theme where you have to hunt for B-4s body parts to complete the cache. Not sure how I will make the Kolorans jump out chase the cachers while shooting at them though.... The Mountain Bike Guy from Joplin MO ------------------------------------ Long Live Long Rides
  9. quote: E. All permits will be in effect for a period of four (4) months. The exact starting and ending dates will be recorded on the permit. Note: If, during the four (4) month effective period of a permit, a permit holder wants to change the location of the cache, a new permit must be issued and the effective permit cancelled. It looks llike there is a loophole in the rules that will allow you to move the cache to a nearby location (maybe even just a few feet) and get a new permit that will last for another four months. BTW solohiker, is there an email address for the parks director or somebody that we can email to as BrianSnat suggested? I know someone who, for a joke, took a bike that was locked to a roof rack by a locking fork mount. They simply left the fork mounted to the car, and took the rest of the bike! If you are talking via communicatior to Captain Picard, remember this, for it is the single most important thing you can learn... Never give him a straight answer, make sure he has to come on down to the planet and see for himself.

  21. Hard to belive it has been a whole year. MTBguy
  22. I think that both are equally important. I love caches that have a great hunt, and takes you to a cool place. 23. Anybody have one of these that they don't want anymore?
  24. The other day while I was creating a cache, I was riding down the road (on my bike) and saw a guy (clothed) get out of a truck and start walking down the trail I was headed for. When I got to the trail, I turned down it and saw the guy about 100 ft away naked. I stoped, i guess he heard my brakes, and he turned around and held his pants around his waist. I decided to turn around and take a different trail, but when I got to his truck, I couldn't resist leaving a note on his truck: "Like hiking naked?"
