  1. 3. Don't leave ANY valuables.

    4. Don't lock the doors. In fact, roll the windows down if it's not raining. That way you won't have to buy a new window or clean up broken glass. (It goes everywhere!)

Thieves, being who they are, won't let a locked door stop them if they think no one's around. They just break the window. A geocaching buddy found that out recently.

    There's no 'best' answer.

    I can't condone violence.

    Thieves should be shot.

Many years ago I had a co-worker who had to do this very thing. The car was broken into many times and then she finally started leaving it unlocked so the miscreants could check everything out. No more problems but a bit creepy knowing that others had likely been in the car overnight.

She should have set these guys up so the police could catch them in the act.

  2. Is it ok to start a new geocoin in an existing cache, or should I find my own spot to hide? I also noticed that people are quick to move them, I have missed a few here locally because I wasn't fast enough to get to the stash, so my goal is to pump some out so local cachers have a chance to nab them.

  3.

What do you usually take to leave in a cache an/or what do you usually find in one?

I think carbiners make good swag - everyone loves em. thinking about personalizing mine for the future.

  4. Thanks for all the posts - I can see everyones point - should have been pretty obvious to me, still learning though. I love the sport, and have the upmost respect for it and all who participate in it. Thank you again.

  5. As the other poster mentioned ... it may be illegal (being in Cemetary after dark is against the law in most places) or it may run counter to posted hours (such as a park). It also could be a stipulation for placement of the cache (the land owner may have stipulated when it may be found -- for example, if someone places a cache in a residential neighborhood, searching for it at night could easily have you confused as being a burglar or other suspicious individual). We are playing a game and in an effort to keep those who participate safe as well as insure the community at-large that what we do is a wholesome and fun activity, no cache can encourage people to break the law.

There are caches that are available any time (owners are encouraged to place the 24/7 icon on them) and there are also caches which are specifically designed to be done after dark.

Thank you - makes perfect sense.

  6. Ok, so I am a noob - only 1 cache to my name lol, and I have many questions but I chose just one for now. Why do some frown on night caching when the cache seems to be in open public locations? I don't want to upset anyone and make sure I play fair.
