  1. thee are 174 caches in a 10 mile radius of me. However there is a 3 mile wid stretch of the Hudson River about 1/2 mile from my home, and I live almost equidistant between 2 bridges. Of those I've found all but 2. One is an earthcache that requires a boat and I just haven't gotten around to the other. Be caareful about boasting about "clearing your radius". A new England cacher frequenly boasted of clearing his 5 mile radius, then his 10 and so on. When he got close to clearing his 20 mile radius a group of local cachers went out one weekend and planted about a half dozen caches spaced far enough apart that he would have to drive hundreds of miles to get them all.
  2. Congratulations John, great job. As I'm sure you know, a lot of people use the LT as a shake-down hike for the Appalachian trail. SpringerMountain in March?
  3. Congratulations. I'm glad I was able to share some of them with you.
  4. Congratulations to Westchester's Master Cacher.
  5. Thanks to all, but as I've said before the congratulations should go to all those who hid these caches. You've all brought me to some intersting places that I would probably never have visited.
  6. I stopped by the office today and spoke with Mike. I filled out the application and left him a copy of the cache page and a topo map showing the location of my cache. It was all relativly painless. It looks like Rockland Rocks will have permit number 001. Their main concern was sensitive ecological areas and caches that may be in dangerous locations. It may seem like another hassle but remember its gc.com policy to request permission before placing a cache. This applies to public parks as well as parking lot micros. If we want to keep this activity viable, we need to make sure we have the required permission before placing a cache.
  7. Thanks everyone, but special thanks to all of you who are hiding these great caches. You're the ones who should be congratulated.
  8. I had planned to temporarily disable Find Briansnat's Ammo Can #3 before the storm but didn't have the time. I was sure it was gone. I checked on it today and its still there. However the river bank is very slick so take care retrieving it. I ended up in two feet of water ofter sliding in the mud. The cache contents are still dry even though I'm not.
  9. I'd be interested in two of the Anniversary editions.
  10. Three weekends in a row with three great caching hikes. I started with poohstickz East Mountain series in Hubbard Perkins. Last weekend I did the new caches along the Sterling Ridge and today I found jonboy's new ones in Black Rock Forest. I usually spend more time driving than I do caching. It was refreshing to park the car and hike all morning picking up caches along the way. I hope this is the beginning of a trend. Thanks to all who placed these caches out there.
  11. Congratulations! Its always a pleasure caching with you and even more fun finding caches you've hidden.
  12. Thanks John and the real Quoddy. I hope your holidays are happy and peaceful as well.
