  1. Technu (sp?) is the best way to go. If you have contact with the ivy you can wash with this soap up to eight hours later, depending on your sensitivity. It works almost 100% if you wash within two hours. My experiences.

Also, if you anticipate contact with the ivy, (if)you can find green soap, you can lather yourself up. Like your hands and arms, and let it dry. Then after your close encounter you can wash it off PDQ. In fact, if you get the blisters from PI you may find "tincture of greensoap" at your pharmacy. When it itches scrub it in there. It dries it out. Tears for my brothers and sisters.

  2. I have a Magellan Gold and my entered waypoints are shown easily fifty feet from the actual location, if I go by the map on the screen. Waypoints I make are shown to be accurate when I go to "Google Earth" and find them on their map. Is this a common problem? Should I initialize again? Thanks in advance.

  3. Thanks to everyone. The campsite idea was just for an example. I don't like it. I was figureing on setting up a fishing pole in a very isolated location. The hint would be "crank it in". Thus the cache. I have abandoned the idea since I am in Connecticut and winters befall us. Thanks to everyone. Very good input.

  4. Not to change topic, but for example, Mr. Ellison who just joined Congress used his post swearing in photo op to be shown taking a ceremonial oath on the Koran. You know what? I think that's exactly what he should have done... Just like a Jew should use a torah, a Christian a bible, etc.... Whatever it takes for them to take the oath to protect our country seriously, I support... ;)

Yuppp! I hear ya. It's like we were separated at birth mannnnnn.

We have NO STATE RELIGION. Thank God. (If that was a pun it was most certainly intended.) :anicute:

  5. Here is how I see it. Such a cache is simple enough. I like the hunt, but the find is better. Any book of clues is just that. I can fill in the most of the cache clues without looking them up. So I don't sense an agenda. Maybe I am just peculiar.

  6. Thanks, that is good advice. Now what if it were only above freezing friendly. Can I inactivate it without breakink the rules. I think most Caches are supposed to be open for grabs year round. Thanks.

  7. I got the notion that, for a fun cache, one might send cachers to a spot mugglefree and, for instance, set up a fake campsite containing the cache with the clue hidden in "the coffee pot". The "hint" decrypted going something like "look in the coffee pot. Then the cache might be in a y shaped tree there. I know this example would be high maintainence but would something like with props this be accepted upon review?

  8. Just remember that many caches bring you to places that you would not ever find alone. Sometimes historic, or just beautifull places. To help with your frustration you might like to check out "Buxleys" site. Many virtual caches that can be done spontaneously.

  9. I have a new Magellan Gold. I have accuracy problems cacheing. I went to a lookout tower in the area that had 3 adjusted NGS markers. I picked the one on the tower and stood over it for 10 min. Then I initialized the unit with the NGS co ordinates. I stood there another 10 min an it told me I had moved the equivalent to N.004 and W.004. It could not locate the other two (adjusted) Benchmarks reasonably either. I had Primary and secondary co ord systems set to Nad83 & Lat/long, deg/min.mmm Also, how do the primary and secondary systems work? If one is set to Wgs84 and the other to Nad83 whats going on?

  10. I have a Magellan Gold. Brand new. I went to an NGS adjusted benchmark, stood over it for 10 minutes. I INITIALIZED the unit there. This is on a lookout tower. I had 9 satelites with full bars. Stood there another 10 min, and it told me I was N.004 and W.004 away. I had it set to Lat/Long and Nad83 on both primary and secondary co ordinate systems. There were two other adjusted Benchmarks within 100 feet and it couldn't get me close. I created a waypoint to a cache site near a lake, and it shows it out in the water on the firmware map. It takes me back to my created track points quite well though. And can anyone tell me how the primary and secondary co ord systems are supposed to work. If one is set Wgs84 and the other is Nad83 which is it useing? Thanks in advance. icon_confused.gif
