  1. I am sure you are correct. I would say Munkeh knows the duck quite well though. Hash Browns anyone?
  2. A public apology, nice to see. MrsB is a very kind and diplomatic person and am sure would have been more flexible given the opportunity.
  3. Nice to see such public support for people who do a difficult job.
  4. I guess lively debate as always been part of the forum.
  5. Or, if you take his post at face value: D A genuine question from someone confused as to what the problem was. That's the meaning I took from it, which is why I posted my initial thoughts. While using his situation 'as an example', he compared it to war memorials to keep it in a wider context. I did suggest to him his timing might not be the wisest too, but once the question is out there... So is the answer for those who care to see it
  6. Caught up with them near the end, a hard enough walk at the best of times but in the conditions (snow, ice and very bracing winds) an amazing achievement. Well done! Fraggle was still walking like he had just got off his bike today
  7. Reviewers, moderators etc. I am sure like all the rest of us they make mistakes. So what, not the end of the world like some would have it on here. I may not agree with their decisions sometimes. Sure as H that they don't always agree with me. Overall though I think they do a very good job and am glad it isn't me
  8. No axe to grind here either, just not sure if I agree with the decision.
  9. You can be pretty sure they will be watching it now
  10. Without seeing the full original text I find it difficult to comment, however my gut feeling is this is a step too far. There are lots of historical events that are mentioned in detail in cache listings. Sorry but gotta throw my hands up and say I really don't understand. Hope it aint put you off, probably would have been better to sort it of forum first though.
  11. Been trying that avenue for a year now and none of them seem to have any left
  12. I can see what you're getting at...but you're ignoring the fact that it was the permission request that did the painting into a corner. I don't wish to criticise well-meant efforts to make caching officially sanctioned. But, had no-one put the Woodland Trust into a tight spot by specifically asking them to support the use of fire tacks, we wouldn't have had their inevitable sledgehammer-to-crack-a-nut response and subsequent incredulous postings. I think the question was asked about firetacks not by the owner but someone else who had done or gone to do the cache and had a issue with it, they then took it upon themselves to contact the various organisations. If that was the case then surely it is better to stop the bickering and move forward by dealing with these organisations and explain the situation properly.
  13. Thanks.... your 700+ FTFs at around 30% of finds is a mind-boggling feat. Keep up the good work yourselves. Gary Honey and I have been thinking of putting together a more extensive UK caching record site including the records that are not on the current site. That's as soon as people stop setting caches... best wishes tjapukai (Alan) You could always just try asking about other records being listed?
  14. No to be honest, there is Geocaching and there are geocaching forums. They are for the most independant of each other, you don't have to use the forums and you don't have to geocache. You can choose that which you enjoy, maybe one, maybe a little of both. Geocaching maybe changing, there are more people doing it, I dare say there are a fair few people enjoying the pass time as a result of your efforts. Is it any less enjoyable to go and find a cache, for me no.
  15. email me through my profile and I will see what I can do Tony
  16. In this context, CK's comments on GAGB make interesting reading.
  17. I don't think there are any rules or guidelines at present on the subject of firetacks. However if the cache had approval and someone later had an issue with it I would have thought they should take that up with a reviewer rather than effectively destroying the cache.
  18. Just a little bump There will be an election this year so please take a look Ta Tony
  19. Aargh! no I had nearly wiped that memory
  20. Just a thought or two on the forum moderation........... In this thread we are openly discussing forum moderation and the actions of the moderators, no one has been criticised for it, no one has been edited, no one has been given a ban. We have all been allowed to express our views openly.
