  1. Look for an option when running the setup to install the database to the local drive. When I installed my v6 last month, it gave me the option of installing all the files so I didn't need the disk. The Topo product doesn't give you this option.
  2. I would think if you would use one of the neoprene cases that the case would probably add enough positive buoyancy to make it float.
  3. I also use the "use with GPS off' / Simulator when I have it on in the house loading data. It helps conserve battery power because the receiver is not trying to aquire sats that it can't see.
  4. US Navy, 1972 to 1992. MMC(SS) Retired. I was a nuclear Machinest Mate and served mostly on Fleet Balistic Missle Subs. It was a good experience. Been lots of places, under water that is. Places I've actually seen are: Charleston, SC; Newport News, VA; Idaho Falls, Idaho; Vallejo, CA; Orlando, FL (From inside the fence at the base and Disney World); Holly Loch, Scotland; Guam. Served on/at: USS Simon Bolivar SSBN 641 NPTU Idaho (Instructor) USS Daniel Boone SSBN 629 USS Benjamin Franklin SSBN 640 USS Hunley AS32 Glad I did it!
  5. My first was a Garmin 45XL which I upgraded to a III+ and I just got my 76CS today (Its GREAT!) . I have also had a Delorme earthmate ( I fried it with the wrong power cord ) and a blue logger, but I sent the blue logger back and bought a CFQue 1620(Which is great also!) .
  6. Duh! I should have thought of that. Thanks Neo Geo!
  7. A review I read on the 76cs stated that the compass was designed to operate when the unit was vertical and not horizontal. Can anyone that has one of these tell me if this is the case?
  8. You can also find some cables at thesupplynet.com
