  1. Welcome to the CVC forums! We have found this forum to be extremely helpful, friendly, and useful. (Not to mention a lot of fun!) We hope you have as much fun here as we do! Happy caching!
  2. TeamJudd, Camel680 and I have just planned our first caching event...Watch for it on Saturday, March 26th! (Pending approval!) hmmm...How can we plan as much fun as some of the other local events??..... Guess you'll have to come to find out!
  3. hmmm....Worthy of a four-star rating?? Well, we have done them before, but you're probably right. This one is probably still there, right under our nose. All five GPS's were zeroing out in the middle of the highway, and we tried all of the reflectors without success. Both sides of the hihgway were checked, but one side is completely overgrown with plant life so it makes it a little tougher to search. Not sure why they would choose to ignore. Doesn't seem so "geo-friendly" to me. Even if I didn't want to give any clues, I would at least ackowledge so. I figured that their email had probably changed or maybe they travel too. Oh well...At least the scenery is worth the drive.
  4. We had a GREAT time down in the Merced area. There were quite a few caches down South!! There were some awesome challenges and some thought put into a lot of them. (Even stole a FTF while we were down there - Beat the "locals" by about 10 minutes! (Sorry! ) Thanks for placing all the caches down there! Keep it up and we will visit a lot more often!! On another note...Has anyone heard from Soggy Boots lately? We have been to their "Wild America" cache at least a half dozen times without success and cannot get a reply from them. (All of the logs are DNF's for the last 6 months). It is a FANTASTIC location and we enjoy going even with a DNF, but a find would be that much sweeter! Edited for spelling
  5. Obviously, I was just kidding about this. Having it outside of Stansilaus County just gives us one more reason to cache outside of the area!
  6. My brothers' close friend has been in Iraq for a little while now and is an avid cacher. (Scrawlinn and Greeny's Ghost). Anyway, he just placed a cache in Iraq and is really missing the cache camaraderie from back home. Anyone that would like to place an encouraging note on his cache placement page would be encouraged as I'm sure that it would help keep his spirits high. They ahve a tough job out there and he is making it a safer caching Country for all! Thank you! His cache-placement page is as follows: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...7d-4c1e3147219c Waypoint: GCMNZV
  7. Lodi?? Is that located somewhere in California? Edited for spelling
  8. Looks like the CVC Tag has migrated well beyond the "Stanislaus County" borders that the owner wants it to remain in...I think it needs to come back where it belongs! Oh well...I guess we mihgt have to go up there and retrieve it.
  9. And he kept telling me MY gps was the wrong one! It WAS!!!
  10. I just ordered the new Garmin Vista C...It has the Geocaching feature built-in now. It is smaller than the old one and the screen (now with color) looked pretty crisp...I'm anxious to see how it does on a caching trip. There are many new features on this one such as auto-routing. Maybe it wil help me get better coordinates for my cache placements!!
  11. Apparantly the groundhog had good news for Geocachers...It will be an early Spring!! Does anyone know if there are any geocaching groups participating in an "Adopt-a-highway" type program? I thought that this may be a good way to put a positive image in front of the city councils and such. (Maybe "adopt-a-park" or something...Could get rid of trash and make parks a bit more safe). Maybe we could have the CVC do one...
  12. My little brother and his family are very active cachers in Sierra Vista...Does that count? (They are the Furnas Hooligans)
  13. My wife says...."oh how Cute".....she'll take care of them for you.
  14. Compare these numbers to cache finds numbers. Tell you anything? Yeah. Tells me why Bill didn't have time to go fix Trust Me. There's a quality improvement principle that says to be careful what you measure, because measurement will drive change. I don't think we'd like the forums if number of posts became an important measure. I agree...I always like Bill's posts...They are always entertaining!!
  15. I'm looking forward to a Southern California caching trip so I can grab one of these! Very cool!!
  16. By the way...If anyone is in need of film canisters, I have a whole bunch that I can give away. Just send me an email should you need any and we will give you some. edited for spelling
  17. Well, it's interesting to see who the chatterbox is. Broken. It's broken, I tell ya. Hi Jaimee. Yeah it's broken alright... I think the numbers for you should be MUCH higher! Compare these numbers to cache finds numbers. Tell you anything? edited for typing Oldhippy Good point! Maybe Bill's numbers should match his logs...sounds like a great challenge!
  18. We like what one of our CVC cachers did over the last weekend! Now thats the ticket...Good job Sanruft and family. Maybe its time for TeamTek to do some thing like that, then maybe you will get that mad dash to the North... After all the North side has more places like this than we do down here! Talk about your target rich environment... This could be the grounds to establish a new personal best. Thanks in advance, Tim. Thanks Bill! While not one of my caches hold a candle to your fabulous caches, I try to put (a little) thought into them! This series has gone a long way to elevate my wife's opinion of micros! Great job, we really enjoyed the thought you put into each of these! This little section of the trail was very popular today. I'm glad you enjoyed it! We appreciate all of the feedback on the caches. (Good and bad!) I have one final cache placed on the trail that is not approved yet. I received word this morning that I need to move it a little bit as it was too close to one of the caches. I plan on doing that tomorrow and resubmitting it. They have REALLY been very fast at approving the caches. Again, we are glad you enjoyed yourselves today. It seemed to be a nice day to be caching!
  19. I hope it's not something I said!!
  20. Hey! This CVC counter is broken!! All of this is very interesting...I'm glad that I am part of this area. Makes this sport a lot more fun! Thanks for the cool stats...And 1 more post for my column!
  21. I was just looking around the forums and I could not find another thread anywhere with more replies. Am I correct in my findings that this is the most active thread in all of the geocaching forums?

  23. My brother and his family are active geocachers and are members of Tombstone divided. (A geocaching group that plan adventures together). They are all located in or near Siera Vista and have several awesome caches placed. I will send him a link of this thread as I know he would welcome you to the area!
  24. With the new cache in Ripon and the 11 new ones in Modesto, it may be worth a trip to the Southern end of the Valley!!
  25. I'm not sure I understand the logic behind it. Personally, I don't see why the powers that be would have issues about having cache placements close to the mid-section of a multi cache... In fact, what is the difference between this and making a multi with each stage only being 50 yards or so between stages? (I have done plenty of caches like these). There are a few caches locally that have you crossing back-and-forth between stages, with some being very close to one another. I didn't find anything wrong with these. Oh well...I'm with Laura...If you need me to "check it out" for you Bill, just let me know! I sure you hope you decide to keep it...Unless it's another puzzle cache which I can never seem to solve.
