  1. Another photo from one of my favourite areas: Deer Park Heights near Queenstown (facing north) S45 02.316 E168 43.996 Although it really loses its impact when shrunk down like that (I suppose I should cross-post this as it was my PC wallpaper for a while too
  2. And the first two verses of the Māori version of the National Anthem: E Ihoā Atua, O ngā iwi mātou rā Āta whaka rongona; Me aroha noa Kia hua ko te pai; Kia tau tō atawhai; Manaakitia mai Aotearoa Ōna mano tāngata Kiri whero, kiri mā, Iwi Māori Pākehā, Rūpeke katoa, Nei ka tono ko ngā hë Māu e whakaahu kë, Kia ora mārire Aotearoa Translation: O Lord, God, of nations and of us too Listen to us, Cherish us Let goodness flourish, May your blessings flow. Defend Aotearoa Let all people, Red skin, white skin Maori, Pakeha, Gather before you May all our wrongs, we pray, Be forgiven So that we might say long live, Aotearoa
  3. So many comments I could make but must resist... Ok, just one comment: red dirt, scrub/dry vegetation, few other clues.....that one's Australian, not Kiwi I'm afraid!
  4. Yep! Well done Ble68! Me already happy with current arrangements.
  5. Only for North Islanders On the Mainland (South Island) they're referred to as Crib - holiday home Cheers, G.
  6. After all the votes were in, here are are the AA Travel Top 100 things to do/see in New Zealand!
  7. Few more photos of my favourite end of the country (South Island) GC12559 GCTN0G
  8. Currently, New Zealand's southernmost cache on Stewart Island.
  9. And you can see the location of a micro I have here! You know how much grief that cache caused me!! Oh, and Bungy facts: the first commercial jumping started here: and a waymark.
  10. Ohh, photos? No probs! Here's one of my favourites from Deer Park Heights above Queenstown: It's also where the Wargs attacked in LOTR, and the only reason I haven't put a cache there is that it's a commercial park with $20 (car) or $2 (walk) entrance fee dangit. And thanks Mark but I'll exclude myself from the competition coin draws this time
  11. So many facts! Which to choose? Ummmm New Zealand's current coinage. Seems appropriate.
  12. Well, this one's started it's journey and is currently sitting in this cache if anyone is interested.
  13. Well, blow me down. There may be hope after all that upgrades to the CSX range will filter to the old CS units. I'm impressed that they take the time to keep the older models supported. ...not that this change is relevant to me, but it's the thought that counts. ===================================== http://www.garmin.com/support/collection.j...ct=010-00322-30 Changes made from version 4.10 to 4.20: * Improved support for Macintosh USB. * Corrected support for certain carpool/toll roads types in Austria and Switzerland. =====================================
  14. Heh, nice to see the first non-USA cache was in New Zealand. ...and still one active in the Top 20!
  15. After a few years I'm still putting the occasional folding geocube in caches that are big enough (and cool enough) to fit them - just under 3cm on a side: Here's an older thread with some cools sig items from yesteryear
  16. The more the merrier! I just realised the links above for the gps.org.nz forums had been pointing to the old site page. This one will get you there a little quicker.
  17. I'd think along the lines of "Hide a cache using a GPSr, use the supplied coordinates and description to find the cache". The most common - and for me most fun - tool for the job is a GPSr, but other tools are available with varying levels of accuracy. No foul in my book to use Google! Depending on the location, Google Maps/Earth coordinate display can be pinpoint accurate or up to a good 100 metres or so out. It all depends on the accuracy of the geo-referencing of the supplied photos. For overall accuracy and reliability (and out-and-out fun) I'd stick with my little magic Garmin unit.
  18. ditto What they said double ditto what they said!
  19. Email sent - revisions are spot on! Thanks Mike! Cheers, G.
  20. I've had two orders from them, both exceptionally fast turnaround: I had them in my hands less than a week later. That's not too bad for an international order!
  21. There's the exercise, exploring new places, time with the kids outdoors, but really I was initially hooked by the tech. I mean, this little unit in my hand is getting multiple signals from military satellites orbiting above me, then telling me pretty much exactly where on Earth I am, and exactly where I should go find 'stuff'. For a gadget geek, that is hard to beat!
  22. Not mine, but I do know the cachers involved, and it doesn't really surprise me And the cache log of the event.
