  1. OH NO! The person who returned it used it first?? Did you go back to Best Buy? I hope ours isn't a problem!!! We haven't tried to use it!
  2. Periodically Best Buy sends coupons to their customers who either have their Reward Zone card, or their credit card. This past weekend we got a set of the coupons to use over the holiday weekend (this tends to be when coupons are issued) and there were 3 of them good for 10% off various categories of items. FYI--the gps and software for gps units is included in the mobile electronics category. Another FYI--the coupons specifically state that they are not valid on clearance merchandise, but ours worked just fine on the clearance software. Even without the coupons--$104 is still a good deal!
  3. WOW!! A GREAT DEAL--AND AN OPEN BOX!?!?!?!??! That's even better than ours!!!! Great! So glad someone else took advantage of this deal! We checked another Best Buy in Pittsburgh, and they didn't have any of them, so I was hoping that it wasn't just at one store! 89 is incredible! With our coupon it only would have been 80! YIKES!
  4. We're assuming that the 60c and 60cs are the same as far as batteries. Our manual for the 60c said that battery life is much longer with regular alkaline batteries as compared with rechargeable. I don't know if that matters to you, but its something to consider.
  5. Check out your local Best Buy store. We came across the Legend C and Vista C navigation kit on clearance for $104.00. We have the 60c, but we purchased this kit anyhow. This kid included CitySelect, the portable friction mount, mounting bracket, 12/24volt card adapter, and the dashmount. We were even able to rig up a way to use the friction mount and mounting bracket with our 60c. We had a 10% off coupon for Best Buy, we so got the package for $94. before tax. This is the same kit that is selling on ebay for $160! Our Best Buy only had one kit, but it's worth checking out! Ebay auction
  6. We just bought the Garmin 60c, as an upgrade from our yellow Etrex. This unit is absolutely incredible! It was so easy to learn how to use, and so far, it has been very accurate. It is quite easy to download the waypoints from the pocket query, and the geocaching mode is really nice. Keep in mind that this unit does not have the removeable memory card, and the maps that are included only show the major interstates. In order for addition maps, you will need to purchase CitySelect. On ebay, you can find this used for $85. We were lucky enough to find it new from Best Buy for 94 including a navigation kit. Aside from these two issues, which we were prepared for when we made our purchase, we highly recommend the 60c. We purchased from buy.com for about $300.
  7. We also have an Etrex Yellow we'd be willing to part with. It is used, but well taken care of and works perfectly. Contact @ agentblu15@aol.com is you're interested.
  8. Hmmmmm....so that means we have to change them individually on either GSAK or the GPS????? That sounds like a LOT of work! Nevermind, I see the option for that crazy ???html??? code. Next question...we have 500 points loaded in from easygps, and now the same 500 from gsak, how do we get rid of one whole set???????
  9. Hmmmmm....so that means we have to change them individually on either GSAK or the GPS????? That sounds like a LOT of work!
  10. Ok, we ran our pocketquery, opened stuff in easygps, and sent it to the gps. However, everything is listed on the GPS as the waypoint name instead of the cache name. How do we change this? I tried looking on the easygps site, but I couldn't find anything. Thanks!
  11. We are premium members, so I loaded stuff into easygps. It arrived, so now its time to play!
  12. Ok, I wasn't sure! Thanks again! I have easygps downloaded and ready to go!
  13. Thanks for the infol. We have a copy of Metroguide 5.0, so I think we'll use that to start with, and then buy CitySelect. Will we be able to remove Metroguide once its loaded into the GPS? (As you can see--we're clueless when it comes to this whole hooking the gps up to the computer thing!)
  14. What is Trigo? (I did a Google search, but didn't come up with anything.) Tri-Go Tri-Go is the Pittsburgh area caching (dis) organization.
  15. Thanks for the advice. We will have the 60c, not the 60cs, if that matters. I have GSAK, but I don't have a clue to use it. We use cachemate currently, and I've played around with GSAK on the laptop, but never figured out what to do with it from there. It looks like we'll be out caching before the new unit arrives, so I'll have more time to figure it out...
  16. Our new gps should be here in a few hours. We had planned on going caching today with our etrex, but we'd love to take the new one out with us! Can anyone tell me what I can do ahead of time in order to quickly load waypoints? With our etrex we've never had the data cable, so we've entered coordinates by hand for the past 229 caches! We'd appreciate any help that we can get before we get the owner's manual!
  17. That last post should say, WILL Garmin MetroGuide work with this unit? From reading, we think that maybe it will work for maps, but without the auto routing. This sort of makes those maps useless, correct? The good news, our GPS is on its way! Its out for delivery, and we'll have it within a few hours!!!
  18. We ordered the 60c. We ended up getting it for $270 before shipping! It should be here tomorrow or wednesday.
  19. We have an Etrex now, and its quite easy. I also use cachemate on a regular basis with my palm, and I have GSAK, but I've never really figured out how to use it. This seems to be a common problem, and I've never taken the time to figure it out. With Garmin MetroGuide work with this unit???
  20. Well, we ordered from buy.com. There is a $15.00 coupon off of their $350 price for new users. Also, if you sign up for a buy.com credit card, you get an additional $30.00 off. Add that to the $50 rebate. So, we'll have it for $255 plus shipping!!!! Now, for the mapping software, but we'll wait for a few weeks. Now, for the additional questions. How hard is this unit to figure out initially? Will we be able to figure out how to use it in 48 hours? We're hoping to have it in hand on Wednesday, and we'll be using it on a trip starting on Friday--is this doable? We especially want to be able to download caches in the Raleigh area into it. We've never had that capability!
  21. I read another post in the GPS garage sale about the buyeretail.com, so we'll stay away from there. I actually found an online coupon for buy.com, and it will end up 285 from there. We've bought stuff from them before, and we've been happy. I guess thats probably where it will come from, unless anyone has seen anything cheaper. As far as the maps, I think we'll stay away from ebay, most of that software seems to have been used once. So I guess thats another $120!
  22. In looking at different review sites on the internet, and posts here and on Trigo, I think we've decided upon the 60c. Its more than we were planning on spending, but it seems to be a better unit than the Legend C. We decided to stick with Garmin since thats what we're familiar with. I didn't realize that we were going to have to buy the mapping software seperately, but I think we'll probably wait a little bit for that, unless we can find a package deal. Our question is this, if you have the 60c, where did you buy it? It seems like different sites on the net have it for the cheapest, but I am a little concerned about buying from a random website. One, www.buyetretail.com has the GPS for 283 after the rebate. The cheapest for City Select mapping software seems to be about 85 on ebay. Is this about right? How much did you pay? Thanks!
  23. So the software that is included is fairly uses for the autorouting and finding side streets?
  24. Doesn't the 60c come with an external antenna?? The information about the antenna being horizontal/vertical is interesting! Thanks. What about the mapping capability with the two units? I see that they both come with basic software built in, but what does that basic software actually mean??? We're looking for any info/opinions that people have. We'd like to make our decision and order soon!
  25. We've finally decided to upgrade from our yellow eTrex after a year and a half. We've narrowed down our search to the Legend C, or the more expensive Map60C. We've read some posts here, and the info at Garmin, but whats the difference in layman's terms...what makes the Map60c $50 better??? Thanks!
