  1. Have you gone to check on it? Is it there? If not, then I assume it's been stolen. Unfortunately, it happens. I don't think there is anything you can do about it. In the future, make sure you hides are away from muggles and well hidden so they aren't accidentally discovered and then taken.
  2. You posted on Saturday that you knew the cache was gone. You really need to disable a cache as soon as you know it is missing. It's common courtesy so that others do not go looking for it. There is no indication on the cache page that there is a problem with your cache, so fellow cachers have no idea that they should not go hunting. Whether you are going to replace it or archive it, you need to temporarily disable it ASAP.
  3. Go to this page, click Search by Keyword. THANK YOU!
  4. WAHOO!! As ones who are taking weekend caching trips, this is GREATLY appreciated! Thank you! My only question--when we make our lists public, and use a good term so that it can be searched for--how do others see it? And/or how do we see others' routes? I know it says you can search--but where? How??
  5. Your GPS will work, but you'll need to buy additional maps I believe. I know our Garmin 60C comes with a North America basemap, and we bought the North America City Select. You'll need the equivalent for Japan.
  6. You can't. Virtual caches are no longer being approved. The existing ones were grandfathered in. The guidelines for submitting a cache (which you need to read before placing any caches) list this information: http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#virts
  7. We got a standard size backpack at Walmart that had room for the hydration bag. The backpack was $14.99 and the 2 Liter hydration bladder was 9.99. The backpack has a standard big pocket, two front pockets, a side pocket, and a side pouch for a water bottle. We take the back pack in the car to all of the caches that we do--anything htat's 1/4 mile or more we take the bag with us to the cache--sometimes we don't take the bladder, but it was the best $25.00 we've spent on caching!
  8. That's the same problem we had--do you also use AOL???
  9. Does anyone else that uses AOL have the problem of not being able to order unless you open up a different web browser, or is that just us????
  10. I dont see any either just on the waiting list. The Project A.P.E. Commemorative Geocoin -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Waiting List -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The following cachers are on the indicated waiting list(s) in first-come-first-served order. If a coin becomes available, the cacher at the top of the appropriate list will get first shot at it. Gold List Nickel List Pos Handle Qty Pos Handle Qty 1 1 That's what my waiting list page looks like.
  11. REALLY??? When I look at the waiting list there aren't any names? There also aren't any on the Received Orders page when I look either.
  12. Well, we had a different problem. We use AOL, and the order page is STILL not showing up on AOL. Fortunately, a friend gave us the link, and it opened in IE. However, I sat there refreshing the AOL page for 20 minutes before I got to place my order. Not sure why it doesn't work in AOL, but I sure hope we get our finder's coin...
  13. Perhaps you should be a little more detailed then. Your original post asked about the hole idea, and if it was ok or not. You got the definate answer--NO. Velcro would also be seen as defacing the tree, I believe.
  14. And it was a very good hide!!!
  15. The short answer is yes. See our End of the Rainbow cache and Pot of Gold series--it's exactly what you're describing. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...d8-743d0cbd40e5 The micros would be listed as traditional caches, not multis though, since they are single stages. You also need to make sure that the 6 micros are far enough away from each other to warrant being individual caches. If they are too close, you'll be asked to make them into one long multi cache.
  16. They did: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...561entry90561
  17. Personally, I think drilling into a tree is unacceptable. We're not allowed to dig holes to bury caches in the ground, and this seems like the same idea to me. We also wouldn't permenantly attach anything to a tree either. Fishing line words wonders in the woods! Why not find a dead branch or stump and use the same idea? Hollow out the bottom of the stump and hide a container in there. Or, cut a stump in half, hollow out a section, and then reattach the two portions with a nail or a screw in order to make it swivel. We've found several caches that use the remains of a dead tree in order to hide a cache. In fact, there are detailed instructions on how to do this if you Google.
  18. Cache Log Book Sunrise Ok...I tried to d/l the Cache Log Book program before, and thought that I was just missing something. I went to the link provided, but get the "page cannot be found" error when I try to click on the link to d/l it. Is it just me?????
  19. I want the traditional logo back on the white tshirt! Everyone else in my family that caches has that shirt--bought several years ago. I wasn't sure this was a hobby we'd keep, so I didn't buy it. I hate the shirts that are in the store now, and won't buy them. Bring back the traditional geocaching logo items!
  20. Lindsy's answer: ANIMALS Most people around here would tell you that my answer is snakes, but the broader answer is just animals in general. I've never been the outdoorsy type, and I'm still amazed what I do/where I go to cache. However, I do not like the animals: snakes, bugs, deer, bears, dogs, mice, etc. You name it, I'm afraid of it!
  21. Have you tried CacheMate? When we started paperless caching I used MobiPocket because it was free and simple to use. The problem was, all 500 caches that I had in the Palm were all just in one big long list. It was very hard for me to navigate through the caches without scrolling. It took more time than it would have to print the pages and sort through them. Once we switched to Cachemate we've been out with my cousin who uses MobiPocket. I can get the info in half of the time that it takes him. I can't believe how easy Cachemate is to use and it was only $8!
  22. Wow...we had a great time both of the last two years. Two years ago we were third last year we won! We didn't know about it until the contest had already started two years ago. Last year we were involved from the start and loved it! I just googled for info yesterday but couldn't find anything.
  23. See this thread: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=130149
  24. While we're on the subject of clothing, whatever happened to the simple shirts and hats that had the colored logo? I see some products here: http://www.cafepress.com/signal/1187302 , but there used to be hats and tshirts too. I like that logo, but never bought the shir tand hat, and now that I want to, I don't think they're being sold anymore? Or am I just missing them?
  25. Sort of unrelated, but we're planning a trip to Maryland for Memorial Day weekend, and tried to join the group to get some info. I signed us up several days ago but we haven't heard anything back??
