  1. The unit comes with an owners manual and a quick start guide, but not a "how to" video. Bennett does offer a training video for that model.
  2. When geocaching I prefer a handheld model. I have a Blue Legend which is an older model. It works for me but maybe not for others. There are a lot of options as far as handheld units go, so read through the forums - they have a lot of useful information. Good luck in your search. Happy New Year!
  3. I definately recommend a handheld over a car unit. My Legend has been great for us (we are newbies too).
  4. On my Legend when I have the waypoint on the screen that I want to delete, I put the cursor on the box to the Left of the "X" in the top right hand of the screen. When you highlight it, it brings up another option menu and one of them is delete waypoint.
  5. I don't have an Oregon, but I was wondering - when you set up the time from the main menu did you go through "setup" or "trip computer"? I just checked my Legend and it actually gives the time in HH/MM/SS at the bottom of the "main menu".
  6. I still like my Blue Legend. No, it's not a brand new model but for the price it works for us.
  7. SW Ohio (Hamilton County)
  8. It depends on how much you want to spend?
  9. Hi GSAnnibel, I am a newbie too in Ohio. I have a Blue Legend which was reasonably priced. It's easy to use and generally gets us to within 20-25 feet. Check our website out.
  10. Aren't you glad I asked my question. Look how much "fun" you have had with this thread!
  11. Yes, the initial question was "do you always record your finds". "For the fun of it" was an attention getter.
  12. I feel the same way, it's a great way to get my kids off the couch and outside. I let my kids navigate with our unit (Legend) and guide us through the woods using the compass. It's a great way for them to gain a good sense of direction and to have fun. Enjoy!
  13. Find an experienced cacher in your area and go together.
  14. I was curious to find out is anybody else out there just for the fun of it? We don't always record our finds, we just like to get out of the house and enjoy the outdoors. Our blue Legend has proved to be a really good entry level unit, easy to use and generally gets us within 10-20 feet.
  15. We are newbies too. For us it's not so much that we actually found the cache (we've only found one on our own - found a total of 3) but it's the fact that we are out of the house and together as a family. It's not always possible to set time aside for caching with busy schedules, but we do enjoy it when we are out there. We definately learned at a recent geocaching event to look for the unusual, which was true while we were caching at that event. Enjoy the great outdoors.
