    Pocket Query Preview and Download Different

    Here's what you may have done:

     

    You created and ran the PQ. The Ready for Download tab showed it had 11 caches.

    Then you modified the PQ. The Preview now shows 14 caches.

     

    The Ready for Download tab will continue to show 11 caches until you run your modified PQ again. (which you eventually did)

     

    The Preview totals and Ready for Download totals can be two different amounts if the PQ is modified after running it.

     

    Thanks but I modified and re-ran several times under different names all with the same 14/11 results.

    Thanks but it doesn't have anything to do with the viewer unfortunately. As you can see when I generate the query I get the following message:

     

    "Thanks! Your pocket query has been modified and currently results in 14 caches. You can preview the search on the nearest cache page." And when I preview the search it shows all fourteen. However on the "Pocket Queries Ready for Download" tab, it shows only 11 results, and when I open the .gpx file with a text editor there are, in fact, only 11 <wpt tags.

     

    Late breaking news!! I'm not sure what has just changed (I must have done something different) but I've just tried the query again and lo and behold, all 14 entries downloaded. Go figure.

    Pocket Query Preview and Download Different

    I have created a simple pocket query around GC4DQTG event cache. My preview shows 14 caches, but the downloaded zip files shows only 11 of them. One of the missing ones is the event cache itself so I guess I understand that one but the other two are an "unknown" cache and a traditional. My radius is 100 miles which is much larger than any of the caches in question.

     

    Could anyone shed any light on why the caches might not be downloaded?

    IPHONE App 4.5.5

    I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to put this question, but has anyone had trouble with the 4.5.5 version of the Iphone app? I have a 3G iphone and have run the Geocaching app for some time now. I've upgraded to 4.5.5 and all of a sudden it accesses the network constantly, is veerrryyy slow and consumes my battery in around an hour.

    Has anyone else seen this?

    If there's a better place for this question, let me know and I'll ask it there.

    Adding a listing to a bookmark

    I can't quite figure out how to add an entry to a listing. I'd like to create a bookmark for about 50 caches I plan to find, but editting the bookmark listing seems to take me in a circle. "Edit Bookmark List" takes me the bookmark list, but there doesn't seem to be a way to add anything to the list.

     

    Can anyone help?

    Google Maps Api Key Registered To A Different Web Site

    Thanks. It's possible. I'm finding now that it's inconsistent. Not all caches give the message. A particular cache might give me the message at one point, but if I look at it later (after clearing cache, rebooting, etc, to see if I can duplicate) the message doesn't appear.

     

    I'm using Firefox. I suppose it could be a browser problem.

     

    Oh well, I should be out in the woods anyway.

    Definition Of "available In Winter"

    I'd like to find out what the "Available in Winter" icon means to people. I have a cache (GCQGZV) which is on the ground protected by a rock. It would definitely require digging in the snow to find it. On the other hand it is easy to walk to, snow or not, and would pose no particular problem to get to.

     

    Is that "available in winter"? Or does aiw mean that it's hanging in a tree or above the snow somehow?

    Finding A Cache Reviewer

    Can someone tell me how to find my local cache reviewer? I've written a cache, but after reading the guidelines am not sure it fits. Before I submit it I'd like to pass it by the reviewer first. Is there a list somewhere?

    Statistics

    I'm curious to know how the statistics on each log are refreshed.

     

    I've found 21 caches. My log entry on my latest find shows that I've found 21, and the previous find shows 20. So far so good. However, my two finds prior to that (GCB137 and GC9E86) both show that I've found 19. So, two questions:

    1) Are the statistics shown on a particular log the statistics at the time of the find, or the user's current statistics?

    2) Why would "found it" log entries on two different caches show the same number of cache finds?

    A Cold Gps

    I tried this on a -12C day and it seemed to work pretty well. Go to any ski shop and purchase some disposable hand warmers. The ones I bought were by Grabber and cost about $2.00 for two of them. They're very small and fit easily in the palm of my glove, keeping the battery compartment warm.

    I'm using NiMH rechargeables with an Etrex Vista and didn't see any power loss in the hour or so I was out.

    Rechargeable Battery Question

    I'd like to add a question here if I may. I'll start a new topic if people think that's more appropriate.

     

    Does anyone have experience with re-chargeable lithium batteries in cold weather? I understand that standard lithium batteries will give better service than alkaline batteries generally, and in the cold, but does this also pertain to rechargeable lithium batteries?

    Etrex Vista In The Cold

    I purchased my Vista in October and it has worked well for me. Recently with the cold weather, however, I've noticed some peculiar behaviour.

     

    1) While out the other day, I had walked about .25 km. All of a sudden the trip computer changed my distance to over 1 km. Later, looking at the track log, it showed a bit of a jog that I didn't take.

     

    2) While geocaching yesterday as I got close to the cache (10-15 metres), the Vista started to behave very erratically, showing that my target was sometimes straight ahead, sometimes behind me 80 metres away. It wobbled all over the place. Later, as I got back to the car, my GPSr showed me to be 70 metres away from the waypoint I had set while standing beside the car earlier.

     

    The air temperature was around -8C (20F or so) and the GPSr was cold, although I think within Garmin's range. The (alkaline) batteries were fresh and showed high voltage on the battery meter. Satellite's had been acquired and accuracy was within 6-9 metres according to the unit.

     

    Do any of you with more "cold" experience than me think this is normal or does it sound like a unit problem?
