  1. That's a bummer... I have noticed that on my 60CSx that the buttons seem a bit more harder to push compared to the older 60CS series. Not sure what they would have changed... so far they are still all working.
  2. According to Garmin, the largest transflash card the x units will currently take is 512MB. I would think as larger transflash cards become more widespread they will make a firmware update to support the larger cards.
  3. When you copy over new mapsets, the old ones will be erased. You could also do a master reset, but this will erase everything... maps, waypoints, tracks, customization etc... basically restores factory defaults. I wouldn't recommend the reset
  4. I don't remember seeing a 'discount' in the name from the original postings.
  5. oh no! could it be doctored photos??? most likely, the unit had a sufficient lock to report a position and then lost lock while he took the picture...
  6. It's been confirmed... WAAS bar will not show lock... see photo here http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...ic=120525&st=50
  7. Thanks, I'm glad someone could verify that the WASS bird will not show a lock. I thought it was just me
  8. Thanks for clarifying Peter... Has anyone downloaded the beta yet? I tried and it said file not found on server. For some reason, the download points to a non-garmin domain.. Apache/1.3.29 Server at garmin2.arsalon.net Port 80
  9. I wonder what that means... I installed a 512MB card in my 60CSx and installed 262MB of maps...
  10. Was this 20 secs for a sat to lock on, or for the gps to give a position...? When I started mine up, it took 40 secs to report a position. Note: this is not the same as locking on to a satellite...
  11. Good question, I believe it is 2.x because usb 1.x did not have the capability to power anything plugged into them. I may be mistaken though
  12. I am a previous owner of both the LegendC and VistaC. Both of these units destroy the Legend in accuracy, satellite tracking, sensitivity etc... I'm sure other owners here will vouch for me.
  13. Funny how us early adopters always get burned Either way I am loving my 60CSx with it's new 512MB transflash card!
  14. Now that the LegendCx is out you may want to consider this as well. Personally speaking I love the color screen and it's absolutely gourgeous and easy to read in direct sunlight. Also, with the new x version, you will have unlimited mapping memory with the transflash cards. The Legend as you know is black and white and has only 8MB for maps versus the 24 for the LegendC. One more thing, the sensitivity of the LegendC is 100 times better than the Legend and the acquisition of satellites is really quick.
  15. No they are not special for Garmin. They are flash cards like you would see for a camera. The KEY difference is that these cards are about the size of your pinky nail... really small. They do come with a regular size adapter so that it can be used in a card reader or other devices...
  16. You need to let it sit outside with a clear view of the sky so that it can acquire the satellites and build it's almanac.
  17. The main difference between CS and CN is that CN has larger map segmanets, the average size being around 14MB. CS has smaller segments that will fit on the older units. CS is also being phased out for CN, also Garmin stated the next version of CN will have smaller map segments to support the older units. As for the card, I walked into the Best Buy cellular phone section and they had a bunch right on the rack
  18. Why don't you try a hobby by the name of Geocaching
  19. I heard about preloaded SD cards for bluechart, but nothing about CN... anyone?
  20. Just an FYI... I purchased a 512MB Sandisk Transflash card for my 60CSx and it worked like a champ!! I loaded both Topo and CityNavigator 7 for all of New England, down through New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. All in all 223 maps used 262MB. Still a lot more room to go!
  21. Super! Now enable WAAS and see if you can confirm that the WAAS bird (if you can get it) will not lock, but give differential data.
