  1. Team Bam Bam is not a RN, but he plays one on the weekends...
  2. Are we talking about Amish Extremists here?
  3. Yeah, I guess he actually checked the map to find out where to put in for this one. Love you Miss daisy!
  4. Hey, I know I would have left my wife there. I know that if she was seriously injured, I would have to spend the month or two putzing around the house and waiting on her hand and foot. So enjoy that last few moments of freedom, and grab that cache man! PS- You know he's going to get nagged for stopping short too. <- Whatever that thing is. Love the frog smilie things.
  5. Yes, I find the term PERMANENTLY ARCHIVED sort of implies permanently archived. It would be nice if there was some sort of middle ground status or maybe a revision of the term to allow a glimmer of hope at getting the issues resolved and the cache approved. This is not an issue with any of the approvers, it is a term in the system. Congratulations on your cache approvals. I hope you get them all. I still stand by my previous statement.
  6. I always suspected your reading list was a little different from the rest of us.
  7. Actually, the original post had an interesting issue. The poster stated that the caches were "permanently archived". This is certainly an intimidating status. If they area really only temporarily archived pending need for further claification, that could be a truly misleading message to receive. In AvroAir's defense, Team Bam Bam is a big fat stupid head.
  8. No, I am just generalizing for effect. But that is a mind blowing article isn't it?
  9. This from the same administration that almost brought you the Artic National Wildlife Refuge Oil Drilling Conservation Project. They could have saved dozens of caribou by removing the potentially harmful oil out of the park.
  10. Triple Tree is in an area with VERY poor GPS signals. I was dead on GZ for about 10 minutes when I suddenly got a better sat lock. Suddenly I was 100 feet off. That plus the clue I picked it up in a total of 15 minutes. Now for a real challenge, try his Fluffy Pink Bunnies nearby.
  11. Yeah yeah congratulations... I would have written more, but my arms are sore from driving miss daisy.
  12. Assuming I know your correct region, I think you will be taking 17 north from the Garden State Parkway, if that is the case, then no. Campmor is about 7-10 miles short of the reservation. If, as Brian suggests, you go to 287, and then head north, it could be on the way. The problem is getting to 287 in a convenient manor. I would suggest that you take the Parkway north to the Route 4 WEST exit in Paramus. Route 4 will become Route 208 North (sort of, you will see) Follow Route 208 north until you hit Oakland, then follow Route 202 north about 5 miles. The reservation is then on your left. If you hit Ramapo College, you went about 1/5 mile too far. You can also follow Route 202 north about 2 miles to hop on Route 17 south to get out of the area. This would put you on the opposite side of the highway from Campmor, but it would also bring you close to one more drive up quick cache.
  13. At least he posted a find! Yes, she certainly is a trooper. Great story.
  14. OHHH... I got it. Duh, I'm an idiot. But, I can vouch for the fact that he does not have one.
  15. I thought you were heading to Ramapo on the 30th.
  16. Huh? You lost me on that one.
  17. I might be up for a Palisades run. I have never participated in a group hunt before, but I would like to get back over to the Palisades again. I still need to hit most of the ones along the cliffs. I had a "Wife Malfuntion" over the summer and was not permitted proper time to complete most of them. Are we kicking around dates yet? I didn't see anything that looks definite.
  18. On a similar note, this was also announced yesterday. Contact: Erin Phalon October 26, 2004 (609) 984-1795 DEP ANNOUNCES 598-ACRE ADDITION TO MASKELLS MILL POND WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA Former Clay Mine Contains Bird Habitat, Water Resources, Wetlands (04/125) TRENTON--Emphasizing the importance of preserving water resources and habitat, Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Commissioner Bradley M. Campbell today announced the acquisition of the S.V. Farming Property, a 597.6-acre former clay mine in Quinton Township, Salem County. DEP Division of Fish and Wildlife will administer the property as part of the Maskells Mill Pond Wildlife Management Area. "The S.V. Farming Property is a tremendous addition to this wildlife management area," said Governor James E. McGreevey. "Preserving this property expands our ability to improve and protect water quality and fish and wildlife habitat in the South Jersey region and reinforces our commitment to environmental protection throughout the state. Whether we're preserving land, improving air quality or protecting our waterways from pollution, we are keeping our promise to make life better for New Jersey's families and children." The conservation of S.V. Farming will protect the headwaters of Stow Creek, which discharges into the Delaware Bay. The S.V. Farming tract is mainly comprised of forested wetlands and uplands that are ideal for groundwater recharge. The Maskells Mill Pond Wildlife Management Area supports a diverse bird population including the bald eagle, prairie warbler, scarlet tanager, wood thrush and bobwhite quail. "This acquisition underscores the importance of protecting New Jersey's natural resources and restoring those that have been damaged or destroyed," said Commissioner Campbell. "In this case, almost 20 acres of mined wetlands have been restored and permanently preserved and can once again serve as critical habitat for wildlife." An extensive wetlands restoration project mitigated the effects of mining activity previously undertaken on the property. The ten-year project restored of 18.4 acres of high resource wetlands and the created an additional 9.9 acres of wetlands. The DEP Green Acres Program purchased the $550,000 S.V. Farming site from Waste Management, Inc. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will reimburse the Green Acres Program $109,000 of the acquisition cost through a National Coastal Wetlands Conservation Grant. The DEP Green Acres Program purchases land to protect environmentally sensitive open space, water resources and other significant natural and historical open space. Land acquired becomes part of the statewide system of parks and forest, wildlife management areas and natural areas. Since Governor McGreevey took office, the Green Acres Program has acquired 68,952 acres of open space-45,873 acres for state projects, 11,797 acres for local projects and 11,282 acres for nonprofit groups. To date, the Green Acres Program has protected more than 551,358 acres of open space and provided funding to develop hundreds of parks statewide. The statewide system of preserved open space and farmland totals more than 1.27 million acres. ### Related Link NJDEP Green Acres http://www.nj.gov/dep/greenacres
  19. Cachers may want to verify the don't have caches in the affected areas. Contact: Elaine Makatura (609) 292-2994 October 26, 2004 Dana Loschiavo (609) 984-1423 State Parks and Forests Offer Firewood for Cutting (04/124) TRENTON - The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is offering residents the opportunity to cut firewood at any of four participating state parks and forests for $15 a cord while supplies last. Through its Homeowner's Firewood Program, DEP's Division of Parks and Forestry opens up state land to individuals interested in cutting firewood for personal use. "Taking advantage of this program provides people with another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and experience nature first hand," said DEP Commissioner Bradley M. Campbell. "Cutting wood for personal use is a beneficial way to cut energy costs while affording individuals a chance to visit state forests." The public can cut up to a maximum of five cords of standing timber. Homeowners are responsible for cutting in designated areas and removing their own firewood. Firewood at Belleplain and Wharton State Forests will not be available for cutting until October 30. Advance reservations are required and can be made for any two consecutive days. The firewood program helps to reduce wildfire hazards by thinning the density of the forest. Cutting opens up the canopy of the forest for new growth reducing competition among existing trees for water and sunlight. Commercial resale of the wood is not permitted. The Homeowner's Firewood Program has been sponsored by the state since 1973. If interested, call or visit one of the following areas for reservations: Belleplain State Forest P.O. 20. Nope, I am pretty sure you are theonly one with priorities that out of whack. Cute kid though, must take after his mom.
  21. Bring it on! Your caches are always entertaining. By the way, I am pacing myself to hit your event for number 200. I might hit your Milestone for #195, but I think the event would also make a good milestone, what are your thoughts? Which would you prefer to see?
  22. Come on, if you are going to shamelessly plug an event, at least have the courtesy to drop in the Link BMSquared will attend x2 and may also be able to provide a blood hound or two if the Yard neeeds extra Bobbies.
  23. I believe that is a feature enabled by your bosses to allow a minimum of 30 seconds of work from your day if you have a tendency to sit on the forums all day. Just my 0.02
