  1. All my assistants hope he gets better soon also. Of course, I wish you both the best also.
  2. I don't know about all states, but I know in New Jersey the topo maps are available through the Rutgers servers for free. They seem to be part of their online government document repository program. Other colleges probably offer similar resources. Just do a Google search or check with the Environmental agency website for links to the topo maps. The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality should be able to lpoint you to the right place. I am not posting the Rutgers link here for 2 reasons. 1. I don't remember it. 2. I think we would swamp the servers if everyone went and grabbed the maps.
  3. Hey, just cuz you hear of the word, don't try to sound too smart. You don't catch me saying "Sponge bath sir?". By the way, the beneficial reclamation of superfund sites and other abandoned contaminated sites is "Brownfields Redevelopment". This is different from the Superfund reclamation, but should definitely be further funded to avoid urban sprawl and save Brians rocky crevasses.
  4. DEP AWARDS $1.2 MILLION IN FEDERAL FUNDS FOR NEW JERSEY TRAILS (04/137) TRENTON - New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Commissioner Bradley M. Campbell today announced that the DEP will allocate up to $1.2 million in federal funds to improve and to develop trails statewide. "Outdoor trails provide residents with many ways to enjoy New Jersey's outstanding natural resources," Acting Governor Richard J. Codey said. "These grants will help us improve New Jersey's trail system and provide greater access for everyone." "The Recreational Trails Program provides the public with recreational use of the state's premiere trail network," said Campbell. "The grants will improve access to open space, enhance environmental resources and provide additional hiking, biking and horseback riding opportunities." DEP will award $528,000 for the development, construction and restoration of 32 trail sites recommended for funding by the New Jersey Trails Council and approved by the Federal Highway Administration. The trails are located in Atlantic, Bergen, Burlington, Cape May, Hudson, Hunterdon, Mercer, Monmouth, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren counties. DEP also has reserved almost $165,000 for the development of future motorized trail projects. In addition to projects already funded, DEP expects to make available up to $700,000 in additional federal grants in 2005 contingent upon congressional reauthorization of the U.S. Department of Transportation's Surface Transportation Bill. These grants will be administered through a competitive process, with recipients required to provide 20 percent in matching funds. Counties, municipalities and non-profit agencies have until December 15, 2004 to apply for the anticipated 2005 funding. Interested parties can contact the DEP Trails Program at (609) 984-1339. More information is available at http://www.nj.gov/dep/parksandforests/natural/njtrails.html.
  5. Do we have many Amish geocachers here? Come on folks raise your hands. Anyone? oh well. I know my wife would never let me cache while we were in Amish country. Those who have pulled it off, I salute you.!
  6. Avroair - I have a coin I can trade you! Still... Let me know where and when, I can return it to you. Unless you want me to drop it in a walk in the park?
  7. I would be willing to take this one. I know the area pretty well, and I am amazed that this area hasn't been developed yet. As long as it is not, I would like to keep people coming back to check it out.
  8. Has anyone else noticed that the photos from some logs have disappeared? I went to post some photos on the Hiker Series caches I had done and noticed that Team Bam Bam's pictures had disappeared. I know they were there last week. Anyway, just to let everyone know about the hiker series, Brian really did find some great views. Here is the view from #4 It was a little cloudy at first, but as the day warmed up and the fog burned off, this was the view we saw. Thanks for the cache!
  9. Create series caches that utilize urban parks to their maximum capacity, then when we run out of room in the park, make the last in the series double back on itself? Use a cacher to attract excessive police attention to caches in the vicinity of homeland security targets, thereby allowing the police to decide which caches to detonate...I mean remove? Redefine the meaning of saturated?

    Funny Logs

Apparently you have missed meeting BrianSnat. Good job. Your probably better off. But to answer your question (and before anyone really abuses you) look at the picture, look at the title of the thread, and consider retracting your question.
  11. You placed it in my back yard. I had my home radius cleared for a short while. If I hadn't spent the day doing the Hiker series, FTF honors were mine. I just didn't have it in me to go after this one. Maybe in the near future, like if I get some time off soon...
  12. I haven't seen too much real bashing in the NorthEast forums. There are one or two personalities that tend to clash, but for the most part (99.5%) of any bashing is usually in jest. Well, some of us DO bash others a little more than most, but there is a special love hate thing with me and Team Bam Bam. Biological brothers tend to be that way. I recommend that you come out to an event or two, get to know some of the locals, and then jump back in the forums and you will see that this really is a community which cares about each other. I will also self promote here, as long as you are in Bergen County, be sure to stop in at my Floopy Bait cache in Waldwick. There is a second one in the same park (Field of Dreams and Streams) and both can be bagged rain or shine. I would not wait for snow for either one though.
  13. Welcome, but be warned, as I have posted previously, Team Bam Bam is a big fat stupid head.
  14. Should I be nice and hand it back, or should I put it in a nice cache somewhere? I was thinking about a lovely little place like Born on the Bayou or A Walk in the Park Anyone have some other creative location to suggest?
  15. Yeah, that does suck... short term memory problems huh? You gave it to me. I logged it in, and I can get it back to you just let me know where and when. I think you gave it to me as the Rolling Rock cache was walking by, then we got distracted. EDIT: Actually, I will hold it ransom for a button, since I failed to pick one up at the event.
  16. First of alll, congratulations on your milestone. Second, I hate to ruin your fun, but there already is another cache in the area. Or at least a stage or two of a multi- if I recall.
  17. There is one guy I know of locally who used them. The problem he ran into was that the coffee container was designed to breakdown with ultraviolet rays (sun light). He ended up having to replace his bio-degrabale container. He is also a little dumb because yes, the container was designed to break down, but he had painted it therby removing the exposure to sunlight. Maybe try using the camo duct tape to keep it in good shape.
  18. I bet his background has been thoroughly checked in the past (each time he was stopped by the police at a cache. I believe I have some proof that you actually planted the evidence and framed her. Will trade for a few WG. PS- Also willing to trade a Mike Rowe for a few bottle caps.
  19. Wow, you kind of sound like a numbers hound that is soworried about his stats that he doesn't even pack food for the helpless 2 year old strapped on his sweaty stinking back or bring his own GPS half the time for that matter. Love you Pookey
