I put on a full bio-hazard suit with a large glass hood and respirator pack and use my GPSr like a detector, sweeping it around in large arcs...
People seem to leave the area very quickly when I do this....
Edit: Just noticed Johnny Stalkers has mentioned my idea.... Darn!!!
Mentioned YOUR idea eh? I was thinking I could point it up and down the muggle, look at the GPSr in shock and then back away slowly. Muttering.."that can't be right, just can't be. She'd have to be.....dead by now." and then RUNNING like heck.
I may do this anyway.

I am not allowed to put sig items associated with my user name in a cache.

If all things were equal, would you rather verify your find by email, or signing a logbook after finding a physical container.
Have to define 'all things equal' for me. Geography is the deciding factor for me. If I want to tour a downtown area or historical site I would prefer virtuals. Give me a good size park, Natioanl Forest etc. I'd much rather have a big beefy ammo can traditional.

JS, if the coords put them 5 miles north of the cache, how the heck did they ever find it? Sorry to be off topic, but it just seems a bit odd.
I am an educated man but I am afraid I cannot speak intelligently about the caching habits of this particular cacher.

I think that a log that is negative in tone and does not offer *constructive* criticism, such as the log in question, can be deleted.
A log should not be deleted just because it has a negative tone. Get some tougher skin... not everyone is going to agree with everything you say or do.
Is deleting the log being done just to make you feel better
or is it being done because it is better for the cache and any
future visitors???
I agree with those who say post a note refuting the negative claim and let
everyone make their own decisions on whether to believe it or not...
I agree with Doc on this one. Had a brand new cacher log our cache Like this. My response was to post this note. Note. What I did not do is delete his log, he made a mistake. I didn't want other cachers to think there was a problem, and I didn't want to discourage a newbie.

She draws treasure maps now. You know: just dashed lines all over a piece of paper ending with an X and brings one along to find the treasure.
Shifty does that too, he is also 4. I'll bet he went through a ream of paper the first month. I think there is a definate connection for him with Dora the Explorer. I could think of worse things to grab a kids imagination.

My thought was to use plaster of paris to build a fake rock on top of an upside down tupperware container. Haven't tried it yet, problem of course would be how you would treat the rock to keep the p.o.p. from returning to liquid in the rain.

Why when I go to the 1 Hour Photo place and put my film in the ONE HOUR envelope, and hand it to the girl they ALWAYS say. "that'll be about an hour and a half." At which time my brain experiences a wierd seizure thing and my eye starts to twitch. I just don't have the heart to get worked up with the sweet girl behind the counter.
ONE HOUR PHOTO PEOPLE!!!! Change your sign or hire more people. Driving me nuts. How about a 1.5 hour photo? How about a big number sign like on roller coasters, Your wait from this point: 76 minutes.
Hey, now...I'm just sitting here in my own little corner of Kansas, trying to mind my own business and play a quiet game of strip solitaire, but you guys keep bringing me into the middle of everything.
I was at the "Everything's A Dollar" store tonight, and the cashier hollered over the intercom for a price check.......

There you go putting us back on topic. Irony that a thread complaining about topics being closed, actually turns out to be a thread complaining about itself not being closed. The mods are also participating, and everyone seems to be having fun. Of course the topic starter has been vacant. Wonder why.
It's hard to get close enough to the keyboard to type with foot in mouth.....
I think they make ergonomic chairs for that condition.

Somebody just reported my post because I used the word dadgum. I apologize for any confusion. I was not cursing, I was using an acronym. It stands for "Decided Against Moderating Newbies." The mods use this abbreviation so that Sparky Watts doesn't get kicked out of the forums

Just use your GPSr as normal. Turn to your caching partner and say "The radiation levels are REALLY spiking here. Shouldn't we be wearing the suits?"

I will second what Sparky said, while you definatley put your foot in your mouth, the end result of your misguided efforts proved to be fun AND productive. If the road to Hell is paved with good intentions, the road to fun must be paved with misconceptions. I think you should be hailed as a visionary and a hero, a scholar and a gentlemen. Pretty ladies will sing songs about your magnificent deeds....ah f*** it...you messed up but it worked out.
