LOG: Left "bones" ?!?!?
LowranceTracker1 replied to Captain Chaoss's topic in General geocaching topics
If someone left PENIS BONES in my cache, I would tell them they were cheap bastards. Heck that's worse than leaving a happy meal toy. I have a friend whose mother would give the "free gifts" she got by buying other stuff from TV infomercials as christmas presents. Now that's cheap!! -
With SA turned off now, why still so inaccurate?
LowranceTracker1 replied to jaedend's topic in General geocaching topics
I generally have accuracy of about 3-5 feet. I have an option of using a separate DGPS antenna to receive Coast Guard beacon signals, but with the kind of accuracy I have now (even with very heavy canopy) I don't feel the extra bucks is worth it. The reason why WAAS doesn't always work well is because the satellites that transmit WAAS signals are only the satellites that are in geo-syncronous orbit around the equator. WAAS was designed for airplane use, not for ground use. -

To WAAS or not to WAAS...

I have used GPS for years to navigate the outback in my 4x4. I own two Lowrance units, a larger unit for my Land Cruiser, and a hand held unit for hiking etc. I was checking out a web site on a state park when I noticed a post on a 'geocache' using gps... I ran a search on geocache and found www.geocaching.com The rest is history.........

My nickname says it all...... Just go buy a Lowrance Global Map 100 !

To WAAS or not to WAAS...
LowranceTracker1 replied to CacheCreatures's topic in General geocaching topics
WAAS is supported by satellites in geo-syncronous orbit around the EQUATOR. WAAS is not good in heavy tree cover in North America. If I wanted to try to improve my accuracy down to a couple of feet (normal accuracy for me anyway) for 95+% of the time, I would go for DGPS. -
To WAAS or not to WAAS...
LowranceTracker1 replied to CacheCreatures's topic in General geocaching topics
Use WAAS? No. Why not? Because it's not supported in most areas, and I don't have any problems getting within 2-4 feet with my GPS in any condition. One good thing Clinton did: Had SA turned OFF. -

I have a Land Rover Discovery Series II and it goes off road. Also a Land Cruiser FJ40 and I have taken it on excursions you wouldn't want to go on ! LT1 -
Poor judgement/behavior by a cacher
LowranceTracker1 replied to Kealia's topic in General geocaching topics
It appears that this subject could go on forever. Therefore I am not going to go into anything lengthy. I just want to say- The coin was meant for someone specific, and you should not have taken the coin regardless. -

quote: I gotta go with RK on this one. Twinkies, HoHo's, and Moonpies. Washed down with a can o Dew. Can anyone say diarrhea? hahahaha! Man all that sugar would make me wanna hit a bush quick. I think banana chips, trail mix, a power bar or something of that nature would be good, although I haven't eaten on a geocache..... -

No I didn't take the 3 hours to read the whole thread. I did read the guy was apoligising in part of the thread. I still wanted to say what I thought about what he did though. His conscious was getting to him even as he logged in the cache, you can see it. He should have put it back and got a grip. -

I was on a local cache in a park when these two black guys come strolling by looking straight out of the seventies with the huge afros and comb pick in the hair etc... They stopped and were eyeballing me a little, and finally one of them approached a little and said "Yo man, what in the **** are you doing with that gadget anyway?" I could hardly keep from laughing (I was also stalling a bit to keep them from seeing that I was headed for a cache) and I told them "I'm from the geological survey society and I'm checking on the level of the earth's gravitational pull and making sure the local levels of radiation aren't too high"..... This guy looks at me with this face and says "RADIATION?" and I said "Yeah, radiation." He looks around and then at his buddy and says "Man, I aint messin with no Ewo Gemo ****, let's boogy!" -
Poor judgement/behavior by a cacher
LowranceTracker1 replied to Kealia's topic in General geocaching topics
The guy is obviously a self serving prick and should not have taken the coin, no matter how much he wanted it. There was NO justification on his part to do so. I have wanted alot of things in my life (and still want things), but we don't always get them right away. This guy sounds like he was really spoiled as a kid and always got instant gratification by his mom anytime he wanted a new toy or something. -
My caches are not going to be welfare centers
LowranceTracker1 replied to Snipe33's topic in General geocaching topics
Post that you left a $100 bill in the cache, and then wait and see if he comes running..... Make sure you let the regulars in your geocaching community know it's a trap, then wait for him camoflauged..... Wait days? Nah.. an hour or two at most, that sucker will come sprinting! -
I have a Pit Bull Terrier, and I don't like the bad press the breed is always getting. Pit Bulls are one family dogs. They are very good with the "family's" children, but only the females are good with other people's children. Pit Bull dogs are like guns, they need to be taken care of properly, and respected. A Pit Bull should NEVER be off a leash in a public area. Responsible owners should know this and act accordingly. My dogs are for guarding my home, and that's what they should be used for. A family pet that gives love and protection. As far as what happened with this geocacher, he should have given the woman a good talking to after the incident. I always carry a good sized canister of Bear Guard pepper spray with me to fend off potentially harmful animals.

What would you do with a nude???
LowranceTracker1 replied to cache magnet's topic in General geocaching topics
I dunno, probably would have told him to put some clothes on, that he had a small pecker and shouldn't be proud of it. -
