  1. English- "Park Closed" Moron- "Jump Fence" If it isn't hard, it isn't worth doing right?
  2. Zone Alarm screwed up my whole computer. I need to wipe the drive and reinstall everything. My computer worked perfectly before Zone Alarm, and now it crashes all the time since it messed everything up. Yes I do know what I am doing, look at my profile........ If it isn't hard, it isn't worth doing right?
  3. quote: To answer the question in the closed "Geostorm!" thread, I do not think it will affect GPS usage much. Ummmm... yeah. I didn't think so either, but it has. Just tonight I went to a cache with a friend (I had done it before and coordinates etc were great) but tonight GPS showed us off by 200 feet...... Now that's an ERROR!] If it isn't hard, it isn't worth doing right?
  4. That ranks right up there with the person who left 'Penis Bones' in a cache for a watch or something....... Was in a forum a while back. Where do these people come from? If it isn't hard, it isn't worth doing right?
  5. I want a Lowrance DGPS unit with a 4' whip antenna to go with my cool Lowrance GM 100.... And of course the cables etc to hook it all up. That should cost...... ummm around $550 or so. Could have used it tonight. The Solar Flare has messed up the satellite signals around here. DGPS would correct those problems. If it isn't hard, it isn't worth doing right?
  6. quote:Seems some folks get somewhat competitive when it comes to being the FTF, and others don't feel they are competitive, yet turn up as the FTF quite often. My question is, how do you feel about being the FTF? Is it different than a regular find, and if so, why? *I wanted to be the FTF on one cache, but didn't make it. It's ok though, I'll still find the cache anyway. It's still fun, though as you say it CAN be a little competetive. My cache time is limited, so for me to get to be FTF would be out of the ordinary....... If it isn't hard, it isn't worth doing right?
  7. Geocaching brings me closer to nature in the city... Your baby is not gone, just waiting for you to catch up. Don't be sad, nobody dies really. Just be there for your wife and have fun in your geocaching and you will both mend. Take care. If it isn't hard, it isn't worth doing right?
  8. Best one out there in LEDs would be a Petzl. I use a regular Petzl headlamp and have not replaced the bulb in 12 years of ownership, and that's alot of use too! I've been very happy with the quality and long life of my Petzl headlamp. If it isn't hard, it isn't worth doing right?
  9. Speaking of my favorite holiday, anyone in my area should go check out my cache...... Just go to the search page and type in area code 78201 and you'll find it. Halloween/Samhain cache..... Have a ghoul time! If it isn't hard, it isn't worth doing right?
  10. quote: I just bought a BFM military or Maximum Gear model in desert camo.See picture below. I plan several excursions into the desert the next 12 months and this pack is perfect. I bought it from Team Shuey, great prices and service. I use a Medium ALICE pack without the frame. It's great for geocaching, but I sure like the looks of this one the guy above posted... very cool. If it isn't hard, it isn't worth doing right?
  11. Just looking at someone the wrong way these days is a 'crime'. What's NOT a crime anymore? This country is full of people who want to regulate and dictate the 'free' people to their deaths. If it isn't hard, it isn't worth doing right?
  12. quote: Originally posted by pkgef:Would a required fee to "play the game" seriously hurt the growth of geocaching? I'm sure the geocaching groups out there would just put up a web site and continue with geocaching themselves for free. You cannot stop something like this. Nobody could put a fee on it, there would be people like me out there who would just start their own geocaching site for the locals.... eventually groups would cross polinate with other groups and it would be a web of geocaching organizations........ see where I am going with this? That's stupid, like the rumor about charging for each email we sent. It wouldn't fly. If it isn't hard, it isn't worth doing right?
  13. I wish someone would leave some knives or guns in a cache for me to find. Especially if it's an HK 93 If it isn't hard, it isn't worth doing right?
  14. Sorry to hear that. I really hate Magellan. Way too many problems from too many users over the years. If you want color, or it's mandatory considering your wife, I would go with the Garmin 76S which is color and has alot of nice features. For me, it's always been Lowrance all the way. For heavy tree coverage, I've never seen another GPS unit beat a Lowrance. I use the Global Map 100, which the picture to the left is....... If it isn't hard, it isn't worth doing right?
  15. What I use: Petzl 'Arctic' high beam headlamp. Back up lights: Pelican 'Super SabreLite' (very bright) Maglite 'Mini-Mag' AA flashlight. What I am considering purchasing: Petzl LED/Torch combo headlamp with 5 LEDs. I'm also considering making my own headlamp with 10 LEDs. LEDs barely need any energy to illuminate. The trade off is in 'in your face' brightness. If it isn't hard, it isn't worth doing right?
  16. I just sent Cedar Point a comment. Here it is: quote: Just read on the www.geocaching.com FORUM about a guy who had his GPS receiver taken away from him by the park security. All I'll say is that if anyone tried to take my personal property they would end up eating concrete. I think people are getting wayyyyy to carried away with all this 'national security' mumbo jumbo. Don't be foolish, don't try to take the personal property of your patrons. I have thought of visiting Cedar Point at some time in the near future, but after reading about this, I am now thinking my money might be better spent at another park. After all, the guy was just using it to find his way back to his car that evening. If it isn't hard, it isn't worth doing right?
  17. Here we do not have Park Rangers. We have actual Park Police. I was very against this when it was proposed but it obviously passed. I don't care what anyone says, Police or not, nobody is taking my property. I am sure I would have been arrested for my reaction to the Police trying to steal my property. I don't like cops to begin with. I really don't like people trying to dictate what I can and cannot do either. Rings too much of Orwellian 1984 to me. If it isn't hard, it isn't worth doing right?
  18. People don't really leave anything good around here. Usually propaganda or some happy meal junk... More of the hunt and adventure of it than the find... Except it's fun to sign the log book If it isn't hard, it isn't worth doing right?
  19. quote: I am looking for a breed that is good with kids, yet can stand up to a day out geocaching. Look no further. Female Pit Bull Terrier. Great with the kids, super protective, trainable, and is more athletic than any other dog on the planet. What else could you wish for? If it isn't hard, it isn't worth doing right?
  20. Who takes a baby on a geocache? You do. Geocaching can involve some element of RISK. I suggest you leave the newborn at home with a sitter. It's your risk to attempt any sort of cache, whether it's a walk in the park, or scaling a cliff etc. and it's part of the game to not know too much what to expect.
  21. I never liked virtual caches myself. I just placed a cache (my first regular cache) for Halloween and it was approved immediately. I thought I was going to have to wait days or something, but within an hour it was up. I was pretty happy about that considering how many caches I have seen here on the forums getting denied I was a little anxious about it. I mean, if a cache is sent in to be approved, it should be approved. If there seems to be some sort of "I wonder if that's safe" or whatever about the cache, then geocaching.com should send out an approved cache investigator in the area to check it out. That might take all of a day considering how many people are geocaching no?
  22. Anyone use "Skin So Soft"? I do when I need a good repellent for mosquitos. It works too, and no DEET. I generally wear long sleeves and pants, but will put the SSS on my neck, back of hands and face. Try it out.
  23. quote:Originally posted by ~del Mar~:I'll have to add tweezers and a comb for cactus removal to that! Good idea!
  24. What is my geocaching gear? Medium Alice Pack in Olive Green (No Frame) Lowrance GM 100 GPS Stocker & Yale Military Tritium Compass Petzl Arctic Headlamp Extra AA Batteries Small 10x25 Camo Bushnell Binoculars Small Spiral Log Book to log my finds for my own records. Trade items. From small inexpensive to larger moderately priced items. Canteen with water. Leather work gloves for reaching into stuff with thorns etc. Couple of Power Bars.
