  1. I post all my experiences; good or bad. It's a way of letting the cache owner (and everyone else who seeks the cache) what problems may have been encountered. Also, if I had a super good time, it may inspire others to visit as well. Just my 2 cents...
  2. Thank you! I agree with you. There's no way to ban all Geocaching everywhere. What about the ones placed on private property? Virtuals? Etc. There's absolutely no way.
  3. I like the idea of just putting a note in there and use the same book.
  4. I will take ten! how much? Where do I get them? That's totally cool! Details, please...?
  5. Unfortunately, after many months of having this cache I feel that it is best to remove it and relocate it to private property (that is owned by family). Why? Well, getting permission wasn't a problem; in fact the park manager has okayed SEVERAL other caches throughout the park. The problem was getting an official permit for it. No permit could equal a fine, regardless of permission. So what do I do with all the things that people have left behind? I don't think it's fair for me too keep all of these cool things. So what do I do with them? Place the items in other caches? Use them for a new cache? Ideas anyone?
  6. Yes, she is good looking. Too bad I'm already engaged and living in NY.
  7. I've never been to a Geocaching event before, and so far nobody has posted any nearby where I live. So I'm wondering, where are good places to host events (besides my house)? Are pizza and wing nights popular? Anybody have any ideas for locations or activities? Please help! []
  8. Thanks... I thought I was the ONLY ONE who didn't get it!
  9. Don't bother meeting people over the net. They're never what they claim or appear to be. However, she does mention geocaching, so at least we know that if nothing else, she has one redeeming quality.
  10. I'm not a local but I too took a trip there in the middle of winter. All the gift shops were closed and everything (I mean everything) in the general area of the falls was covered in about 2+ inches of ice. However, going there in the middle of winter will almost certainly gurantee that you will not encounter any tourist crowds. As for snow? Forget about it! It's completely unpredictable, but the good news is that they keep the roads open and pretty much cleared. But with your Jeep, you shouldn't have a problem. I made it from Albany to Buffalo in a 1991 Honda Station Wagon during a snowstorm, mind you. Enjoy your trip!
  11. I've heard the term, travel bug hotel tossed around a few times, but nobody has ever explained exactly what it is. Please help!
  12. Oops! Thanks for reminding me... I have paid / Part-Paid / Volunteer experience; I've done all sorts of different systems in my career.
  13. Thanks...I want this to be different than just editing someones for the fun...this is more like requests that are serious. Do you have a website with sample avaters?
  14. I always post a DNF if I checked the entire area for more than a reasonable amount of time and came up empty. If you view my profile, you will see a list of caches that I was unable to find after multiple tries and just simply gave up. Also, if enough DNF's are logged, it raises a little bit of suspicion on the part of admin and they will look into it. There is really nothing worse than hiking through the woods only to find a missing cache or one that simply cannot be found.

  17. EMT / Firefighter; 8 years experience, all over NY state, including NYC. (Did my photo give it away...?)
  18. To be honest, I do it all the time. If I find a TB online that has a goal of a place I'm going to travel to, or in the general direction, I go and pick it up. I've actually grabbed a TB and made plans for it to travel with family to a specific destination. It's all good.
  19. I have mine set to constantly broadcast just in case. I figure I've got nothing to hide, and if I were to get injured and couldn't call for help, at least I'd have the cell phone broadcasting my location. Unfortunately cell phone companies didn't set up the phone to display the GPS data to the user. Of course not...! This might actually be a USEFUL feature!
  20. I got creative and used stuff I could find from around the house. I settled by using a 35mm film can and taping a refrigerator magnet to it by wrapping a few layers of electrical tape around all of it. Crude, yet effective and it's all black and difficult for muggles to notice. Just my quick and easy solution.
  21. Lifestyle. Though a good, healthy adventurous one.
  22. Oops! Guess I didn't notice. Thanks. (My bad...)
