I had a problem with a track file locking up the Oregon. I used a text editor and found some garbage characters in the date stamp, changed the date and the problem went away. I also save a waypoint under a tree canopy and had the same problem, garbage characters in the date section. I edited the date and the waypoint worked again. Maybe Garmin needs a date verification check sum in the firmware to verify a valid date has been entered or save to the last known date?

This is true. I've noticed this and a similar problem on the CO when you change the symbol of a waypoint or geocache the map still shows the old icon (or both new/old). Panning the map so that the cache falls off the screen and back on fixes it. GO$Rs I'm also seeing the icon problem on the Colorado.
