  1. Oh dear! That's not very welcoming!! We're looking into the problem to try and find out why you couldn't register!!!
  2. A new forum has been started as an outlet for the North East geoaching community to discuss all things regarding geocaching. Previous similar NE caching message boards, although popular, seem to have migrated to the world of Facebook. The new forum is an alternative to the Facebook option for those who aren't, as well those that are, Facebook members. All are welcome here: http://negeocaching.co.uk The intention is to concentrate on geocaching in the north east counties of England, that is Northumberland, Tyne & Wear, County Durham and Teeside, so if you cache in that area, or are planning a visit – and why wouldn’t you – then please feel free to sign up.
  3. Sorry folks! It's now disappeared - panic over!! - but it was definately there!!!
  4. Tonight, I was browsing some of my recent "found logs" and noted on one that a link had been added to the phrase "easy find" but this wasn't added by me! I have reported this to Groundspeak and await a response. See my log for 31 May 2012 on GC23W2T and I notice that the log after me has a similar link. Any suggestions?
  5. Thanks, Mrs B. I think that the post answers the question. I did send a message to Groundspeak last night but haven't had a reply yet. its now working! I still haven't had a reply to my message to Groundspeak but the site is indeed working again and I have been able to update my profile.
  6. St James Park is almost in the centre of Newcastle so the city centre is going to be a "Geocaching no-go area" for the period. I intend putting "warning" messages on my affected caches to give visitors plenty of notice.
  7. Thanks, Mrs B. I think that the post answers the question. I did send a message to Groundspeak last night but haven't had a reply yet.
  8. I have the same problem! I get a message saying: "This site is currently unavailable due to constraints on your system resources." Whatever that means!!
  9. I'm pleased/relieved to hear that it's not just me!
  10. I would agree with regard to "physical" caches but, in my opinion, it would be acceptable to log "Attended" for a meet that I'd organised. Or, do others disagree?
  11. What is the "normal etiquette" with regard to those "soggy, mushy" logs that we all come across at some time or another - usually in a 35mm film canister? I usually try to carry spare logs, of varying sizes, but when I find a log that is completely mushy I'm not sure if I should remove it and replace it, or not! I have in the past removed and replaced full log rolls, particularly nanos, offered to send the full logs on to the CO, and I can't remember an instance when the CO has even responded!!
  12. The Jersey war tunnels are an interesting place to visit and there is an easy cache just up the road from the car park. See: GC15R30
  13. I think that I'm right in saying that Groundspeak uses "Seattle time"! I had to recently change a date because I went out early in the morning to "tick a box" before catching a flight - I know it's a bit sad! - and when I checked it was recorded as the day before!!
  14. I've planned a trip to Shetland for May and this is a cache that I'm planning on attempting. I have already discovered that I need to be very carefull not to get my consonants mixed up when discussing my plans!
  15. Edinburgh is a great place for caching. I often get a cheap "day return" from Newcastle for a few caches and frequent some of the great pubs! If you are into a bit of excercise there are some great caches in Holyrood Park, including the earthcache on the top of Arthur's Seat. If you are more into the "tourist bits" there are three multis down the Royal Mile: GCKTYK Edinburgh's Royal Mile, GC196YK Father to Jekyll & Hyde and GCKTYP Not Edinburgh's Royal Mile. They tend to overlap but with a bit of complicated pre-planning it is possible to do all three while walking down the Royal Mile without having to back-track - or at least so I believe!!
  16. Thanks for that! I've sometimes wondered how it could be done!! Now I know!!!
  17. Not to mention DNFs on one of our Earthcaches!! I've logged a DNF on an EarthCache! I forgot to take a photograph of "me or my GPS" at the location, although, these days, that wouldn't matter!!!
  18. Some people might welcome the change! It's the "halfs" that can be the hard ones to get!!
  19. I also think that I haven't seen as many wasps this year but most people seem to think that there are more! I do wonder though if insects are avoiding me! I've just come back from north west Scotland and didn't see a midge!! And, here's me all equipped with the moisturiser that is reputedly used by forestry workers to keep the mozzies away!!! Ding dong!!!!
  20. Thanks for that! It was easy once it was pointed out!!
  21. I was hoping to create a database in GSAK of my finds. However, although I was able to find ways of downloading via PQs of my finds which were still "active", I wasn't able to include those "finds" that had been archived! Can anyone, please, tell me how/if I can include "archived caches"? I can view a complete list of "found caches" through my Geospeak Profile but can this be "copy and pasted" into another database?
  22. Thanks B and R, I shall try this! I have to admit macros are new territory for me!!
  23. Your best bet would be to limit your search to Eastern England, then use GSAK to filter out anything not in Norfolk....? Can you please explain how is this done? As far as I can see the UK county is not a field in the GSAK database.
  24. I know a few "rough" pubs where T5 might well be appropriate!
  25. I received this week's "Groundspeak Weekly Newsletter" earlier today and the "In the News" section had: 3. Mike Bushell goes geocaching, BBC News (Northumberland, UK [my underlining]), 31 January 2011. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-12307628 I suppose that if you are sitting in California with a world atlas in front of you, Northumberland might well appear to be approximately the centre of the UK! I understand that there have been lots of problems persuading BBC staff to relocate from London to Manchester! If they had been proposing to move from London to rural Northumberland I think that they would have had to close down the BBC!! But, that would have been their loss!!!
