  1. I took advantage of an after-Thanksgiving sale and bought a Kodak DX4530. Of course, I’ve only played around with it for a couple of months, but so far I am impressed. It’s really easy to use and takes great pictures. There’s one thing I wanted to mention, though. Kodak digital cameras have a built-in color saturation “feature.” If you’re a point-and-shoot type of photographer, this feature will give pictures that are vibrant and colorful without you having to do anything to enhance them. If, on the other hand, you’re more of a serious photographer who likes to have natural raw images to work with, this automatic color saturation feature (which can’t be turned off) may end up making you really hate Kodak cameras. Personally, though, I love it.
  2. Oh, okay. I was wondering if that might be the case. Also, I just tried searching for a fish using only its three-digit number (without a preceding zero) and that works fine. So, cbr4fun, to answer your question, I'm quite certain you've found digitalfish's signature item.
  3. I agree with you there. I never mention my trades (I actually rarely trade, anyway) in my online logs, but always mention them in the logbook. Another consideration is that "pirates" or "cache maggots," as they have been called, might just be enticed to raid a cache after reading an online log that mentions a nice trade item.
  4. Geocaching is incredibly fun and, at times, challenging. It’s a motivation for me to do more physical activity. It’s a great reason to get out and explore new areas. It can be frustrating and even dangerous. It can be addictive, causing other, more important things to get neglected. It increases the amount of money I spend on gas, car maintenance, etc., as well as on AA batteries.

  6. Do you consider this fish to have a three-digit number?? I'd consider it to be four digits, but whatever.
  7. It seems they are the signature item of the cacher digitalfish. There is a link on his/her profile page that can be used for tracking them. I see, however, that digitalfish's fish are identified using a four-digit number, not a three-digit number like on the items you describe. Hmmm...
  8. I never knew that! Thanks!!
  9. I've archived several submissions exactly like the one described by the OP. Of course, this does not mean that it's not a great idea, it just means that you won't be able to list it on Geocaching.com. Go ahead and hold an event or even place a cache as you had first intended! There are other ways to get the word out about it. Use another listing service, use the forums of your local caching organization (if you're lucky enough to have one), or just use word-of-mouth. I think (hope) few cachers would really be disappointed that they can't add a "found it" smiley to their GC.com stats for it. You could even bill it as an event where "the needy will get the smiley." ...I don't know... it could work.
  10. How much of public radio’s content is created by the listener?
  11. That's what I'm talking about!! Surely Jeremy has the time to jump up, drop whatever he's doing, and respond simply by linking to that page each time this subject comes up. Thanks, AllenLacy.
  12. Well, if Groundspeak offered their version, it would at least give us some reason to think maybe we shouldn't take the other side's account at face value. Right now, there's simply no reason to doubt it. <I guess we both should go find a cache. >
  13. Yeah, that buffoon really should go out and... hey, wait a minute. Point taken.
  14. If this account isn’t true, please give us your version. I think many people are weary of Groundspeak only because of its policy/tendency to remain silent on so many issues. Your silence, of course, speaks volumes and causes people to make assumptions. It’s up to you to set the record straight, otherwise, don’t be alarmed when people draw their own conclusions.

  16. You're right. That was an assumption I shouldn't have made. For the record, I have no problem with girl-liking cyborgs carrying firearms.
  17. I guess you missed my point. Criminal is human. He has emotions. He makes mistakes. Edit: Just to clarify, I posted in response to uperdooper's post, before reading Mr.Benchmark's post. Another great post, Mr.Benchmark, I certainly have a hard time disagreeing with your logic. (I appreciate your post, too, uper ) I just wanted to mention... things got a little out of sequence there.
  18. No, being uniquely trained and qualified to carry concealed and discharge aboard an aircraft in flight, I don't just feel better protected, I am better protected. It is exactly this type of inflated confidence that makes a person carrying a gun actually less safe. You'd be more likely to avoid dangerous situations altogether, less likely to stand up to a dangerous confrontation, and more likely to make it home safely, without the gun. I know you'll disagree, but let's hope I'm never proven right.
  19. Sure, you could carry one of those around, or you could carry one of these around: Trust me, the only thing carrying a gun will do is make you feel safer.
  20. Wow, fantastic post, Mr. B.! What more can be said? I guess this is an issue that has never seriously crossed my mind, being a rather stout male. We could all fall victim, though. Even with mace or a gun or kung fu mastery, you may not be able to react quickly enough to thwart an attacker. Until now, my only irrational geocaching fear had been stepping into an old bear trap.
  21. Congratulations, Lapaglia. You win. Go high-five yourself. While you’re at it, see if CO_Admin is anywhere to be found. I think you need to be given one of these:
  22. "Trick of the trade" is the best guess I can come up with. Would this make sense in the context that it's being used?
  23. I believe thats because the rain (heavy rain) will wash it off. But I dont know about light rain. What happens when the collar sits for a couple of hours in water-logged fur, though?
