  1. I sort of look at the logbook as being, well, a log book. Logging in and out TBs makes a paper trail that can sometimes help track down missing TBs. [snip] Perhaps I'm completely off the mark here, [snip] I don't think you're completely off the mark. I think you should log anything of significance you did to the cache. I think most items added or removed are significant. Adding a pencil or pen for the log book probably is not significant, adding a special pencil or pen to a writing implements cache is significant. In essence there are two logs, each a backup for the other. If someone forgets to log an action in one, hopefully they logged the action in the other. However, since the online log is more easily accessed by anyone, at anytime, and isn’t likely to be destroyed or lost; it’s probably best to at least log it in the online log.
  2. Maybe I missed the correct sentence but what I did see under the permanence guidelines was that traveling caches may not be approved but are not strictly prohibited. There is a traveling cache near me. It has a set of rules about how and where it's to be moved and you are supposed to leave a 35 mm film container at its previous location with coordinates of its new location to help with the time problem of getting back to post the new coordinates.
  3. Go here and sign up. You might also try sorting the Advanced Search List by distance. Nevermind - it sorts by the distance the travel bug traveled instead of by the distance of it from your registered location. Apparently you can't get a list of TB's with a particular attribute sorted by distance from your location.
