  1. Oh, and to stay on topic: I wonder what the real issue is behind this. Is there political infighting in the geocaching organization there?

No, from my experience, it’s been a fairly tight-knit organization. Mostly a fun bunch. Until one individual came into the forums with some very high ideals.

With your kind permission, sir, I would like to borrow that for use in future discussions, especially with some of my relatives.

ditto that, except the part about the relatives. :o

  2. I usually get the "Country Bears" soundtrack going through my head.....here's why John Hiatt could have had a really good caching tune, had he put some of these songs together.

"Let It Ride" talks about where you're coming from and where you're going to....

sun in your face...hole in your shoe

"Where Nobody Knows My Name" mentions a town down the road where I ain't been before..... nobody knows my name, or what I'm looking for

"Straight To The Heart" says things like:

we take the long way around, we get lost and we get found.......climbing mountains crossing streams..... shortest distance from lonely ... going to find a way to go

which brings us to "It's Just The Going"

nobody else can be showing which way to go....and you're not even sure where you're going to......Sometimes It's just the going

  3. I'm fairly new to this too, but the things I find cool about it are....that you can sit at home wondering what to do, but you usually end up doing the same old things again, and again. This "sport" gets you out to some place new, usually some place cool that you didn't know was there. The getting there is fun...you're going somewhere....but you don't even know where. Then there is the thrill of the hunt, the spoils of victory, or the agony of defeat.

Plus it can be good exercise. How cool is that?

It's an awesome way to enjoy the great outdoors. I think you appreciate it more because you've never seen the area before. You enjoy the getting there because in a sense you're already there....the whole thing is an adventure.
