ok,new to this so it's probably something simple. I have 1000 caches loaded in my oregon 450t of my local area. I am going on a caching trip this weekend so i did a 1000 cache query on the area where i am going and also a 500 cache query on the route. Now whenever i load one of these from gsak to the gpsr it loads but it deletes the one that was allready there. In other words it will only load one query in the gpsr. Is this right? If so is there a way to merge several queries into one? Please help because i am totally confused.

Geocaching in nashville ?
kissguy&frannyfru replied to kissguy&frannyfru's topic in General geocaching topics
If it were me, I send an inquiring email to two or three CO's in the area. good idea. done! -
Thinking about taking a geocache trip to nashville and was wondering about the state of caching there after the flood and the general state of the downtown area in general?

ok,back to my original post. I was worried about nothing. The guy just emailed me to thank me for the hint. I looked at the profile and he found 6 that day with the one he asked for a hint on being the first. So i feel alot better and ,yes,I would now do it again. Feels good to help a fellow cacher.

Man,i didn't mean to start all this. LOL

True, guess i just got a little concerned when i saw that they just registered the day i found the cache. Probably nothing but i'm going to put it on my watchlist for a while anyway.

Transferring .gpx to Oregon 450 hit or miss
kissguy&frannyfru replied to GarnetValleyCachers's topic in Website
i do all of mine from gsak as "send to gps" on my 450 and have never had a problem. -
I got an e-mail today from a person asking about a cache i found last week in another town. They were asking for a hint as they were having trouble finding it. I figured they were asking me because i was the last to find it. Well being a nice guy who likes to help out fellow cachers i gave them a good hint. Then out of curiosity i looked at their profile and it seems like they just registered last week, the same day i found the cache and they dont have any finds or any activity since. This has me wondering if this is someone who saw us out there(cemetery) and has figured out what is going on and is intent on stealing the cache. What do you do when getting hint request from people you dont know? Guess it's a good idea to look at a profile first.

deleting found caches
kissguy&frannyfru replied to kissguy&frannyfru's topic in GPS technology and devices
gotcha,thanks. im learning -
Ok, after finding caches and marking them as found i went to gc.com and uploaded my field notes, logged my finds and then deleted the file "geocache_visits.txt" . But when i look at found caches on the unit it self they are all still there. They are not in the folder anymore but they are still on the unit. Is there another way to delete found caches off the unit?

ok,forgive all the questions but im kinda new at this techno stuff my question,i have all ready downloaded 1000 caches to my oregon 450t. They seem to cover about 70 miles in all directions. I am going on a trip that is 100 miles away.If i do a pocket query for that area and load it and some of the caches overlap will it put them on the unit twice or will it only load the ones that are not all ready on the unit? Also,is it true the 450t will hold 5000 caches? thanks for all yalls help

1) Any Ultra-Low Self Discharge (aka precharged aka hybrid) NiMH. Make sure the listed capacity is 2000 mAh or 2100 mAh - although so far unlike non-ULSD cells, there aren't "cheapo" ULSDs with pitiful capacity on the market yet 2) MaHa MH-C9000 is great, but LaCrosse BC-700 is more than enough for nearly anyone and $20 cheaper ($30 for the LaCrosse, $50 for the MaHa 3) No, car power supply will stop battery discharge, but will not recharge batteries. Thanks alot,i found some that are 2500 mah, will they work ok?

What are some good rechargable batteries and charger that wont break the bank to use with an oregon 450t? Also, can you charge these with a car charger while still in the unit?

kissguy&frannyfru replied to kissguy&frannyfru's topic in GPS technology and devices
I forgot to directly answer your question. Go to the /Garmin directory on the unit and cut the *.img file and paste it into the SD cards /Garmin directory. As the Wiki states, you can rename the file and it will work. Just remember to not change the .img extension. ok,i did that now it is not showing up on the unit under maps anymore. Do you somehow have to tell it to read off the card? Which map did you move? a mississippi map off of filedepot -

Is it hid somewhere?

uploading finds from my garmin oregon 450t
kissguy&frannyfru replied to RatCatRaiders's topic in GPS technology and devices
plug your gps to your computer and go to gc.com website. Go to your profile and scroll down to "access your field notes". go to "Garmin - Colorado and Oregon GPS Receivers" click the "here " button to the right and follow the insructions. -
another oregon 450 question
kissguy&frannyfru replied to kissguy&frannyfru's topic in GPS technology and devices
No can do. We don't have access to the area where "found" is tagged. You have to either move the entire gpx offline and delete them from the gpx and send it back to your Oregon, or log them at gc.com and download another PQ without them. FWIW, once you've marked them as found on your Oregon, they shouldn't be showing up again unless you ask to see your Found caches. man that sucks. In that case how can you delete all caches at one time so you can download another pq? Im not the most tech savvy guy in the world but im slowly figuring this thing out. -
