I felt a need to respond. I know Groundspeak has guidelines not rules for cache placement, but we feel thay should be followed so the sport of geocaching is consistent all over. Here is a section of those guidelines quoted. Note that ammo should not be placed in caches, "harmless" or not. Yes, kids do geocache on their own. I 100% agree with J&J! Almost all weapons are perfectly harmless, when in the hands of someone trained to use them. Its that when someone find the cache and goes "Ooo! A bullet, lets it hit with a hammer!"

THIS JUST IN! After about 6-7 years of Geocaching..... I just found out how to upload hints onto my GPS...And here I wanted a new one just so I could upload hints and maps.

That would be a shame. Pushawalla was a fun hike and a pretty unique experience Almost all of those caches where within' 10ft of the trail as well. IT'S A FRIGGIN DESERT! Pretty soon the only way to see any of our countries wildlife will be on the discovery network as everything will be off-limits.

No it won't be Jahoadi. Quit deluding yourself. It is all about the numbers. I submit as proof, your own numbers! If you insist on hiking with your friends, you will have a rotten time, thinking of how many caches you could be getting. You will be kicking youself in the pants at every "find" they make. This is really lame. Don't do it! What you are displaying here is a classic example of congnitive dissonance. Tell your friends that you are too ill to hike with them, wish them luck, and then go someplace where you can get some new finds. I know this is sacrilege, but I would actually enjoy not having to log a gazillion caches when I got home...

As long as I have been camping in Anza Borrego (about 20 years), that has not been allowed inside the State Park. There are areas just outside the park where you can probably do that legally though. Correct Rock circles = Prohibitied in ABDSP Must be in metal containers, like an old 50 gallon drum, or an old keg with the top chopped off.

I hate it when that happens. You must have a lot of caches in your area. It looks like you have over 2700 finds and you still had 18 caches within 5 miles before these puzzles were posted? I've only got 305 finds but have found all but four caches within 10 miles of where I live. Only one is a puzzle cache (which I have solved) but it and two others are in areas that are not very winter accessible. On the other hand only three of the caches within 10 miles of my home coordinates are in lamp post skirts. Come down to San Diego sometime, we have areas with enough caches to blow your mind!

Yea, I looked at him funny when he said we would be out all day, sun up to sun down, and only do 8 miles=). Thanks for tagging along it was great having you girls along for the adventure in the mist!

Geocaching does not have any impact on the environment . . . Some of the caches that were removed had been found only six times in the past year. Also, in the Ocotillo Wells area, there just isn't any scenery like this, which is near where the Powder Can Cache was located. Nor is there evidence of past History such as this: And, in the Ocotillo Wells area, I sure haven't seen anything like this, which is in the Domelands area. I am very indebted to the cachers who put caches in those locations giving me the opportunity to see those places and have wonderful memories of caching in ABDSP. Why must there be a box of trinkets at the end of your trail? You poor soul, not know the feeling of discovering somewhere new on your own. It must suck to need a guide to enjoy the desert. Seems pretty clear to me that she was indicating that you should be thinking about the young'un's first GPSr instead of selfishly thinking of yourself. I'd suggest something that is water/drool resistant for starters. Shock resistant is good since those little fingers will probably drop it on the trail a few times. Big buttons would be a plus. And since he/she will probably have it for awhile, I'd suggest a GPSr that has plenty of rubberized parts for teething. (The antenna of the Garmin 60 series seems ideal...) I think he gets my old Meridian Gold. That thing has survived countless drops and submersions.

I bought my Meridian Gold back in 2003, and after purchasing a SD card, finally, I found out my GPSr can only handle a 128mb..... I think its time for a new GPSr. I am hoping to "cheaply" purchase a used GPSr from someone local here in the San Diego region, that may have upgraded to a new one and has their older one lying around. I tried to get the wife to let my buy a Colorado but she pointed and her pregnant belly and said "Don't you think the money could be spent better here?" If anyone could help, that would be wonderful!

The big thing that becomes a problem is that if anyone can list an Item with what ever number they want we will have tons of numbers that are the same out there, causing lots and lots of problems. All you people that a whining need to calm down and realize.... Its just a game! You only have to spend what you want to on it.
