  1. Nevermind. The deed is done.
  2. As some of you may or may not know our venerable BrianSnat is currently holding at 9,999 posts Now, those of use who have met or read Brian's very informative forum posts know that he is a very thoughtful and helpful guy who loves to share his bountiful knowledge and opinion with us. Why is he holding at 9999 you might ask, who knows !?! But the real question to ask is, "When is he going to cave and jump into a topic of discussion?" Any predictions?
  3. I have met dozens of geocachers both on the trails and at social gatherings. I also organize group hikes (hunts) where friendly geocachers meet and hunt together. Like any group, there are all kinds of geocachers.
  4. No, I am afraid not. My bluetooth enabled GPS IS a brick, but it connects to my PDA for a display. It does a better job at getting a signal in the city (New York), but whenever I get an e-mail or I play a tune I lose the signal!
  5. I use Mac GPS pro for transferring waypoints and routes from my GPS to my computer and I import .GPX waypoint files from the GC.com straight to my GPS. The software is easy to use, but a little clunky. But it beats manually entering 25 waypoints!!! Yes, I use serial \ USB at home. But I also am able to use Bluetooth while I am at work. I haven't used any mapping software yet though.
  6. I have a Garmin Legend (and use it with a Mac) just fine. It is my favorite out of the GPS units I have.
  7. I stand by my point: In my opinion, caches should not belong NEXT to a police station.
  8. I had the same exact situation. A unique (at least in my mind) cache container. I didn't want people to give away that it was a 'creative cache' so I politely asked the first 3 finders to remove references in their logs. They all obliged and the cache remained a mystery for a little while longer. I wouldn't pin your hopes on keeping the cache container a secret for too much longer than that though... word still gets out!!!
  9. Cool stats... just an aside note that the top 8 states all went for Kerry! (this is not a political comment, just an observation) So New Jersey is #2 huh? It seems to be getting denser by the day! Are there stats on the number of archived caches in a month verses new ones listed?
  10. If I find the cache container empty or I find the logbook strewn about - I log a find If I KNOW (FOR CERTAIN) the cache should be there, but it is not - I log a DNF If Brian logs a DNF - I laugh (his DNF posts are funnier than his find posts!)
  11. Funny this should come up since I have been watching this cache, since I wanted to place a cache nearby. It was archived two weeks ago. Link Trowel got it right.
  12. As Brian says, notify your admin, wait two weeks and replace the cache. (if the cache owner fails to respond).
  13. Did they sign the log book? At my ill-fated Green Man cache. The detective signed my log book! I think you did a great job defusing the situation.
  14. Congrats! Fat Boy!!! (Nice picture!)
  15. My Green Man Lives cache hasn't been visited since May!
  16. Sorry I missed the early crew! Thanks for putting together this event.
  17. Why would anyone hide an ammo can next to a police station? Even with getting permission this seems ridiculous! Places caches donot belong: * under powerlines (it's private property) * next to gaslines (it's also private property) * next to an elementary school * behind a firing range * on a major bridge * next to a police station Why even take a chance and place a cache in these spots? I have been questioned by the police at all of the above mentioned spots while looking for a cache.
  18. I thought I could attend, but my wife just informed me of a Thanksgiving dinner I have to attend (yup two weeks early!!! office party) hope you guys get good weather!
  19. did you get the answer you were looking for?
  20. I can't attend the paintball And I am 50% for the dinner Sorry I can't be more definate
  21. And more!!! If you would like to attend, please send me a note or post one to the cache page: HERE
  22. November 14th Event Murder Mystery Tourne Asunder Some of the notorious geocachers attending: (thanks to BrianSnat and others for helping with the names)
