  1. Actually nobody. If Groundspeak weighed in with time stamps on logs to back up their actions, someone here would say they were faked. I've yet to see evidence that this isn't a isolate incident. The one linked to earlier is an entirely different situation. Oh, come on Brian...most of us are rational here. And that cache I linked to looked amazingly similar to me. The "Moonpie" one...well, that's not quite the same at all (I suspect it was a liar's cache with the requirement you log a DNF???). Seems to me to be a case of the CO playing games because there were complaints of the container mysteriously appearing where they already looked. But it could have just been a very well hidden, camouflaged container. I know I've found caches in places I've sworn I've looked before. Some are just that well hidden. That could've been the case for that one...
  2. I have nothing but the highest respect for Nomex but how could Groundspeak make any kind of determination without contacting the cache owner with their specific concerns? If the email exhange posted by SF/TPE is accurate and complete, this was not done. If Groundspeak did contact the cache owner then that should be clarified. A third party could know the truth. Be it friends or family.
  3. I have a very similar theory to this one...
  4. Not necessarily. It could mean geo-litter from those searching for the cache. Meaning make sure the cache site is a nice or nicer than when you "placed" the cache.
  5. Conspiracy theory here, but what if the reviewers or someone else set up a recorder at the cache location to see if he actually visited the site after the needs maintenance logs\?
  6. I've deleted my post, if you could edit your post to exclude my past reply, I would appreciate it.
  7. deleting. should not have gotten involved in this thread.
  8. Oh yay, thanks for showing us where we can get more micros! Just what we need.
  9. That's why I said to each his own on the cache we attempted to find. I guess the only real issue I had is that we had downloaded caches that had a specific terrain rating(which was quite a few caches) only to find it basically unavailable during the summer without a boat or swimming. We didn't read cache descriptions as we figured that the ratings should be proper. Oh well...
  10. Recently we attempted to find two caches that were both either or below a two terrain. Come to find out one is on an island in the middle of a pond/lake. The other is about 60 feet in one of the great lakes. Cache hider stated that he rated them based on the terrain in the winter when you could walk on the ice. I mentioned in my logs that they should either be disabled(one of them actually has no trespassing signs near it during the summer) or have the difficulty changed during the summer months and he apparently disagreed with me on that point and posted a little note on one of the cache pages stating how he has it stated in the cache page that these are meant to be winter caches. To each his own I'm saying on this one, though I'm still disappointed.
  11. this cache as a Find because I was visiting Montana from Washington. EVEN if the owner said I could, I wouldn't. I did not find the cache and as a result, I did not sign the log. So what if I was in the area? That was incidental. -=-=edited to add this=-=- http://www.geocaching.com/about/finding.aspx The Find Huzzah! You found the cache! Congratulations! Now what? Usually you take an item and leave an item, and enter your name and experience you had into the log book. Some people prefer to just enter their name into the log book. It’s an accomplishment enough to locate the cache. I'm not seeing where it says "Congrats! You found the location!" Actually I don't see where it says you HAVE to log in the logbook. It says USUALLY, so its not always the case that you HAVE to log the logbook.
  12. I have a great little Garmin StreetPilot I5 I'm selling for $100 plus $5 shipping. We used it once to get to South Carolina and back from Michigan. Worked great, still has 8 months of warranty left on it. Let me know if you're interested.
  13. We bought this to use on a trip to visit my brother who moved. Worked great for our trip but don't really need it anymore. Looking to get $100 for it plus shipping. If anyone is interested, get a hold of me and we'll get it out for you! Available for local pickup in the Muskegon/Grand Haven, Mi area.
  14. The Garmin iQue 3600 is such a device. Discontinued due to lack of interest, I assume. Thanks for the feedback on Palm. Right now we're trying to improve the engine and make it easier to port. Perhaps after we dot our i's and cross our t's we'll be in a better position to support Palm. I have a palm TX and would love to see something that would work on it for the Wherigo stuff. Has bluetooth and a bluetooth gps receiver that would be great to play the game with.
  15. Well, I'm sure the cop could say you were "hunting" and get you that way...
  16. warned over something i don't remember... banned(forums and GC.com) over the illegal alien coin... reinstated later on
  17. I'm glad to say that the coin I released is still out there traveling the world... Hopefully he'll make it back to me safe and sound.... Then maybe a re-release to make it to my brother and some other interesting sites...
  18. There's also the Great Lakes Geocachers group in Michigan that could be able to help out. Check them out at www.greatlakesgeocachers.com
  19. So he can be a snitch too and take something away from the other players... Yup, sounds like exactly what he should do. Become the cache police.
  20. Odd. I would have thought that if a cache owner bothered to make their cache Members Only that they would also delete any logs from non-Premium Members. Yeah, and I thought that the people who control the programming on the site wolud have closed that backdoor by now too. One of the reasons is for when non-pms are out caching with PMs. If the PMs have MO caches in their GPS and the Non-PM finds it with them, is it not a find then or is it? Also what if a cacher stumbles upon a MO cache by accident? Its too bad they can't see the cache page that they just found without paying out...
  21. I've never had a request for co-ords. But if it was a puzzle cache I'd first give them hints to solve and if they couldn't solve it I would probably offer up co-ords(if i still had them). I think puzzle caches have been annoying and cluttering up real caches. I started caching to get outdoors and enjoy an area, not to sit and try to figure out a puzzle for hours. I thought the point of geocaching was to get outdoors? I guess I might be wrong but thats my opinion.
  22. Apparently it's the placement of the logo as this is what was written - They said "I really don't like the location of the geocaching.com logo. I am sure you understand why". - Though really, I see no problem with the placement of the logo as I know of plenty of companies that have branded toilet paper rolls as a form of advertisement. Regardless of placement, you'd think they would be appreciative of the advertisement... Its free for them, not for us.
  23. Just heard back from one of the coin mints. They asked their contact at Groundspeak whether or not the coin would be approved and they said the design wouldn't meet with Groundspeak approval. Might try to rework the coin a bit or let it go... Glad they got back with the coin designer, kinda frustrated that they didn't get back with me when I sent an email out to brian at Groundspeak.
  24. What does "average range" mean? How about just trying to sell it for as cheap as humanly possible. --Marky I cannot say for sure yet what the price will be as we have just sent out to companies asking for quotes on pricing. Once we hear back from the companies we contacted we will have a better grasp on the price for these coins.
  25. A lot of people will enjoy this idea for the humor of it; I do! How much interest there'll be in buying them will depend, as it often does, on the price. But I can guarantee you that, if you issue them in copper (at least), I'm a lot more interested than I would be for anything else. And I'm not alone in this. Thats why I asked general TP if I could pick it up and produce it. We'll try to stay around the average range for the price of the coin as it will be trackable, if possible. We just sent out for quotes on the coin today and hopefully we will hear some great news on the pricing shortly!
