  1. The only thing that I'm getting cheated out of right now is time wasted reading this. Unsubscribing from this black hole of a thread. Y'all wine and complain about something that has absolutely NO effect on you whatsoever if it makes you feel better... I don't see the point, and definitely won't be looking back at this one.
  2. I currently use a 60CSx and have a Colorado 400t on order (should be here around April 9th). The 60CSx is a workhorse, no doubt... I only hope the Colorado compares closely to it's performance, if so I'll be one happy camper.
  3. Pretty much any Garmin from the eTrex H on up would be a real nice choice. I recommend Garmin mainly because it integrates easily with this site, easy to use and well, it's what I'm used to I use a GPSMAP 60CSx and have a Colorado 400t on order.
  4. Anyway... since the topic reads 'What GPS do you recommend' and not 'Advanced algorithm discussions', I'll continue on and disregard your defensive comment. From what I've read the common choices by brand are the following. Granted this doesn't narrow it down much but it's a fairly complete list, perhaps people can expand on the ones they have used a little further. Garmin: http://www.garmin.com (Good customer service and hardware. Also seems to be the most integrated with the geocaching.com website.) High Sensitivity and Waterproof eTrex H High Sensitivity w/Color Screen, Map Capability and Waterproof Summit HC Venture HC High Sensitivity w/Color screen, Map Capability, Storage Card and Waterproof Vista HCx Legend HCx GPSMAP 60Cx, 60CSx, 76Cx, 76CSx Paperless Caching, High Sensitivity w/Color screen, Map Capability, Storage Card and Waterproof Colorado 300, 400t, 400i, 400c Delorme: http://www.delorme.com (Good customer service and undeniably great maps.) Partial Paperless Caching, High Sensitivity w/Color Screen, Map Capability, Storage Card and Waterproof Earthmate PN-20 Magellan: http://www.magellangps.com (Poor customer service and hit or miss hardware.) Map Capability and Water Resistant eXplorist 210 Map Capability, Color Screen, Storage Card and Water Resistant eXplorist 500, 600, XL High Sensitivity, Map Capability, Color Screen and Waterproof Triton 200 High Sensitivity, Map Capability, Color Screen, Storage Card, and Waterproof Triton 300, 400, 500, 1500 Feel free to correct any errors above, I did the best I could to get a base set of the main differences between the makes and models.
  5. Powersfamily, I can only hope you skipped about 90% of this thread... good grief! I've seen some winner hijacks in my time but this one takes the cake. First, it would be good to know what you are upgrading FROM in order for anyone to give you recommendations on what to upgrade TO. I have the 60CSx and have the Colorado 400t on order for paperless caching, the 60CSx will either be sold or handed down. Best of luck to you, not sure what else to say other than it's late and my brain is definitely done for the day after reading this thread.
  6. Is your dad John Madden? Read in your best Madden voice: You see in geocaching, you have two groups... The ones who care about the numbers and the ones that don't care about the numbers. The ones that care about the numbers are the ones that care and the ones that don't care about the numbers are the ones that don't care.
  7. At 250 per day, that's one find every 5.76 minutes for 24 hours straight. Yeah, ok Would look something like this:
  8. Sorry if it's been covered but what do I give out, the copy or the original? On one of my originals the hole is really high so I'm worried it might rip eventually and get lost.
  9. Because it's less of a loss if it drowns
  10. It's weird, I can move a different one to Thursday but not the one I want to move.
  11. I wouldn't mind finding a winning Powerball ticket.
  12. I don't know why, but I find that funny.
  13. I really don't care what other people do if it doesn't effect me, which this doesn't. It's a fun hobby, I have 6 whole caches under my belt and I'm happy to have that many. I'll have more as time goes on, but I'm in no hurry to find them all in 'x' days/weeks/months/years. Maybe my view will change someday, but I hope not... I hate to think I'd dwell on other people's numbers.
  14. The 60CSx is sold pending payment. The nuvi is still available.
  15. Darn right it is Weather permitting we'll be at it again Saturday
  16. I wanted to use this one (created it 5 minutes ago) but I guess animated ones aren't allowed... Thought I'd share anyway.
  17. I have 7 total, and of those 7 only 5 are set to run on any given day.
  18. I keep getting an error when editing a PQ that the page cannot be found. OR When I just click the checkbox to change the query day to Thursday it tells me I have used the maximum of 5 queries for that day (only one is running that day).
  19. Colorado is the ONLY device for true paperless caching. I just got the 400t (still waiting for it to be delivered). From what I've read, the last update fixed 99% of the issues people had with it for geocaching. Not sure where you are seeing that Garmin doesn't recommend it, the only thing I see on their site is: =========================================== Compatible Devices Most portable or handheld Garmin GPS devices, except for PDA’s. =========================================== EDIT Nevermind, I see where you are referring to now... looks like that page is outdated as the GPSmap 60CSx isn't even on there.
  20. I'll have to change mine to a Colorado 400t. Got tired of using/carrying two devices after a whopping 6 caches.
  21. Less than 2 months old! Garmin nüvi 660 $300 shipped - only thing I can say about this one is that the charging cord is NOT the traffic enabled one. In my area it wasn't necessary since the coverage was non-existent. Check your area and save some money with this one. Other than the cord this device is next to new condition, no scratches, markings, etc of any kind. This is the one with Bluetooth functionality as well so you can use it as a handsfree device (check Garmin's site for compatible phones). Item will go out USPS Priority Mail (2-3 day service), insurance is optional at your expense.
