  1. Good to hear! Pretty cool feeling isn't it? So far (for me anyway) it hasn't gone away when I find one, hope it never does. Congrats and best wishes, glad I could help a fellow newcomer.
  2. Basically... I had the nuvi 350, 360 and 660 and the only difference I can see is hardware related (sound limitations). I also haven't seen a way to add custom vehicles (I've made almost 30 of them).
  3. Perfect! I'll do the same... As far as religion and geocaching, I don't think you have to be religious to do it. If I find anything like that I just ignore it, and move on. My whole family is religious to one extent or another, I'm not. To each their own... Just don't force it down my throat and we'll get along fine
  4. I know! It's SO much cooler, isn't it... I love it for geocaching, the screen, controls, feature set, profiles, wireless technology... such a great all around tool, definitely a keeper.
  5. I'm just happy when someone visits my cache, a nice log is an added bonus. It seems too many people are concerned how other people geocache, hide, find, log, etc. Lighten up folks, it's supposed to be fun.
  6. In trying to streamline my device I tried to delete my Recreational profile and somehow my Automotive one went away instead. Can someone post theirs or email it to me please? I've recreated it but not sure if that's the same as the original... if so, no need I guess. Thanks for any info/help you can provide.
  7. You can if you become a $3/mo or $30/year premium member, it's called a Pocket Query and they simply rock.
  8. Oh, did I say 'my' caches? I meant uh... well, nevermind.
  9. I'm a 'southerner' but I signed up just the same... hope to cache in your neck of the woods sometime. Good luck with it! Feel free to be the first member to sign up on my site as well
  10. I have 4 caches hidden, of those 4: 2 are under rocks. 1 is in between cement blocks. 1 is under some grass. I might not be innovative, but I'm having fun and so are the people finding them.
  11. I believe any GPX file can. I could be wrong, it's almost happened once before but I was mistaken. Hey, that's going to be my new signature
  12. Most for me was 5 I think it was... it was a nice day of caching a single area (a large park). Took me over 4 hours to do it and I spent some time at each cache, enjoyed the scenery, read some logs, cleaned/repaired some caches and just enjoyed being out there. To me, that's what it's all about - not the number next to your name. However YOU play, more power to you.
  13. It's definitely you Kidding aside and speaking as a fellow newbie to the hobby, I can tell you there is more to it than following your GPS to the location and grabbing the cache. I have the Garmin 60CSx, Geko 201 and Colorado 400t and no matter which one I use none of them are going to put me on top of a cache regardless of how strong of a signal I have. The point I'm trying to make is that you need to develop an eye for things that look 'placed'. Stacked logs/branches, cut limbs, wood that isn't the same type as others in the area, green foilage in the middle of winter, etc. As far as the Geko goes, I've found it best to use the compass page. That said, keep in mind it only works when you are moving. (The 301 is the exception in the Geko line.) I love my little Geko, and my last outing I actually preferred it over my 60CSx for finding caches, it's a nice little device. Just practice and get a feel for it, it'll be worth it... but most importantly, have fun trying - it will only make the find that much more rewarding. Best regards, 'x'
  14. Wow, that's really uncalled for and I'm sorry you and most importantly you kids, had to go through something like that. Flip side, I could almost see this thread turning into a challenge for someone... "Let's see if I can get this person to come after me, I'll show him" kind of thing. Tough call... better luck in the future.
  15. Really you have no control over how people will react, some will be there just for the numbers while others will appreciate the location. Either way, I would imagine the following: 1. Numbers people will be in a hurry to get to the next cache and not poke around much. Kind of like Chevy Chase in Vacation when they go to the Grand Canyon. 2. The people that are there for the cache as well as the history 'should' respect it, however it goes without saying that there will always be one that ruins it for the group. If this is a sensitive area I'd recommend choosing an alternate site. To me, all caches are good caches, as long as the guidelines set by the site are followed and respected. Good luck whatever you choose.
  16. Been discussed: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...=190463&hl=
  17. Keystone, thank you! Exactly what I needed...
  18. Again, another topic please? I'm sure others could benefit from this discussion you are having if it weren't in this 'Got my Colorado Today' thread and perhaps in a 'Lets discuss position averaging and worth with high sensitivity receivers'. Thanks
  19. All I know is navicache is definitely getting their advertising dollar's worth in this thread Heck I even signed up just to see what it was about... a whopping 6 caches within a 35 mile radius.
  20. Kinda lost me but I'm guessing what you are experiencing is the lack of font control in HTML. There's very limited control over how things are displayed, and to top it off they will display differently on everyone's computer and web browser. Just a stab in the dark based on what I 'think' you are getting at.
  21. Now that would be just too easy, it's much more fun to make things public and bring them to the forums!
