  1. It's possible, but not very durable...
  2. You have to know however, that the topomaps and the street maps save with the same file name, so as far as I know, you can't have both at the same time...
  3. Man I hate to say this but I agree with the too many caches thing. How many is too many? I'm sure its different for everyone but there has to be a reasonable limit doesn't there? I know I set mine at 10 caches and I'm only at 6 right now of which 2 are lame virts. Those keep me plenty busy so when I see people with 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 etc caches hidden I have to question how they can possibly maintain that many. At that point its a bigger issue than just logbooks. UMC, I don't know much, but in my opinion, I think the people with lots of hides probably just put themselves on the watch list for their cache, and then only visit once or twice a year for routine and then, maybe only when there's a call for maintenance... Like I said, I don't know much, but I think I have a pretty good idea of how most people do this...
  4. CYBRET's page has a nice thing about Palm here.
  5. GPS Outfitters (gpsoutfitters.com) makes a great video on the Magellan Sportrak, it's sort of a video manual, but it also has some things that the manual doesn't really tell you. You can probably get it wherever you got your GPS, if not, try some sporting goods/hunting stores that sell GPSrs, and if all else fails, you can buy it from their website. Heck, I think amazon might even have it...
  6. And just for the heck of it, I'd like to also submit this design with an alternate font...
  7. Here's my entry... Hope I was allowed to use the NYGO logo...
  8. I had heard about it several times, but had never really been interested. Then one of my friends told me they had spent the summer geocaching, I was really interested. I immediately wanted to get a GPSr with some of my extra summer work money, but my parents said "maybe that would make a good christmas present" (even though christmas was a good 5 months away) so I lurked for a while, then got bored, and then on christmas day, low and behold, there was a Magellan Sportrak Map under the tree for me, and I've been caching whenever the weather's nice...
  9. This is great... Edit: Question, where are the articles? Every page is just sort of a teaser...
  10. Okay, I just figured out how to set the primary and secondary coordinate thingies, but I can't figure out how to switch between the two... So, can anyone help me?
  11. There was a discussion about this a while ago. I think it was decided that if you're approval agrees it's okay, then it's okay, but you definately wanna make sure you talk to your approver before you submit and/or place the cache... Okay, my second edit. If you can mountain bike for free, but need to pay to ski, I think it should be fine as long as you mention that on the cache page, but once again, talk to your approver...
  12. Okay, Okay, I understand how TBs work, I just sort of badly worded one of my posts. Can we please get back to the topic of bad trades?
  13. Delmont Pennsylvania has a giant firesiren that goes off a couple times a day, but they're mostly going out to the highway to scrape someone off the road. (We're right at the crossroads of two big highways) And I think we might have the highest police officer to citizen ratio, in the state. We have about ten officers, 3 or four police cars and only 2397 tax payers according to city-data.com But seriously the cops just mostly spend the days doing speed traps. It's really rather funny actually, of the 10 or so police officers we have, only about 3 of them actually work regularly, the other 7 work no more than 14 days a year on special events... I think we're pretty safe...
  14. Once again, I'm going off topic with the travel bug thing, but I just wanted to make another comment. By what I said with them being like sig items, I didn't mean you kept them, I just meant along the lines of their value. But is it normally considered that TBs really don't need to be traded even or up?
  15. Grabbing a TB is not considered a "trade". Therefore, anything left in a cache during the taking of the TB is not a trade - technically, it would be a bonus. Seriously??!?!?! I was under the impession that TBs were like sig items and were considered to have a little bit of value, or like the value of whatever the TB actually is, I mean, I guess I don't expect THAT much, but I think it's worth more than six cents...
  16. I guess I'm open to hearing about bad swag... But does anyone else have any interesting stories or people's logs?
  17. I know that as you get closer to a cache your heading, (forget the politically correct term) keeps bouncing around. But is the bearing always right, so that I cuold just use a normal compass?
  18. Keep your personal bickering to yourself guys... But in being on topic, I say, unless this guy who's holding all the bugs has big plans, he's just a TB-Assasin...
  19. I spent about 5-10 minutes searching for any topic with keyword "bad trade" and "bad trades" and a bunch of other stuff and found nothing. Thus, I'm posting this, what are some of the worst trades you've ever seen on a cache page that people have actually had the guts to log. I just read one a little while ago that read like this: ".....Took the travel bug and will move it west this weekend. Left 6 cents."
  20. I think it sounds awesome but the MSRP says like $600, haven't checked prices on it though. But I read that it has a built in digital compass that you don't even need to be walking forward for it to work...
  21. Hundred dollars is a very rare, (but occasional) treat from what I understand. The big money, however is just probably a rumor, unless there was some big contest I've never heard of...
  22. ALGeocacher, no offense, but you're really biased. A lot of people really enjoy the sport, and see it as a great thing but maybe they don't like GC.com because they've had disagreements with staff or they've been banned, or maybe the other site is great for caches in their area. You have to look at it through someone else eyes...
