  1. I usually leave a magnet with a picture of my dog on it and my name/logo accompanied by either a gold dollar, silver dollar, or cito kit. For caches that I REALLY REALLY like, I have a few small, framed pictures of my dog that I carry around...
  2. I could have sworn the cicadas were here a few years ago, I don't think I've seen them much though...
  3. Just thought I'd reply cause it didn't seem like anyone else was going to... My suggestion would be to contact the event promoters and see if you can set up a booth at the competition. Then maybe print out a bunch of letters explaining geocaching and maybe bring a few caches to show as examples. My question is what language do they speak in Sweden? I can help you if it's English, but otherwise, you'll need to look other places for help. You could also check out the Nordic and Baltic Country Forums
  4. I got mine primarily for geocaching, but I've since then, noticed the many features and possible uses for it. Right now, I'm trying to help set up a 5K race in my area, and it's basically just around a big farm that the town owns, and I'm trying to find the best route around it to make 5kilometers. But I've also used it for several other undisclosed reasons...
  5. TOO MANY "TOO MANY" THREADS!!! THERE ARE TOO MANY PEOPLE YELLING ABOUT PEOPLE STARTING NEW THREADS ABOUT A NEW TOPIC. PEOPLE THINK THAT PEOPLE SHOULD SEARCH BEFORE THEY POST A TOPIC ABOUT BOMB SQUADS. MAYBE THEY SHOULD SEARCH BEFORE THEY POST ABOUT PEOPLE NOT SEARCHING FOR A POST ABOUT A TOPIC THAT'S ALLREADY BEEN DISCUSSED.. (Sorry bout the yelling, there are some NOISY people in here)
  6. I'm non confrontational, so unless someone comes right out and asks me what the heck I'm doing, I'll just keep looking, occasionally, I do duck down if I'm wearing something that I don't look official in, but if I'm wearing my ski parka (bright orange) or something else important I'll just keep going...
  7. I've only had one FTF of my own, but it had a Geocaching.com t-shirt in it. That's not something that you buy 100 of and put in every cache, so I thought it was cooler, and it was definately a bit more expensive. I've seen caches in the area that had DVDs or CDs as FTF prizes...
  8. My first attempt wasn't successful, but I found out a month or two later when I returned to the cache, that I wouldn't have been able to get it anyway, it would have been frozen in place...
  9. Yah, I guess that could with the file being online or something similar.
  10. I tried to send an email, and it bounced back, I was pretty sure it was on yahoo's end though, because it was a generated email from the yahoo mail software about the guy's mailbox being too full or smoething...
  11. Yah, I already search amazon for CD wallets and after quickly skimming, couldnt find anything quite what I needed...
  12. Sorry Divine, I didn't mean to step on your toes, I just assumed by what the poster said that there was no limit in Europe, but anyway, my second post was just a continuation of what I said. It falls under the big no-no list that is the Groundspeak Cache Placement/Maintenance Guidelines.
  13. There was once a man who told me to find at least 14 caches before I hid my first.. Why fourteen? No clue, but I think by then, you'd get the idea of how they're hidden, but be sure to get permission...
  14. Okay, so I came up with a cache idea, and basically it'll be sort of a mystery a cache, but in reality, it will be a multi cache. Basically, what I want to do is hide a container full of CDs, people will have to go out, find the CD, then take it home to the computer, and watch a video clip on the CD to get the clues for the next cache, this would go on for a stage or two. Anyway, my question is, does anyone know of any good water proof sealing CD binder type things, it doesn't have to be big, no more than maybe enough to hold 6 CDs or so...
  15. Never try and call your European Penpal from a school phone....
  16. Well it still falls under the Groundspeak Cache Placement Guidelines Added my own emphasis on parts of guidelines that this falls under...
  17. When your GPS is supposed to be taking you to a cache at the other side of town, and you find yourself at the Canadian border, RUN.... ....To Walmart and trade in your Magellan for a Garmin...
  18. What my parents and I will usually do (and this works for normal water bottles to) is fill up the bladder about half way and then freeze it. A few hours before you need it, take it out and fill it up the rest of the way with water...
  19. It's pretty common to have something special for the first finder, usually something a bit cooler, or of greater actual value. I think over here in the states, leaving Champagne would definately be looked down upon, but with no limit on drinking in Europe I don't know, but I still think that would be against the Groundspeak cache policies...
  20. Those are all pretty cool...
  21. I read the first post of this thread not even noticing the date, and I was about to really go off on the guy who suggested a "geocaching map" seeing that there already is one, but then I noticed how old this was...
  22. I remember reading something somewhere that it's very important to always wash your water bottles, there's some kind of weird bacteria thing...
  23. Probably... Also, is it an actual "Camelback" brand or is it just a generic water thing....
  24. I've never experience that problem, but I always keep my camelback bladder in tip top, clean condition, I usually give it a good bleaching after each use and then a good rinse to get rid of the bleach.....
  25. Oh yeah, now I remember where I heard it, it's how scientists determine how far a star is away from the earth. They look at it once, and then they wait six months and look at it again and see how much and to where it moved. What does that have to do with GPS at all though?
