  4. quote:Originally posted by Geo-Actuary:Hi, I'm new to this and just posted my first hide. The system assigned it a waypoint. On the page describing the hide, it says "Use waypoint: GC9921." How and when would I use this name for the waypoint. It seems that if I have the coordinates that I wouldn't need a name. Thanks for your help! The waypoint (GC9921) is assigned by geocaching.com as a reference to identify your cache at a specific set of coordinates in the system. You can search the system for a cache page using the waypoint name. You can use it or not use it for your own purposes. Waypoints names can be any arbitrary name that suits your purpose. I sometimes use the 'GC' number to refer to my cache rather than expressing it by the coordinates. I also use it in my GPS to identify the stored coordinates for various caches that I plan to hunt. 6. quote:Originally posted by enfanta:...allow us to reinstate this cache? "[The Limestone Quarry] cache is no longer there. The Park Rangers removed it due to the proximity to the quarry walls. They felt people would get injuried looking for it. ...the park rangers left an explaination in the logbook on what happened to this cache." I've been following this thread off and on but if someone could refresh my memory, I'd appreciate it. Does the permission form allow us to place caches anywhere semi-reasonable? (I logged this cache and it required some climbing but nothing technical. It was also a lot of fun. I'd hate to lose all caches of this sort...) In cases such as the one you mentioned above, I believe we should respect the professional judgement of the park officials who host the venue for our caches. Their primary concern is for the safety of the public while on the park property as well as protection of the park property and ecosystems. I believe the forms will control approval of the cache location with restrictions by local parks on various areas within the park. "When you find it, its always in the last place you look."

  9. My wife was bitten by a tick on the back of her knee in the early Spring of this year. I tried to pull it out with a tick remover that I carry in my backpack but its head broke off under her skin. She had to go to the hospital to have the mandables surgically removed. Not a pleasant experience. "When you find it, its always in the last place you look."

  20. When I post to the forum, my local time appears -1 hour from actual time. Like a good cacher, I searched both sites for a hyperlink to set my time preferences but couldn't find it. I'm logging a no find! Can someone help out with this? "When you find it, its always in the last place you look."

  22. I've been to some caches that were pretty-well picked over. I always take along something newly purchased from Walmart or Dicks to contribute thats worth at least a buck or two. I usually don't take anything unless it appeals to me in some way. There was this neat rubber chicken in a cache in South Jersey that I've been having some great fun with. The adventure of finding and logging the cache usually makes up for any boring contents. "When you find it, its always in the last place you look."

  24. I went to Ricketts Glen last night to service my cache. On the way out at about 8 pm I stopped by the office to question the current status of the regulations but they were already closed for the evening. I'm an optimist! I'm 'Hanging in' waiting for good things to happen in Harrisburg. The seeds have been planted and we've thrown a lot of good fertilizer on it. Lets now be patient now to see the quality of the crop.
