  1. That guy doesn't post finds, only a note so he can post pictures. He also only goes for a cache if he can be the FTF. Why do I know this? Because I asked him about it on one of my caches he was FTF on and got an earful of insults as a result. Best to leave him be.
  2. I had a bug like that months ago that was stolen from the first cache it went to. I thought it was a great idea. Maybe you'll have better luck. And yeah, that is a TB. I don't see how anyone could say it's not. The TB "guidelines" don't say jack about what is and what's not allowed. Furthermore, it's my understanding that moving caches aren't allowed because no one can control where they're hidden, thus they may end up in a "dangerous" spot. This TB says to hide it within 50 feet of the cache. If there's something dangerous withing 50 feet of the cache then someone was slacking off when they approved it.
  3. I found a leather case for my Palm Pilot in a cache once. I also found a Case XX knife (a very good brand), which I just so happen to collect.
  4. That's good to know. I'm planning on releasing a travel bug whos goal is to reach APE caches. Looks like there's only 2 now. =\
  5. As far as APE caches with the actual APE icon I believe there's only one left. Mission 9: Tunnel of Light. Mission 4: Southern Bowl was just recently archived, which was stupid in my opinion. Who cares if it gets fake logs, no one even "owns" it anymore. There's few enough of them as it is...
  6. I'm pretty happy with mine. Vargseld means fire wolf in Swedish, so it's fitting. Thanks for the contest!
  7. I sure can't stand those darned letterbox hybrids... I wish they would go away...
  8. CTRL + F works well. I suppose what you're looking for could be spelled wrong, but I've yet to have that problem.
  9. The best cache I've found was something like 4 miles of hiking on a mountain very few real trails and some decent elevation changes. Lots of great views on that one. Number two would be a two mile hike into a gorge which included climbing up 4 moderatly sized waterfalls. The worst (okay, most dissapointing) was a pvc pipe with nothing but a wet, smeared, just about completely unreadable "treasure map" asking "can you figure out where the cache is?". Neadless to say I didn't figure it out. I prefer physically challenging caches over math test wannabes. I'll still do the one with lots of math and puzzles, but they'll never be the ones I'm remembering 5 years from now. Gimme more stars for terrain any day.
  10. If you have your own boat it looks like the hike would only be ~.07 miles from shore.
  11. I've done this. After my home town was "pillaged" I made a point of stopping by several caches that were easy and quick to get to when I was in the area and sure enough nearly every one was exposed. I never did contacted the person, as I suspect they wont be back again. I guess when you've found over six thousand caches you don't have time to cover them up properly.
  12. I just recieved an email from a "M.N.S., Security Guard" stating that my caches have been removed due to copyright infringment.
  13. I know of two caches, one in a pit and one under the boards. Heard something about a shed, too...
  14. I had this whipped up specially for a local cacher who had the gall to say publicly in a log that she had found a lot of dud caches recently. The cache is called "This Duds For You". It's hidden in a black bag, though, to protect the paint and to make it not stand out. On the cache page it's listed as a "surprise container". This Dud's For You
  15. Mere Hours after finding my very first cache some friends and I hide our first cache. All we had was a really old Magellan, so until I got a better GPS the coordinates were a little off, but can that really be blamed on me having only 1 find? People still found it and had fun. Limiting new cachers is an awful idea. Maybe you should be more concerned with the cachers with 100+ finds who consistantly put pill bottles deep in the woods. Cody's First Cache And furthermore, I'd rather go out and find an exposed cache with coordinates that're 50 feet off that will no doubt be stolen the next day then sit at home and watch TV. You put a flaming bag on a mountain top and I'll find it...
  16. First of all that "Swedish cacher" was me blatantly lying to the seller. If you had read it correctly you'd see I said "I don't want to log it, I just want to make sure it works before I spend so much money." Nothing in there about wanting to log it. But anyway... I figured if the guy was stupid enough to sell it maybe he's stupid enough to give away the #, with which I could post a very interesting note on the bugs page. I was so sure the allure of $75 would be enough to get it out of him. He wouldn't even tell me which number out of 5,001 it was. It's still pretty funny that we got him to end the auction early.
  17. So very sad... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5910721951&rd=1
  18. If I started making pointless posts, too, I could win!
  19. I believe "restock" already covers the stated actions.
  20. I have a 3 part cache with a total of 84+ miles of driving, which circles Seneca Lake. It's actually one of three caches around the lake that I'm hiding which are all "very difficult" in some way. In the description I say that it'll take a while to find it, and to do it when you have a lot of time to kill. So far it's only had 2 finders, but a couple other people are doing it in steps, as they go around the lake on normal buisiness. The only negative comment it's gotten so far is from an out of stater who couldn't find the final part. My reply to that is; don't do a cache like this when you're on vacation lol! Actually now that I think about it, I had to redo the cache. The original had 7 parts and still circled the lake. Five people found it and not one complained/didn't like it.
  21. Now those are some caches I'd like to find. The two on Ascension Island are GCHV9W & GCHJDR. Zeto Point sounds particularly interesting.
  22. Anyone know what the most remote island cache is? By remote I mean nowhere near any towns/cities of any size/significance. Just way out in the middle of nowhere in the ocean.
  23. Sound like an interesting read. Add my name to the drawing please!
  24. I'd submit that note to Found Magazine if I were you . . . That's classic! Rick I do subscribe to Found Magazine! I did send it to them and never heard anything. I emailed them a scan of it. They never print anything I send them anyway. The note is just sitting in my desk drawer right now. Umm, your note is on that Found site already. http://www.foundmagazine.com/fotw/031404.html
  25. How come the Jeep travel bugs have an asterisk next to them in your stats? An asterisk means it counts towards your finds total, but the Jeeps don't add anything to the number.
