  1. Well if you want honest here's my take on it. I think different metals is a very boring and done to death idea. To me it's just the exact same coin, and I have no desire to have 2 copies of the same coin. Now, if you just change the (enamel) coloring some that makes it different in my book. Facedances did this with the color of the eyes on his 2 coins, and I thought it was a wonderful decision. His is actually the only coin I have in more than one metal.
  2. Wow, 4444? Congrats! Maybe it's time for less caching and more Limpidity. I've been "ptui"ing for almost half a year!
  3. Then there must be two as the one I'm looking at does have contact information. Look at the very bottom line of text, last sentence. It's not a link, but written out. Yeah, I had to edit my post because of that. The one on there isn't very helpful unless you want to help add to the site...
  4. I didn't know I was well-known lol. Which cache was it? I never got a notification from you logging one of them. Sadly the site I know of is working again. It must have just been my connection earlier. Oh, and the website also doesn't have any contact information that would give away who's running the site on it, which really isn't suprising. I'm also not going to give out the URL as per Keystone's request. Sorry, everyone. I'd still like to see it shut down, though...
  5. I got a nice suprise today, some presumed lost coins are no longer lost! I now own a Square Groundspeak Project coin and a GD Mystery Coin with a small ding in it, courtesy of the USPS. At least they did show up after many weeks, just not in the original package...
  6. I was going to check caches for those of you who've posted concerns, but the site seems to be down now. Coincidence? I hope not.
  7. I'm torn between what to do here. I don't want to post the URL, but then again puzzle owners have a right to know. Maybe the admins have some suggestions? Now if anyone out there could somehow hack/nuke the site I'll send you the URL. Yes, I'm serious.
  8. Okay, for some reason I thought those caches were spread out in other states. I guess I am confused with another coin. Thanks. You must be thinking of the Cracker Barrel coin. Now, now, I don't want to see anyone go off their rocker and actually make one of those...
  9. I recently recieved an email from someone working on a puzzle cache of mine that included the URL for a website that has a huge list of puzzle caches along with final coordinates and step by step details on how to solve them. And I do mean huge, all the famous puzzles are on there, as well as plenty of lesser known ones. Thankfully none of mine are on there... but what the heck is this about. I don't want to link to it, for obvious reasons. Does anyone know who runs it? Has anyone else seen this site before (aside from the one forum regular I saw posting there )? I think someone needs to nuke that site. Puzzle owners of the world, now is the time to revolt.
  10. Oh yeah, don't leave that signature on there when you finalize the art, it takes away from the design as far as I'm concerned. I was pretty disappointed to see it on 2 other coins I've got. I've never seen anyone else do that...
  11. Still undecided.........Here is what I'm looking at for the front for those wondering what he was talking about....... No campfire: Camp Fire: I like the one without the camp fire better.
  12. Thanks, I was thinking the same thing but didn't want to be defending myself. I guess it all does boil down to supply and demand. What I keep thinking, though, is that geocoins are not a world wide phenomenon. When you think about it there's really a very small collector base. How many non-geocachers are out there collecting geocoins? So all we're seeing in some cases is, to put it bluntly, geocachers purposly taking advantage of other geocachers, right from the start of a coin sale. The fact that something like that would happen is just suprising to me. I thought we were all one big loving community.
  13. I like 1 the best, because when put on a coin it would have the most detail. Now, are you planning to have a photo on the coin or an engraving of the photo? I don't care for photo inlays, myself.
  14. I almost bumped that one, but I'll let someone else have the pleasure.
  15. Woo hoo, a Spongebob coin!!! Let's trade personals.
  16. This is where I don't agree. I'm making a coin right now that will be sold and I plan on only charging what it really costs. Nothing more. I'm making it because I want to, and see absolutly no reason anyone should be paying me anything extra that will end up in my pockets. Call it my personal set of values, if you will, but I don't feel the need to validate the time I spent by making extra money. True enough, but the paypal fees and mailers are something that costs the same whether it's a normal or limited edition. What I'm talking about is slapping an extra $2+ onto the coin just because it's limited, without any regard to how much it really costs. The only $10 coin I've bought was LIGO, and that's because they're part of NY. I don't mind giving them a few extra bucks. You make a good point, though. It would seem that people don't mind shelling out more than they really should for something that's limited, which just keeps the process going.
  17. As more and more coins come out I've seen more and more people trying, and succeeding, in making money off them. Hey, there's nothing wrong with that, but it seems like more and more people/groups are going about it underhandedly. The biggest shock to me is limited edition coins. I can't speak for all mints, but I asked Coins and Pins if there's any extra charge for splitting a run between different metals and the answer was no, as long as the second metal doesn't cost more. So why, when the vast majority of coins are some variation of antiqued metal (the most expensive as far as I know), is there any reason to charge $10 for a limited edition coin? Last I checked limited only means that very few exist, not that the item is over priced. Many of the $10 limited coins out there cost exactly the same to produce as the $6 normal version. In some cases people who buy them are being ripped off. Heck, the LE favorite of "shiny gold", or polished metal, is one of the cheapest metals you can use. This wouldn't bother me so much if the money went to a state organization, but padding an individuals pocket doesn't appeal to me. And before I get flamed this isn't directed towards any certain group, and yes I know that the peach was a unique shape which costs extra (though Coins and Pins does that for free ). *** Bet some of you thought this would be about $2.60 shipping & "handling" for one coin, huh? I don't like that either, but it's not going to change so why bother talking about it?
  18. I already bought your coin, I couldn't pass on it. The initial price I saw was just a mistake on my part, so it wasn't as bad as I thought. I'm not trying to attack anyone specific, just making a statement. Maybe I'll make a new thread. Anyway, I apologize for taking this so far off topic and wont say anything else here.
  19. Where on earth are you seeing $4 per coin shipping? When I tried to order 1 coin last night the total came to $8. This morning it was back down to $6.60. I guess I must have put 2 in for the quantity last night. $2.60 to ship 1 coin within the US is still more than necessary, but I can deal with that for this particular coin. The $2 might be the handling fee (?) Coins from The Caching Place usually have a $2 fee per order. It is, but to me charging $2 to walk to the post office is ridiculous. When I trade with people I don't say "By the way, you're going to have to pay me an extra 2 bucks", so I fail to see what makes them any different. I've never even seen a single state coin where they charged that much to mail 1 coin. I guess I just need to realize being a business comes first over being a cacher.
  20. If you're thinking about making a coin tracking isn't really that important. If it's trackable you'll sell out in minutes. If it's not trackable it might take a whole day to sell out, but it's going to happen regardless. Me, I go more for the non trackable coins.

  22. $4 for the shipping of 1 coin? What a total rip off. *Makes a personal note to not support that website* I really hope you'll trade with me for your silver coin. After the whole thread you've become one of my geocaching idols.
  23. PLEASE tell me there some kind of Buffett reference on the back of that thing!! Tree top flyer, maybe?
