  1. I'll be there. Now if only someone can figure out how to get a cool cache involving riding the MAX. But i am NOT counting stops between Orenco station and Main street in Gresham! all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
  2. We could almost arrange a cache event at this half-way point. I hate to sound like gordon smith here, but it could represent the continuing friendship and cooperation between our two metropolitan geocaching areas. But with beer. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed

  4. I chose 'other' because, despite my recent post about old chicago, i think it should be a place unique to the west side. i mean, c'mon, even SALEM has (or used to have) an 'old chicago,' and chevy's is ubiquitous nowadays as rick from empire glass. Then again, the only downtown west-side place i can think of is 'mama-mia's,' and i think that place is now defunct. i don't know. Is there a place within .25 miles of a MAX stop? If so, i say that's the place, no matter what the sleaziness factor is. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
  5. I think it was originally pronounced "cham-POO-ick" back in the days of the provisional government. But yeah, nowadays we call it "sham-POO-ee." When i was five my parents told me they were taking me to "shampooing" state park and i started crying because i hated getting soap in my eyes. I've sense grown up a bit. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed

  7. quote:Originally posted by logscaler: Although, as I look at the map, it look like there just might still be a couple counties without caches. I will check that aspect first and maybe fix it. i THINK that all oregon counties have a cache, but i could be wrong. There's one on the john day river (that i wish i had the expertise to find) that is kinda on the border of, i think, wheeler county. i'd love to see a cache near spray, as i considered that my home address last summer. and sometimes the cache-map counts archived caches, so i just don't know. logscaler, if there's anyone that could hide (or find) a cache in every oregon county, i think it would be you. i bagged my 22nd county last weekend on my way back to boise, but i'm wet-side so it's a little less challenging for me as our counties over here are only the size of new jersey instead of the size of connecticut. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed

  10. When i first learned about geocaching, i programmed in ever cache within 100 miles of 97214 (all 109 of them!) in an overzealous fit. Later, i realized i would never find them without actually printing out the pages, so i deleted the waypoints. Fortunately or unfortunately, i used the same icon for caches as camping spots--what i was using the etrex for before geocaching. So i never deleted "hardy" because it has the same name as a spot on the mollala, which is where i thought it must have designated. anyway, the point is that now i don't even have to reenter the coordinates to find this one. explosis, your new specialty seems to be finding archived caches. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
  11. Maybe our next trip to Top Score should double as a fund raiser for one of our friends in Klamath Falls. See this if you haven't already. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed

  13. As long as she doesn't break up with me (again) in the next 14 days, laurencat and i are coming to klamath falls, oregon on the 17th or 18th. We wanted to make the dash for cache event, but she doesn't graduate until the 13th and i have a stupid ceremony thing on the 16th. That, and we're twenty-somthings, so--by definition--we're fickle. although i've been to k-falls many times, this is lauren's first visit. We'll be there for about a week, and hopefully--weather permitting--we'll be camping most of the time. But this is klamath falls in may, so we'll be retreating to the city every time the afore-mentioned weather dictates. I gotta stop beating around the bush. Does anyone know the following: a)relatively close-in campgrounds b)a cheapish, but data-port ready motel c)a foofy restaurant d)3 or more non-foofy restaurants e)a girl by the name of donna frehauf? f)the emergency couch to sleep on g)strip clubs, if any this is our big summer trip, and although it's only in late spring, we're looking forward to it like there's no tomorrow. when i was 13, in 7th grade, my teacher told me that the safest place to be in case of a nuclear attack by the soviets was klamath falls. quote:Originally posted by bigkid: Only $25, lots of great caches including 2 guest caches, 1 by Seth! and 1 by Moun10Bike. If you include the motel, the dinner at yarrow bay beach cafe, the gas, the subway for lunch, and the copious amounts of cigarettes it takes to handle the drive to kirkland, i've paid 10 times that to find a cache by Seth! and Moun10bike in the same day. So the search is a bargain and i wish i could make it. But i'm doing a wedding in fricking aurora (no offense people) that night so i can't go. if there's another one, then i'll plan my schedule around it. I look forward to reading all about it here in the forums/on the logs/in the newspaper when it's all over. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed

  17. I haven't done 'Hart of the Woods' or 'xyz/ngs' yet. I would suggest that new one that just posted, but, well, you know. Looks like THAT one will have to be margarita-free. I have a concert to go to tomorrow night, so i'm not sure how ready i'll be for this tonight. But i'm pretty much ready for anything. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed

  22. Have you tried my Pan Dulce Babushka cache yet? It's only 17 miles north of Salem, and not many people have done it yet. Don't let the terrain difficulty scare you--it's highly inflated. I hate to toot my own horn here, but i also have the Abbey cache in Mt. Angel--not too far from Salem. I also have a new one that i haven't posted yet about 5 miles north of salem. I've hidden the cache already, but i haven't posted it because i'm afraid that the recent rise of the willamette may have rendered it impossible to find without scuba gear.

  24. quote:Originally posted by Maps-R-Us: So, Oregone, how long did it take you to search through all 300+ logs to come up with the county statistics? Is there an easy way to do this? actually, i just looked at the cache map of oregon and saw which counties i had little checkmarks in. I guess i couldn't do that in WA or ID because i don't know the counties by shope over there! Oh, and I added Union county today!
  25. In another forum category, i saw little geocaching patches for the fifty states. Wouldn't it be cool to have something like this for Oregon counties? (Or WA CA ID counties, of course) I was just looking at my cache page and saw that i've found caches in 18 of the 36 oregon counties. I'm half way there, but i'm sure logscaler and joedohn et al have me beat on that one. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
