  1. Try this link: rws maps and tutorials Bob
  2. I think you may be misinterpreting the compass screen. The red arrow does NOT point North like a magnetic compass - it points to your next waypoint (and only appears when you are in Navigation mode). Your actual direction is given by the direction in the 12 0'clock position on the circular "bezel" around the compass. Bob
  3. ... but if you bought it before Garmin changed their policy from a 2-GPS licence to a single unit, then call Garmin Customer Service and they will give you another unlock code for the 60CSx. Bob
  4. I'd defer to someone who has owns the product and has used it. My information comes from the Garmin website, which until recently only had details for Metroguide Canada V4, but now just shows Metroguide Canada without a Version number. They have a current promotion for a Rebate when upgrading from V4 to V5 so I'm presuming that V5 has just been released. The webpage for Metroguide Canada (no version) is here. You will note that they say: This is Garmin-ese for it only routes on the PC. Garmin also says: This definitely says Metroguide is LOCKED. Interesting ..... Bob UPDATE: I've just checked with a few Canadian stores and they don't have V5 yet. GPS Central in Calagry haven't been able to get any repsonse from Garmin as to when V5 will actually be available. So where's everybody buying V5?
  5. Garmin Metroguide discontinued autorouting in the GPS after V4 back in 2003 or so when they introduced City Select which became City Navigator. I think the logic back then was that there were many GPS that didn't handle "Follow Roads" autorouting (only "Direct" autorouting) so they offered two products - Metroguide for the non-autorouting GPS and City Select for the autorouting GPS. City Select was also LOCKED (i.e. installs maps on two GPS only, later changed to one GPS with City Navigator). So, Metroguide USA and Europe kept getting newer versions (up to V8 or V9) and they didn't autoroute and weren't locked. However Canada Metroguide has never been updated past V4 (2003?) until now, and V5 follows past practice of disabling autorouting, but LOCKING Metroguide is new. The non-autorouting in Metroguide after V4 isn't an issue as Metrogold (a $6 download from geodude) restores autorouting. Bob
  6. Stick with Metroguide Canada V4. Not only is Metroguide V5 LOCKED, they've also disabled autorouting on the GPS (only autoroutes on the PC). Metroguide V4 is readily available from numerous sources at low cost, is unlocked and autoroutes. When a reasonable GPS costs as low as $200, it's unreasonable to expect users to shell out $100+ for maps for each GPS they own. Licencing would be more acceptable if it were "per owner" not "per GPS". I have 4 GPS in use so I seek the alternatives (and find them). Bob
