  1. So having received an ENO doublenest hammock for Christmas, I'm curious who around here might be into hammock camping.

Everyone I know who owns a ENO hammock loves it. I bought one for my sister and bro-in-law for Xmas and as I walked out the guy at the store tells me how awesome they are and how he has 3. I inform him that he doesn't need to tell me as I am already a believer. I still wonder why he needs 3.

  2. I think I am lean a little towards the lighter side. When going for a day of hiking/caching I take my camel back with water (of course), a first aid kit, fire producing device, snacks, and I usually take my spot tracker, even though, on a simple hike where cell phone coverage is possible, I usually leave it turned off.

  3. Now this old crock has seen it ALL! A sleeping bag compartment? You mean you just don't lash it to the pack frame? :) Probably hikes in tennis shoes! (For those on troll alert, this is all meant in good fun)

My pack has a compartment too. I like it because less stuff gets snagged on it. I also get my sleeping pad (tightly rolled) and infateable pillow (again tightly rolled) and my bag (stuffed in a compression sack) in there.

My tent gets rolled. I think it packs better and carries better. Plus my tent bag doesn't compress.

  4. when you are truely fatigued everything tastes incredible.

I remember in the Marines we would mix the crackers, the cheese(?) spread and tabasco in with any of the pasta type meals and it was great. As grunts we would take the heaters out for weight savings and hope full be able to find a nice sun drenched rock to heat up the foil packets.

I like the tuna in foil packets, add in a little hot sauce and throw it on some crackers...

  5. Hey just a heads up...there will be an easy 4 x 4 event at the Dale Mining District east of 29 Palms. Event is called Trash in Cache Out II. GC1HKXD. Camping Friday, March 14th and Saturday March 15th if you like. Event is actually March 15th at 8 a.m. then a fun day of caching. Returning to the camping area for more food and fun. Hope to see you there.

    I think you mean March 13th & 14th. The 15th is a Sunday

  6. waroku.. I am not going to pass judgement on your (or your GF's) life choices. If you don't want to consume animal products more power to you.

That part about wool had me thinking. I am not up on my veganism so please bare with my NewB questions. Would those boots be exceptable? The wool is substainable so it's not like the animal dies. One could argue about in humane conditions. Do they have free range sheep? ;)

  7. I bought a new GPS that came with this software. I already own the software with my previous GPS so I have no need for it. The disk is brand new in the shrink wrap.
