  1. I've created a bookmark list for UK 10th anniversary events and added this. If I see any more or folks let me know, I'll add them as well. Jon That's very useful Jon. Is it possible to get easy access to this list via my "Manage Bookmarks" link on my profile?? I can only see my own Bookmarks on this page, and yet it would seem to be a good place to also list other public shared Bookmark Lists. Chris
  2. Not sure if it would cope with puzzle caches but http://www.nearby.org.uk/ will convert post codes & coordinates for you ;-) Chris
  3. Each PQ will give you up to 500 caches (1000 from May!!!) The 400t can hold 2000 caches so I think this means you can store 4 separate GPX files in it if you wish. (I fill mine by loading the PQs into GSAK and using this to sort and filter the caches further before loading them into my 400t.) Chris
  4. As I live just west of the Greenwich meridian, the move to prioritising by longitude sounds good to me! But will those living just to the east (in East Anglia as well as the Netherlands, Germany etc) now get their caches a day later than expected? I'm also delighted to see larger PQs being delivered soon. Presumably generating a fewer number of larger PQs would reduce the server traffic - until users choose to get more frequent updates I suppose?? Thanks for your updates on proposed changes. Chris
  5. Our average Miles/Cache works out as 20.5 (no doubt helped by the caches we found on the Costa Blanca last year). This summer we'll be going to Austria, so hopefully the average will increase further! Our only unique stat is that we haven't found a cache below sea level yet (perhaps we need a holiday in the Netherlands??) Chris
  6. Many thanks for the update. I appreciate the apology, and agree the most infuriating problem was the complete lack of any acknowledgement of the problems over the weekend by Groundspeak staff. If they could have responded to the many forum threads reporting the problems users were experiencing, at least we'd have had some clue that we were being heard! Chris
  7. I have just received 30+ copies of one of my scheduled PQs, all a day late. And they crashed my email box with the volume of data. Thanks a bunch geocom!! Chris
  8. I use GSAK to store the cache details, including its corrected coords and the puzzle solutions in its Notes field. This then transfers to my Oregon with the added details at the top of the cache details. I don't have an iPhone, but believe you can transfer the same augmented cache details in HTML from GSAK to an iPhone. Chris
  9. This problem has been discussed in this thread - http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...p;#entry4247791 - and is reported to have been investigated and resolved now: Chris
  10. Thanks, Hopefully my 5 PQs will be on their way soon. Chris
  11. Try setting cache GC16XFG (East Grinstead Railway Station) as the centre point and ad as a location? There's no obvious reason why GSAK would get these calculations wrong unless you've mistyped the coords and using a local cache avoids that problem. Chris
  12. I prefer Google and would not want this to stop being the default option. Chris
  13. I've been updating my profile every Tuesday for the last few weeks, and today it behaved just as you've described. Previously, the preview window showed the profile correctly rather than the HTML code I got today. It seems OK when viewing it normally, si I presume it's a new bug on the website Chris
  14. They only sell doughnuts over here ;-) Chris
  15. I totally agree with your sentiments, but found the hyperlinks very difficult to read. There needs to be more contrast between them and the background to make it a perfect solution. Using FoxClocks on my Firefox browser also helps convert US Pacific time to my local time! Chris
  16. I've added FoxClocks to the status bar of my Firefox browser just to keep track of the current time in the UK, Seattle (ie US Pacific Time) and Perth (for GSAK). It saves all the complicated conversions!! Chris
  17. We definitely still need the option to use Google as I don't believe OpenStreetMaps has the worldwide coverage you need. Chris
  18. From their website, it looks like they are using geocaching as a team building exercise on their training courses. Presumably they have used their own caches rather than GC-published caches to keep control of the training exercises. Lets hope that have at least checked the position of GC-published caches before placing their own, and warned their students what to do should they find a non-Theta cache. The basic idea is sound, and could well introduce more cachers to the sport. Chris
  19. I bought a sticky screen protector from Amazon (which has already stopped one scratch from affecting the screen). I went to Jessops and chose a small camera case that the Oegon would fit in. Chris
  20. For instance, a few days ago a post appeared briefly here to publicise (deleted by moderator). This was published by a registered charity supporting people in the (deleted by moderator). But because they hadn't obtained permission to publish it, it was deleted very quickly. I have advised the charity to try publicising it via (deleted by moderator) instead as it seems a very worthy cause to me. Chris
  21. There's a list of forum moderators given here: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...mp;CODE=leaders. As there's no specific moderator listed for this forum, it looks like the job is handled by the Global Moderators (mtn-man & Miss Jenn are shown as the forum leaders). But I've noticed a new reviewer name popping up recently - is there a list of reviewers anywhere, and the parts of the UK that they cover? It would be nice to be able to welcom new volunteers to such a vital job. (Mrs B's post just above mine, has answered my question just as I was asking it!! Now that's service!!!!!!) Chris
  22. My lighthearted reference to "Seek and ye will find" does get taken too seriously sometimes, and people can read more into it than was originally intended. So perhaps "The Scarlet Pimpernel" (long, but they seek him here, they seek him there...) or "Pooh & Piglet" (a very very long story!!!) Chris
  23. I like puzzle caches, so count me in... Chris
