  1. Oohhh that wuld be cool. I am not a pilot but my grandfather was and we would go flying several times a month basically just airport hopping. That would put another interesting twist on it. I like it. Can I have a loan, I'm low on cache!!
  2. quote:Originally posted by RJFerret:Actually, you might have an expectation of privacy in the woods/public parks. Recently here in CT, a couple was video'd copulating in a discrete area in a public park and the _videographer_ was prosecuted. Just 'cause it's _public_ property doesn't mean anything--think of a _public_ bathroom after all! Hope this helps, Randy A public bathroom doesn't mean it's ok to take someones picture. Not many ppl (i say not many because there are some) walk through the park with thier pants around the ankles. The person getting arrested for videotaping the more than romantic couple is just wrong. The other people should have gotten busted and the tape confiscated. Can I have a loan, I'm low on cache!!

Then why would you have a problem with cameras in your home? You must be doing something wrong there, eh? Like I said, home is suppose to be private. What you do in your own home is your own business. What you do walking down the street is everyones business. Personally I have no problems with security cameras and the like. The idea of a cam near the cache would be very cool. Can I have a loan, I'm low on cache!!
  4. Ahh yes taking it to the extreme side. Yes no matter what you do someone will find fault..gotcha!! Can I have a loan, I'm low on cache!!

  6. Giving up this activity because we have to be responsible? Don't understand that? quote:Originally posted by SamLowrey: quote:Originally posted by Woodsters Outdoors:....I wouldn't want to have to answer as to why someone got stabbed or cut, or why something burned down because I irresponsibly left something that anyone could get. _ Do you want to go to that conclusion, because if you do, we may as well just give up this activity. 7. " Those items, knives' and matches would come in handy if you get lost. " Getting lost? While carrying a GPS? just kidding LMAO!! Can I have a loan, I'm low on cache!!
  8. Consider this, caches are also found by mistake by kids and I sure as heck wouldn't want a bunch kids finding it to cause trouble. Even tho the rules didn't specifically state Knives in the no no list, c'mon it is obviuos why it shouldn't be left in a cache. Just my 2 centavos!! Can I have a loan, I'm low on cache!!
  9. But if I can help a TB with it's goals, I should be able to get it, which is why I asked here quote:Originally posted by lathama:sorry but i disagree here. Never return to a cache just to pick up a TB. If it got placed into a cache after u went well tough luck you missed it! Also another thing which annoys me is people who pick up a TB which they have had before. TB's goals are to meet new people not the same people ova and ova again! IF U HAVE HAD IT BEFORE LEVAE IT FOR SOMEONE ELSE! Can I have a loan, I'm low on cache!!
  10. Cool, thanks for the info. Didn't want the geopolice hunting me down!! Can I have a loan, I'm low on cache!!
  11. Just a curious question. What if I have already found a cache and then someone drops off a TB. Is it ok for me to go back and pick it up and take it on it's way? Or should I leave it for someone that hasn't found the cache yet? TIA! Can I have a loan, I'm low on cache!!

  13. Well, I'm almost sorry I started this topic..lol. I kinda like geomuggle, it covers both bases. Muggle (non magic ppl) Geomuggle (non geocaching ppl) I vote Geomuggle!! Can I have a loan, I'm low on cache!!
  14. I just re-read your original message, what ver of IE are you using on the laptop? WinME is a notorious for bugs and glitches. Try upgrading IE and see if it helps. Can I have a loan, I'm low on cache!!
  15. I was going to suggest maybe an admin is deleting them because of off-topic, but if they are diappearing as you write well now that's just strange!! Can I have a loan, I'm low on cache!!
  16. So if they are new, non-geocachers we could call them muggie's LOL!!! quote:Originally posted by BassoonPilot:I think it's really funny when people who object to the term "newbie" use the term "muggle." 17. Launching model rockets is my other life and I try to get the kids involvrd as much as possible...thus The Rocket Pack was born. Can I have a loan, I'm low on cache!!
  18. We try to keep things light. We use a small soft sided cooler, the kind that would hold a 6pak, and have skeeter spray, digital camera, flashlight, extra batteries, plus pens, and stuff we would leave in a cache. I think we bought it on clearance for $3 or something like that. It's the perfect size for the more difficult climbs. Can I have a loan, I'm low on cache!!
  19. How about geochallenged, cacheinept, misguided or something to do with the technology used GPSr's, lon/lat coords. Can I have a loan, I'm low on cache!!
  20. Just wondering why the GC community hasn't adopted a more original term rather than using one from Harry Potter. Just a thought, no flaming required Can I have a loan, I'm low on cache!!
  21. I was just curious about some of the ways everyone handles keeping a cache a secret when prying eyes are about. Today I had to pretend we were rock collecting just to kill time due to a wanderer getting very very close to the open, unhidden cache! So how does everyone else fend off the evil muggles???
  22. The lag can also be attributed to the fully "auto" feature on all cams. With some practice and patience have gotten used to the delay. Plus switching to man mode and locking the exposure really does wonders for increasing the chance of grabbing that once in a lifetime shot. quote:Originally posted by radical geezer:BrianSnat - All you have to do to find out how true it is, is to do a search on the term "shutter lag". Two factors with a digital I can think of that you don't have with a film camera that might contribute to shutter lag: 1. Setting white balance (this is taken care of at the processing lab with a film camera). 2. Charging the CCD. I'm pretty much amazed that more people here in the forum aren't aware of - let alone been extremely frustrated by - shutter lag. If all you use your camera for is landscxape and scenery shots, you may never notice it. On the other hand, if you're shooting anything involving action, shutter lag may eventually prompt you to give up on digital cameras altogether. Want to test your camera for shutter lag? Simple. Try getting a good, centered shot of a child on a swing. Or a seagull flying by. Better yet, set up a "finish line" situation such as this: position yourself beside a street and try to capture a car as it passes a given stationary object on the other side of the street. Keep the camera pointed at the stationary object and don't pan (panning is following a moving object - the car - with the camera as you take the shot). With a digital camera, if you haven't panned, you'll be lucky if you get any portion of the car in the shot. One of the instances that made me fully aware of the shutter lag with my previous camera (the Panasonic) was when the wife and I went sailing on one of the tall ships - the Hawaiian Chieftain - in San Diego bay, where we took on other tall ships in a mock cannon battle. I wanted a shot of the ship's cannon going off showing the flash and puffat the instant the cannon fired. Took me about a dozen shots until I could anticipate well enough to get what I wanted. Obviously, if the instant I wanted to capture was a one-time occurence, I would have been completely out of luck. http://img.Groundspeak.com/user/129252_1100.JPG My personal opinion is that major shutter lag exists in digital cameras simply because consumers have permitted the camera manufacturers to get away with it. As more and more people have converted (or tried to convert) to digital photography, the demand from consumers who really do want a digital camera that behaves as well as a film SLR is finally forcing the manufacturers to address a problem they should have resolved early on. The "half depressed" shutter is a rather shoddy attempt at a solution, and it will probably be another year or so at least before we see many lower end (less than $500) digital cameras being offered with little or no shutter lag.
  23. I own the olympus c-700 Ultrazoom and have no complaints except for lack of a remote shutter release option. Yes it is only 2.1mp and I think someone else mentined it eating batteries, the Olypmus is not the only cam that eats cells for lunch. I recommend getting energizer E2 batteries. A bit more expensive but they last a heck of a lot longer compared to AA's. Even with the extra cost, you come out ahead.
  24. I did some comparisons and the Magellan Sport trak map scores very high in all areas. It has not let me down yet. The ONLY thing I don't like about it is the data connection on the back is kind of strange. Other than that it's a winner!! Plus loaded with Mapsend streets you can't beat it!!
